for that bag each leg of your trip Here is where I am going At today s current market rate that same kit will cost out at approx 16 5 K and due to the inept nature of TSA and increasing silliness in Customs can create a massive boondoggle as one passes through those security checkpoints One sage colleague of mine who has possibly logged more air miles than any of us related a horrific episode at LAX Customs recently when they searched his gear and threatened to confiscate it think terrorist not action sports or nature enthusiast So one recent tack and possible solution has arisen The telephoto zoom Here are two The Canon 200 400 f4 IS and the Sigma 120 300 F 2 8 The problems with telephoto zooms are largely compositional most of us know we need the 880 MM of a teleconverted 600 F4 frequently The benefits are various But the economic issue remains the same Approx 13k for a lens to create imagery that in an editorial market may not ever pencil out at the approx 100 00 per page current buyout rate I will keep my 600 F4 IS V 1 and no way EVER purchase the V 2 as it makes no economic or real imaging sense I will use it when budget and access requirements make sense No way will I purchase the F 4 200 400 IS Do I want it Absolutely Does it make any economic sense None whatsoever Then there is the look of F4 versus the look of F2 8 I absolutely will purchase the Sigma 120 300 F2 8 Do I want it Umm not really to be honest It is a little heavy likely not as technically on point as the Canon But here is

by David Pu u 0 Comments There is a place on Bali which my wife insisted we visit It is a Botanical Garden Seems sort of obsequious the idea of building such a thing in a place where one could plant a broomstick and it would grow But I assure you it is anything but The place is a model of Continue Reading Posted in Blog Love Does Posted on November 1 2011 by David Pu u 8 Comments I find myself back in the office in Ventura California and once again am up before the chickens Maybe it is jetlag But I doubt it My waking dream was about love Not the manner or type of which one might think coming from somebody who just proposed marriage to his long time girlfriend Continue Reading Posted in Blog Living Bali Posted on October 24 2011 by David Pu u 0 Comments Contained within the concept of life if one examines the word itself the thing noun is not really what one may assume A look at the origins of the word takes you back to a Germanic root which actually means leave or more to the point to remain Taken yet to a more finite point Continue Reading Posted in Blog Waking Dream Posted on October 23 2011 by David Pu u 1 Comment Ever have one of those mornings where you awaken to an exceptionally pleasant reality The scenario could be anything But everything in your emergent diorama is as a sensory massage A persistent tap tap tapping drew me as a man on a rope to emerge from a rich and multi hued pool of color which slid Continue Reading Posted in Blog Touch Posted on October 17 2009 by David Pu u 11 Comments It is not

others and not just a platform for showing off our skills and the byproduct of the highly tuned expensive gear we haul around with us all over the world NYE shifted for me a couple decades and change ago when my youngest son Jonathan was born A scheduled C section birth he popped out into the world sans scalpel surprising everyone The surprises continue to this day as I watch this compassionate highly evolved human being ply his way through life Happy birthday Jon and thank you for being well you and not me That matters Not because I dislike the me in me but because every human being has a potential to leverage off the foundation of parents and forge a new world and life Though different is not always necessarily better in this complex age it is far more likely to bring with it greater adaptability and likelihood to thrive than the prior generations might have in this era The other day I headed up into our local National Forest into a place we call the Sespe With me came a close friend of mine who is an Indian and Forest Service steward monitor We spent the better part of the day and well into the night poking around in the moist chill land and air Me filming time lapses and some stills of the place as Winter began to clamp down and he doing what he does seeing more than me That is hard to do Being up slope from where I live and the beaches I surf and swim at is always a great re set and getting to do it with my friend was even better Like when he pointed out the cross in the scene above and said simply What do you think of
