  • Week 2 disappointment! Should I be worried? | Atkins diet - Atkins™ Low Carb Diet
anyway as I have a lot of weight to lose but this feels really defeating I keep reading that the first two weeks you re supposed to lose quite a lot quite quickly Am I just expecting too much I am definitely grateful that my appetite has decreased significantly and I m craving carbs a lot less but if I m only going to lose 0 8 kgs a week on only 20g of Carbs I m never going to get out of phase 1 I d really appreciate the input of others who are in the know Do you guys remember if you lost a lot in Phase 1 and if it was spread out evenly across the 2 weeks I should add that I ve been to the gym a couple of times in the last week or so so maybe just maybe it has to do with that I have still lost 2cm off my waist so that s good but I guess I m fixated on the scale numbers And before anyone suggests I weigh myself less I just can t do that yet I am obsessed with the numbers at the moment because the reality is that even with 4kgs less I m not noticing a huge difference but the numbers keep me happy 13 983 Posts Send PM Ellen Reply 6 2 days 17 hours ago well clearly not if you re wondering whether you should be worried If the scales dictate your mood then avoid them and go by clothes 6 Posts Send PM Margaret Reply 7 2 days 17 hours ago Think of it this way that crazy initial loss was probably water weight and now things have slowed down you are losing fat yeah way to go 13 983 Posts Send PM Ellen Reply 8 2 days 16 hours ago During the first week you use glycogen stores from your muscles and liver and with it goes associated water You will also lose a little fat Once the glycogen has gone you may see an immediate waist size reduction because the liver is reduced in size and it sits in the waist area After that your body calls upon its fat stores for energy but it has to learn to do it efficiently because it is used to burning sugar for energy After that it gradually becomes fully adapted over a period of three or four weeks so that it switches more happily between sugar and fat for energy During that few weeks ketosis is fragile in other words any influx of carbs and it will switch immediately back to burning sugar but it doesn t necessarily switch straight back to fat burn So if you have a fall in those weeks it may take a few days to get back into ketosis 580 Posts Send PM Lee Reply 9 2 days 16 hours ago 4 4 kg in two weeks is fantastic Yeah I lost that for a few weeks

  • Staying in induction for a long time. Can I add some variety? | Atkins diet - Atkins™ Low Carb Diet
high fat low carb greek yoghurt for dessert most evenings 207 Posts Send PM James Reply 3 21 hours 18 minutes ago I have experimented with things like slim noodles mims diabetic sweets and as phil above I have a small bowl of full fat total with a few blueberries sometimes I also use keto stix to gauge my level of ketosis and also to test if i m knocked out of ketosis by the odd treat I find that helps with the gradual awareness building This diet has been a gradual learning process I ve had set backs and made mistakes but it s all been moving toward a more intuitive awareness of carbs however I m needing to lose less than you so perhaps a more rigid approach with careful tracking would be better for you edit yes thinking about it try not to get stuck in a rut but to experiment with recipes that helps ed note James 1916302 last edited this post 21 hours 17 minutes ago Our specialists Linda Nutritionist Colette Nutritionist New Atkins is based on years of scientific research and backed by medical experts Meet our Science team and Nutritionist and ask them anything Ask for help We did it Cheryl Lawson I ve replaced bad refined starchy carbohydrates which are packed with sugar with good carbs such as lots of low sugar fruits and non starchy vegetables Read more Lynn Hathaway When Lynn Hathaway 44 saw a holiday snap of herself at 15st 7lbs sat next to her young daughter she was shocked into action Read more Paul Timmins Having struggled with his weight since childhood Paul Timmins 43 went on to shift the pounds once and for all Read more Donna Alos After becoming a mum former sports fanatic Donna found
