    Wednesday s win over Valletta in the FA Trophy will be back in action in the BOV Premier League this afternoon They will be seeking to extend their positive run when they face Sliema Wanderers FC which might be a tough nut to crack Still in a buoyant mood after the booking their place in the Quarter Final of the FA Trophy at the expense of Valletta for the second year running the Stripes will be turning their attention back to the BOV Premier League with the aim of keeping the heat on the league leaders Six points under leaders Valleta but with a game in hand which is scheduled for next Wednesday against St Andrew s the Stripes will be hoping to continue building on last Wednesday s satisfactory performance and on the three wins in a row in the Premier League In their last three outings in the league the Stripes had three consecutive wins Identical 3 0 victories against Pembroke Athleta and Mosta respectively were followed with a 1 0 win against Qormi where despite dominating for long stretches it was an own goal that settled the issue On the other hand Sliema Wanderers will be hoping to get back on track when in their last match which was marred with a number of controversial decisions they saw their unbeaten four match run coming to an end with a 2 1 defeat against Floriana The Wanderers are occupying the eighth place with twenty four points just one point under Mosta and three points over Pembroke Athleta Before the defeat against Floriana they were coming from three victories scoring twelve goals in two matches with a 6 3 win over Qormi and a 6 1 victory over St Andrew s and a 1 1 draw against Mosta Birkirkara

    fourth round showdown by Ayrton Galea 20th January 2016 Arch rivals Birkirkara holders of the FA Trophy and Valletta two of the main contenders for the domestic titles this season will this evening be going head to head in the fourth round of the FA Trophy Both teams are expected to come to this match with all guns blazing as Birkirkara and Valletta are enjoying good runs in the BOV Premier League The Stripes made them three from three in their last outings while Valletta extended their unbeaten run to seven matches despite having only to settle for a point in the 1 1 draw against Tarxien Rainbows Undoubtedly the most active team during this transfer market the Stripes made major changes to their squad They will be hoping to deliver an early statement of their work in the January Transfer Market where they have revamped their squad during the first three weeks of the month The Stripes are expected to have no less than five new faces in their squad Following the acquisition of Edison Bilbao who already made his debut the Club acquired the services of Matthew Guillaumier from St Andrew s while they signed four new foreigners These are goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric defender Christian Bubalovic midfielder Mislav Andelkovic and the Club s latest signing Goran Mujanovic Birkirkara are still searching to beat Valletta this season as the latter have won both matches in the BOV Premier League In the first round match Valletta scored a late goal to emerge as winners with a 2 1 score while in the second round match two goals in each half gave them a 4 0 win The last meeting between these two sides in this competition was last year when in the Semi Final the Stripes eliminated Valletta thanks to

    January 2016 Joseph Zerafa made it no secret that the last defeat against Valletta is still on his team s mind and they will be all out to have their revenge next Wednesday when they go head to head in the fourth round of the FA Trophy The determination of Joseph who is one of the players who has been the longest with the Club is evident every time he steps on the pitch and his eagerness was also clear as he starts this interview talking about the upcoming big match The only thing I can say about the Valletta game is that it s payback time We made it very clear to the new players that this game is very important for us and hopefully they can give us an extra push with their quality and extra motivation He added Valletta in my opinion were very lucky against us last game Everything was going their way and luck helped them a lot I could never imagine us getting that result but hopefully that was a one off We asked Joseph about his first impressions of the new players and he said The new signings are blending in very well with the team In training they show great quality and hopefully they will show this quality in competitive matches They are very motivated and I think that is what they have more than the players that they replaced The Stripes not only brought new signings but also appointed Mr Drazen Besek as the new Head Coach back in December Joseph said The coach is very disciplined as we expected and his training is of very high intensity Training is very intense but always with the ball We are training to have a more aggressive mentality especially without the ball The
