  • Is my portion control okay??? | Atkins diet - Atkins™ Low Carb Diet
i am half day in college i would come home have a salad with tomatoes onions and ham or tuna 13 983 Posts Send PM Ellen Reply 4 3 days 18 hours ago I m not criticising I m giving you some pointers My son s a student so I know about constraints but you can do Atkins quite cheaply Have veggies instead of salad Buy veggies that are being sold off and freeze them to get several meals out of one Buy a pack of mince and divide it up or value chicken legs etc It s just a change of mindset 3 902 Posts Send PM Phil Reply 5 3 days 18 hours ago Does your college food outlet publish nutritional data It s hard to know if three pork sausages is a lot or a little I am confused by you not having the money and not buying the food at the same time but either way salad isn t as good as green veg in terms of nutrients per and of calories from carbs tends to be a bit higher Do the free school meals not include vegetables Do your parents not eat vegetables 4 Posts Send PM jeennnywilliams Reply 6 3 days 18 hours ago Ellen I know you are not criticising I do have vegetables in my home but i have to take in to account that everyone else in my home is going to be wanting to eat these vegetables so if i do cook say half a bag of broccoli or cauliflower then that leaves half a bag for 4 other people 3 of which are grown adults Yes i know i can do that which i have been doing But i can t expect my parents to go out buying me all these foods all the time PHIL not that i am aware I have around 2 00 on some occasional days and that won t get me far in terms of buying food for a meal Yes carrots peas sweetcorn potatoes all of which you can t eat on phase 1 Yes my parents do eat vegetables on a daily basis hence the broccoli and cauliflower They have an ample amount of carrots peas potatoes and all sorts of vegetables that aren t acceptable foods 13 983 Posts Send PM Ellen Reply 7 3 days 18 hours ago No Just have your portion along with them with a moderate meat or fish portion and maybe a knob of butter and it s a good meal At colleges if you have free meals choose vegetables perhaps avoid sweet corn but choose preferably things like broccoli and cauliflower of y and againmeat or fish If they do spaghetti bolognese see if you can have just the neat sauce which may not be too bad or the same with chilli Avoid rice or pasta and the time but pick out the more Atkins friendly options If you are struggling check out phase two

help to reduce fluid retention and combined with exercise this may ease symptoms What methods did you use to lose 100lbs How much more are you looking to lose 108 Posts Send PM christine Reply 5 1 week ago Thank you Linda for your reply Actually I lost 124lbs 100lbs with WW on their Filling and Health plan now No Count but I did choose low carb option veg and fruit food along with the lean meats and fish but it was a slow going several years The group leader was very supportive and the other members and there was no embarrassment of turning up to a group session being the very large lady and of course the lipoedema was not know about I have never put any of it back on My exercise increased enormously as the weight disappeared and I could move freely The 24lbs I lost on my own before starting WW using the old Atkins plan after the initial few weeks of good weight loss it settled into a long process I just never gave up I do like low carb eating I am much better in terms of energy I do miss WW for the face to face support but the eating plan does not have enough fats to keep me from being hungry which is why I have come back to Atkins Plus any questions are answered quite quickly by someone even several people To be honest I have also looked at the Harcombe plan as well mainly because it is English based rather than adapted from America There was not much to split the two other than there is the option of having carb meals if one chooses I do not know how much I still need to lose due to the Lipoedema I have only had one clinic appointment another later this month and I have loads of questions including how do I know how much weight is normal body fat and how much do I allow for the lipoedema Providing I stay at the weight I am at present 15st 10lbs which has been static for some months then I am probably burning everything I am eating and not laying down normal body fat I am not eating outside of the guidelines although I have moved to Phase 2 because I would not be able to remain on Phase 1 for ever Some berries with cream now and again is a nice option I have the lipoedema on my thighs which developed at puberty so there is a problem in the summer with sore rubbed inner thighs and more recently it has developed on my forearms I will probably be given compression garments to help 6 455 Posts Send PM Linda Reply 6 6 days 23 hours ago wow amazing well done on losing so much You ll find that the higher fat intake on Atkins should help you to lose more weight The amount you retain is probably very individualised
