    in the city of Newark you may very well find them eating and drinking at The Spot Author Ken Walker Posted on May 14 2008 Categories Restaurants Tags Dining Downtown Central Ward News Clips 2 Comments on Star Ledger There s a new hot Spot in Newark New York Times Focused Food Center Stage Focused Food Center Stage Glowing review of Newark s Theater Square Grill which can be found in the NJPAC building downtown Come to think of it it was a bit like Riverdance without the music a vast crew of servers choreographing three courses fixed price 50 with no stumbles or unseemly haste A meal at Theater Square does entail sacrifices of course Intimacy for one the dining room designed by Barton Myers the arts center s lead architect is the size of a small airplane hangar Still it remains one of the handsomest restaurants in the state a soaring airy two story space its formal geometry and muted browns blacks and whites lightened by wall sized windows that look out on the arts center s graceful plaza and the Newark skyline Author Ken Walker Posted on May 12 2008 Categories Restaurants Tags Dining News Clips Leave a comment on New York Times Focused Food Center Stage Off the Broiler Covers the Ironbound Jason Perlow at Off the Broiler sent me what could only be described as a prodigious list of articles he s written about restaurants in Newark s Ironbound I ve lived here for over two years and I still don t think I ve eaten at all the places he s covered here NJ Dining Mediterranean Manor NJ Dining Nasto s NJ Dining Seabras Marisqueira Nice Weather WEBER IX Home Rodizio NJ Dining Brasilia Grill NJ Dining Newark s Ironbound WOW My favorite so far is the small and cozy Casa Vasca walking distance from our apartment a BIG plus after a pitcher of sangria and fantastic food They ve been covered by the Ledger s food tour feature and was mentioned recently by one of the DJ s at WPLJ Go check em out and stop up at Mompou for a night cap Author Ken Walker Posted on November 28 2006 Categories Uncategorized Tags Dining Ironbound East Ward Newark Leave a comment on Off the Broiler Covers the Ironbound Mompou Reviews Well Newark Star Ledger Tempting bite size delicacies at Mompou The Newark Star Ledger positively reviewed Mompou the tapas wine bar up on Ferry street in the Ironbound I agree with them my wife and I were there back in March after they d been open for about eight months and had a great time The exposed brick and copper ceiling makes this restaurant look as though it was plucked from Chelsea or Tribeca Mompou has prime real estate two blocks from Penn Station and during the summer Mompou opens its doors out to the sidewalk so patrons can enjoy the culture of nearby Iberia Find out more at their website Mompou
