    by close or by far to this unparalleled learning ground known as École de Joaillerie de Montréal The exhibition will transport the visitor throughout classic and modern worlds by showcasing eclectic and uncommon works RESONANCE STATEMENT Resonance provokes a vibration an energy that is transmitted from one person to another Ideas either clash or they vibrate harmoniously The initiators of this project wish to tackle under the theme of Resonance the question of the transmission of knowledge The project underlying this exhibition is located at the level of the exchange between teacher and student a relationship in which the student receives an enormous amount of information and also in which the teacher often comes out somewhat transformed The fourteen teachers of the École de Joaillerie de Montréal participating in this exhibition all chose to team up with a student Some crossed paths at the school many years ago others more recently Even if all have in common that they set foot in this school either to study or to teach each person has followed very different paths giving rise to discussions and to the effervescence of new ideas Each duo worked to conceive new creations by seeking inspiration through personal meanderings or by exploring themes and techniques that contribute to the exchange and sharing of knowledge This teamwork allowed the jewellers to take up new challenges and to push back their own personal limits whether in the creation conception or in the production technique processes ECOLE DE JOAILLERIE DE MONTREAL Founded in the 1970s by Madeleine Dansereau first Quebec female jeweller and Armand Brochard another well known jeweller who presided the Conseil des métiers d art for more than twenty years the École de joaillerie de Montréal satisfied an urgent need in the milieu that of having guidance in the

    based on both the inner quality of each type of wool and according to what they convey in each individual work Andrea Graham exhibits teaches and lectures internationally and is recognized for her technical skill and her innovative approach In 2013 she was a finalist at the Niche Awards which underline outstanding work in Canadian and American craftsmaking and was named one of the top influences in contemporary fibre art by Fiber Art Now magazine Graham s work has been integrated into numerous prestigious corporate art collections such as the Bronfman family for the Claridge Inc and her work has been shown in museums and galleries in Canada the U S A France and Italy She has received multiple grants for both projects and exhibitions from the Ontario Arts Council Most recently she was awarded a creation and development grant as an established artist ANDREA GRAHAM ARTIST STATEMENT Whether expressing ideas inspired by plant life the human body or architecture there is a common organic element that I feel arouses curiosity and a primal visceral reaction that may be easier experienced than articulated It is this connection and dialogue with the material that captivates me and allows me to translate
