    of Notre Dame Rozay en Brie thirty miles east of Paris This church contains a wonderful historic organ of 1690 played by the great François Couperin which was perfect for this music The CD contains the Antiphon Ave regina coelorum the Magnificat pour le Port Royal the Christmas Cantata In Nativitate and the Stabat Mater pour les religieuses ethereal sensuous and yet deeply devotional music Also included is organ music by Nicholas Antoine Lebègue c 1631 1702 and Guillaume Gabriel Nivers c 1632 1714 which gives Alastair an opportunity to explore the wonderfully vivid colours of the organ The singers delectably pure sweet sound rhythmic liveliness and stylish ornamentation perfectly capture the spirit of some beautiful and inventive music ideally suited to its very specific purpose Elizabeth Roche The Daily Telegraph January 2006 Donna Deam Faye Newton and Gill Ross sing beautifully with support from six other sopranos in chorally reinforced sections Ross s accompaniments and solos are exemplary as one might expect from an experienced keyboard player who has been the backbone of several English Baroque bands The church s wonderful acoustic is reverberant yet modest and is perfect for enabling the singers to project effortlessly David Vickers The

    by Marc Antoine Charpentier 1643 1704 The official launch of the CD was in St John s Smith Square Thursday 16th February 2006 at 7 30pm Followed by performances in Gower Festival Saturday 14th July 2007 With the ladies of Swansea Bach Choir Douai Abbey Saturday 6th September 2008 St Michael s Church Framlingham Suffolk Saturday 3rd September 2011 Handel and his predecessors in Italy Music by Luzzaschi Monteverdi Carissimi Rossi and Steffani and including Handel s wonderful Italian duets The group was launched with this programme which we sang in the Göttingen Festival in 1997 Our next performance is Saturday 3rd May 2014 at 7 30pm St Matthew s Church Blackmoor near Bordon Hampshire GU 33 6BS Ave Maria Sacred music for women s voices by Fauré Poulenc and Massenet This was a new venture for us breaking away from our 17th and 18th century repertoire We sang this programme in Douai Abbey on Saturday 1st September 2012 Carissimi Jephte Monteverdi Magnificat from the Vespers of 1610 Motets by Victoria and Guerrero St Michael s Church Framlingham Saturday 31st August 2013 François Couperin Messe pour les Convents With plainsong arranged by Guillaume Gabriel Nivers Queen s College Oxford Wednesday
