    requirements of the Land Use Bylaw Uncovered decks or patios not exceeding 0 6m 2 from ground level A development permit will be required if a deck is to be covered or if it does not meet the setback requirements of the Land Use Bylaw For more information on whether or not permits are required please contact the Development Officer at the Municipal Office at 403 562 8833 Permit Application Forms Please note that applications will not be processed until payment has been received at the Municipal Office Payments can be made by cheque cash or debit For more information please call the Municipal Office at 403 562 8833 Development Permits Safety Codes Permits Miscellaneous Permits Development Permit Application Annual Electrical Permit Application Historic Resource Designation Application Rezoning Application Form Building Permit Application Form Permit Refund Request Form Business License Application Building Demolition Permit Application Form Electrical Permit Application Form Gas Permit Application Form Inspection Request Form Permit Extension Request Form Plumbing Permit Application Form Private Septic Permit Application Form Information Required With a Building Development Permit Application Note additional information may be required If applying for only Building or only Development contact the Development Officer to discuss submission requirements Except when otherwise permitted by an Officer with each application for a Building Permit two sets of construction plans drawings and specifications shall be submitted to the Municipality For applications that require Development Permit and Building Permit three sets of drawings shall be submitted Sufficient information shall be provided to show that the proposed work will conform to this Code and whether or not it may affect adjacent property Plans shall be drawn to scale and shall indicate the nature and extent of the work proposed in sufficient detail to establish that when completed the work and the proposed occupancy will conform to the Code Plans and specifications shall include so far as is applicable Floor plans on a scale of not less than 1 100 or legible discretion of Safety Codes Officer Dimensions of all rooms A description of the purpose of all rooms The location of all walls partitions doorways windows and other openings The finish of all floors walls and ceilings The location and description of all fixed equipment and Building sections elevations and details sufficient to determine the proposed construction meets the requirements of the Code Plans and specifications for a permit must show the proposed occupancy of all parts of the building Plans and specifications shall be drawn to scale upon substantial paper or other acceptable material and shall be of sufficient clarity to indicate the nature and extent of the work proposed and to show in detail that it will confirm to the provisions of the Act Municipal Bylaws and any other relevant regulations Each set of plans shall state the building or premises address the name and address of the owner of the building or premises a name and address of the person who prepared the plans and when an agent represents the

    Codes Permit Fees Engineering Standards Heritage Development Permit Notification Advertisements Rezoning Notification Advertisements Other Notifications Advertisements Doing Business Business Directory Business Licences Request for Proposals Tenders Public Auctions Properties For Sale Residents are advised that effective immediately all visits with the Development Officer are by appointment only In order to ensure efficient service we will no longer be accepting walk ins Please call the office at 403 562 8833 to book an appointment Planning and Development Processes Municipal Development Plan MDP The Municipal Development Plan outlines the objectives and long range goals for the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass in regards to future growth and development matters The subdivision and development approval authority must consider the objectives and policies of the MDP in its decision process The current MDP and Municipal Development Plan Background Report were completed in 2001 The Municipality of Crowsnest anticipates that the Municipal Development Plan review process will commence in 2014 Land Use Bylaw LUB The Land Use Bylaw is a regulatory document that implements the policies set forth in the Municipal Development Plan and other policy documents The LUB divides the Municipality into Land Use Districts that regulate development type and form by prescribing uses permitted discretionary setbacks parcel coverage building height parking requirements and other performance measures The LUB also sets forth the procedure for processing deciding on and appealing development permits Area Structure Plan ASP An Area Structure Plan ASP proposes a sequence of development for an area the future land uses the density of population and the general location of transportation and public utilities The plan is a statutory document that must be passed by bylaw Contact the Municipality for a list of approved ASPs See the Area Structure Plan Applications Policy or contact the Development Office at 403 563 2218 or development crowsnestpass com for details about creating an ASP Area Redevelopment Plan ARP An Area Redevelopment Plan ARP is a detailed long range plan that coordinates the conservation of existing neighborhoods from unsympathetic development proposals and sets forth policies for the redevelopment of land and buildings within the plan s boundaries The plan is a statutory document that must be passed by bylaw There are currently no approved ARPs in the Municipality Outline Plans Conceptual Schemes Outline Plans Conceptual Schemes provide a more specific planning and development framework for an area usually included with an Area Structure Plan These documents are also used to provide supporting rationale for the potential subdivision or rezoning of land Rezoning Rezoning is the process of changing the land use that applies to a property or parcel of land Rezoning is required if you wish to develop your site in a manner that is not allowed by the current zoning A completed application along with an application fee of 750 per title and supporting information to the satisfaction of the Municipality must be submitted for consideration See the Land Use Bylaw Amendment Procedure Subdivision Approval S ubdivision approval is the process to legally create new land
