  • STEP
    for STEP s 3 primary audiences current members potential members and buyers A web design project for large corporations can be challenging at the best of times but with 3 primary audiences to please we knew we had our work cut out for us The Outcome Embracing the challenges set out by STEP we first began formulating a plan on how we would approach their project as well as putting a timeline in place We separated the project into distinct phases and assigned dedicated team members to each phase ensuring the project was kept on track and completed in time Discovery The initial discovery of the project was looking at STEP s previous website and analyzing their data It was essential for our team to know this information so we could track their current website traffic and investigate how their current audience is viewing and using the website Upon completion of this analysis we could then compile a report and channel this into the new design of the website Design As with all design projects it starts off by creating the site navigation As you previously read STEP required new navigation to enhance usability on the website and allow their audience to quickly find the information they were searching for Once complete we then created the wireframes for the website The wireframes were initially created using pen and paper before being digitalized However the purpose of creating these very basic diagrams gives us and our design team the opportunity to create a basic structure of how the design will look and what areas of the homepage will be images what areas will be text what areas will contain call to actions etc Once the wireframes were finalized the design of the new STEP website could be created Starting with initial homepage concepts each based on a variety of themes and styles these were presented to STEP s team for discussion and feedback Garnering feedback from them in regards to the design concept they essentially liked the best it could be revised finalized and then the creation of the internal pages could be designed Development As previously noted STEP needed a system in place that allowed the ease of effort for STEP staff to manage and maintain the website Therefore it was decided a customized content management system CMS would be developed and configured for the new website However prior to any design implementation and the build of the CMS the design team undertook the creation of the responsive designs In order to provide easier access to timely and valuable information for STEP s audience we proposed making the new website responsive so that it is viewable on mobile devices Loving the thought of this idea STEP put their trust in us and gave us the go ahead to use responsive design as they saw this as a valuable enhancement of their updated online presence Upon completion of the design work and STEP had signed off on all the designs they

    design team could finalize the chosen concept making as many revisions as necessary before proceeding to design and finalize the internal pages design Next up was creating how the website would appear on mobile devices in other words the new WeldCor Supplies Inc website has been designed with responsive web design technology A factor of the redesign was to make the viewing and ordering of WeldCor Supplies Inc products more efficient for their online customers By having a website that incorporates responsive web design the new website is easily accessible and viewable on all mobile devices as the website readapts according to the device browser it is being viewed on Upon completion of all aspects of the design the project was handed over to our development team for programming WeldCor Supplies Inc website has been built upon a custom CMS As with all our web design and development solutions in the initial meeting we determine what CMS is best suited to the project for WeldCor Supplies Inc a custom solution was the best due to the specialist functionality that was required This includes Product Catalog a robust and dynamic product catalog was created to showcase WeldCor Supplies Inc s many products It is split into various categories that when clicked on displays the products contained within that category website admin have the ability to add or delete categories in the CMS along with adding and deleting products and product descriptions Request for Quote each product in the product catalog has been implemented with an Add to RFQ button When the user clicks this the product is added to their RFQ cart the user is then required to enter the size and quantity required Once the user is finished shopping they can process their order the user is required to submit

    s an excuse for having a poor web presence The website was for the lack of a better word unappealing Therefore it was our job to completely revamp the site and create an engaging and updated website that would appeal to Doepker Industries end users The Outcome Beginning with the design the design team created a variety of homepage design Each design based on different styles and themes were submitted to the Doepker Industries website project management team for them to review and provide feedback Based on the feedback received the designers could then head in the direction that Doepker Industries wanted Once the homepage was finalized the internal pages were created Upon completion of this the Doepker Industries website project management team signed off on all the designs The designs could then be sliced coded and ready for implementation basically the project was ready to enter the development phase The Doepker Industries website has been built using a custom made content management system Earlier on in the project the choice for the CMS was decided upon due to their project requirements i e a specialized piece of functionality that required developing for the new website For Doepker we created an interactive yet searchable database for users to find where their closest Doepker Industries dealer is located As a user you can view the integrated Google map of North America and search by Province State or Product Type Depending on what you select you will be presented with a list of dealers in your area or a list of the dealers selling that type of product You can then view the list of dealers displayed below the map and see which dealer is closest to you The user can then click on the address of the dealer and the dealer

    and external stakeholders it was essential that the new design was user friendly easy to navigate and interactive Another issue that needed to be resolved throughout the project was the assurance that the newly designed website could be easily updated by READ Saskatoon staff The Outcome One of the first aspects of this project was to perform an analysis on the previous website It was important for us to know how READ Saskatoon s traffic was using the website So by looking at their analytical data we were able to extract this information We could then use this information to create a new site architecture and design for the website Upon completion of the design these were implemented with a custom built and easy to use content management system which was configured to include the following Responsive design to ensure the new website is easily accessible on all mobile devices News module to display the latest organization news Online registration for members this was created to remove their current offline model for creating and renewing membership accounts with the ability for them to pay online too A members only area a new feature for the site that allows only members to access this privileged space and be able to view member only content Events calendar and online events registration users are able to view events and register and pay for the event online A blog for keeping their vast audience up to date with organization related content regarding past events Integration of their social media channels There s a whole host of other functionality that we created for the site but we encourage you to check it out and see for yourselves When we started this project there was a list of criteria that READ Saskatoon had for us including

    of Schulte s great imagery each product when clicked on presents the user with an abundance of images showing close ups of the product the product in action etc along with detailed specifications videos and downloaded documents This is in complete contrast to the previous catalog which involved the user having to click through page after page to retrieve the exact same information Now all the user has to do is click on a single product and they are presented with all the necessary information instantly Find a Dealer An enhanced feature for the Schulte website has been the Find a Dealer page This has been enhanced to provide more engagement and interactivity with their website users Schulte s website users can now easily locate their closet Schulte dealer by navigating through this page Starting with a integrated Google Map that details every single one of their dealers throughout the world with Google Maps recognized red pin the user can select their country followed by their province They are then presented with an alphabetical list of dealers which the user can narrow down even further by Searching by Company Name Responsive Design A brand new element of the website has been to make the Schulte website easily accessible on mobile devices In our modern world the majority of Internet users access the online world using their smartphone or tablet device However with the amount of new mobile devices that seem to appear on the market it honestly feels like one a month it s important that your website responds to each new device but to create a website for each device would a be impossible to keep up with the amount of devices and b extremely costly hence why responsive design lets your website adapt to all screen sizes and

    their target audience was us the general public As a recycling centre the public wants to know 2 things firstly what can they recycle and secondly where is the nearest depot Unfortunately the existing website made finding this information painstakingly difficult The design was out of date the site navigation wasn t easy to navigate and the content left a lot to be desired Partnering with 2 WEB DESIGN the goal was to provide SARCAN with an up to date easy to manage website that focused on the public and gave them the information they wanted The Outcome Built using a custom CMS specific to SARCAN Recycling s requirements the website s new navigation is much more user friendly Their audience can now easily find information on what can be recycled where they can recycle and includes educational information for adults and students on the environmental impact of recycling The majority of environmental information can be found on the SARCAN Blog which was a new addition to the website The new site was designed responsive too With the majority of their audience wanting to find information on depot locations whilst on the go it was important to be respective of this By incorporating this design technique their users can now view the website on a variety of mobile browsers A new feature developed for the SARCAN Recycling website was the Beverage Recycling Counter that is visible on the homepage Thousands upon thousands of beverage containers are recycled everyday in Saskatchewan and this counter keeps the public informed of this information Recent work Neechie Gear Brand new responsive website with Shopify CMS IRD Inc A new look website and mobile website for the world s leading highway traffic management firm View Portfolio Have a Project in mind Get Started Discover new
