    the bars and the salt water first especially if you re having them every day and see what happens Exercise has little effect on scale weight Lack of energy could be lack of potassium or magnesium or it could be down to hrt or a combination of both although if you have been on the hrt for a while without any I ll effects it s unlikely to be that Many thanks for the advice Ellen The overall weight gain has been about 2 lbs but it fluctuates by around 1 lb from one day to the next if that makes sense I drank the salt water because I was feeling Atkins flu symptoms I had it instead of broth because I ran out of home made broth I haven t been able to find sugar free stock cubes I m still perplexed about to how deal with the hunger especially if I should potentially be reducing fat calories I went to bed really hungry last night 13 983 Posts Send PM Ellen Reply 4 3 weeks 3 days ago No I m not saying reduce calories I m saying shift the balance The point is this as you increase carbs it means there is more sugar in your bloodstream which your body will use for fuel Once it s used this then it will use fat but if there s more fat has been ingested than it needs it will store it Now initially there won t be more fat than it needs but there will be more ingested fat at its disposal because it s running for more time on sugar Bit for 5 carbs you would be only talking about half a teaspoon of fat So again at the beginning it s neither here nor there but when your carbs start to get higher like at 30 carbs it s an extra 40 calories which equals pretty much a teaspoon of fat and so on it starts to become more significant You are gradually reaching a stage where carbs plus fat eaten is equal to your daily energy requirements That way your weight remains stable The atkins bars are a different matter altogether Many people find that they inhibit weight loss It may be the sweetener in them or it may just be a chemical reaction have you seen the ingredients but it s not necessarily the calorie content So swap the Atkins bar for a booked egg or sliced meat or whatever from the real food list and see what happens Some people have a similar reaction when they introduce nuts and some people have the same reaction with cheese which is also significant in your menu But to find out if there s a problem with any of these you either need to drop all three and swap them for other things and if this start moving then reintroduce them but one at a time and monitor the reaction or you need to drop one
