last My product output in motion and stills offers the maximum amount of creative freedom and minimal amount of office time while rendering THE MOST economical and highest quality work I have ever produced That means great benefit can be imparted with a maximum of return and the highest quality of work ever I could actually OWE the IRS something some day soon The last 10 years have seen a perpetual investment in new tech and equipment just so that creative quality could stay ahead of the global curve The other day my Google alert showed two interesting items One a new tech Mac right as I was about to push the buy now button on a Nehalem Processor machine and the new Canon 1DS Mark 4 I am now waiting on the new 6 core Mac which should arrive around the first of the 2010 year I will never own the 1DS Mark 4 It sends me in the wrong direction for the type of work I do Thankfully I know enough to NOT jump on new and bigger read that more expensive as being better Though for some the streamlined work flow the 1DS Mark 4 offers and high FPS firing and unlimited ISO settings will be a boon those things will not be for me The market in editorial commercial and art is in exactly the same quandry as they look at the work produced Inevitably some new person comes along and for awhile cruises to the relative top of the heap But in short order the market levels that climb and the new guy is often sent off the back of the competitive global imaging pack The thing is that my colleagues are remarkably bright talented and driven We all moderate each other It is part

came from but suspected that maybe it had been Lombok due to the people bearing a strong resemblance to those who reside on that island A volcano eruption poor diet a persistent problem with goiter and a few other environmentally related issues had combined to provide a lack of real history due to memory loss In effect these people are the tribe that the world had forgotten Such was the poverty endemic to the area when David found them that they themselves knew little of their ancestral past In terms of Western understanding THAT is true loss and deprivation not having a history No connection to anything The ability to smile which is such a part of Balinese culture it was simply not there I will not attempt to communicate how EBPP exactly restored hope and at he same time implemented the tribe as a model of social and environmental restoration right now I will simply say that the feat is of such scope that as I met and interacted with the children this day I had a hard time keeping back the tears because I understood that not only did these children have hope but that a future now exists where only death and oblivion had loomed prior We are hard at it and time is short for writing and imaging but I hope that in future I will have more available in order to tell the complete story So I will let the images do the talking And later the motion picture may as well document this day that occurred in a dry river wash in the lee of the volcano which had almost obliterated a tribe They are back And in their return David Booth has shown us a way that we can transform our own society potentially It is a great story that will make the world smile We all need hope No matter what our lot in life At days end at the home and in the temple of our friend Gusti Made Merta prayers of thanksgiving went up Christian with the Hindu And you realized what the affect of a life could be and for some maybe ought to be and for a few will be Hate division and separation are odd and common bedfellows Love is a better way It is much stronger We saw the affects of it today The Drive Pit Stop The Road Up Children of EBPP Must NOT Smile She did Beauty David Booth a Child s View Sidelined for a Moment A few tents in sandy wash Weaving and Sowing Vetiver grass Games Ready Set What an Ambassador really does Mary and David Booth and a couple hundred friends Dance Ecoturin Sustainable Culture Posted in Blog A Bali Journal 2 Bali Journal 4 Detritus 7 Responses to Bali Journal 3 A Day Apart Pete Clements says August 19 2009 at 12 41 am Awesome I am taken back by this I had some rough luck this past week

  • David Pu’u: Film School Project
So I have always been a big fan of your work I see from your website you have been doing some video things as well I would just like to get some background info about you For my project I need to talk about you from 3 min So whatever info is most important Some questions Where did you grow up Santa Barbara Ca Here Google can be your friend sometimes Or the road to massive distraction if one is ADHD prone like I am http www davidpuu com p 7882 http www youtube com watch v N9rJJSiUy0I Where did you attend college SBCC I was in Pre med and transitioned to business Never finished my 4 year degree came close as I was already running a company on the radio as a personality and doing entertainment based projects When did you start photography When I was 12 My Dad was a map maker and Photographer in the Military He gave me his Army issue Nikon kit and I self taught What was your first job out of college I never had one I worked my way through as a Restaurant Manager and Production Manager for a packaging company Then transitioned into Professional Athletics as a competitive Cyclist and Professional Surfer When and how did you start your business Which one There are 4 right now I have pretty much run my own companies since I was 24 I am 57 now What kind of camera do you use Depends on what I am trying to create My last film was shot for Nat Geo on an innovative high speed 3D system which WHOI built for me from scratch I own a large Canon film and DSLR kit for stills and have a large high speed film kit which I built for high speed motion picture capture The way that this works is that I am required to know how to work on any system in existence For example on my first film project as a Director of Photography the director asked me if I could shoot on a specific camera System made by Photosonics I said yes no problem They hired me I called Photosonics up and went in and they tutored me on their system If I had needed more help I would have hired an AC Understand I rocked the shoot BTW How is making the transition from photo to video I have never been a Videographer I am a Cinematographer A Videographer turns on the camera and documents action A Cinematographer uses choreographed camera moves and looks to facilitate telling a story What lies ahead in the future Depends on what you are asking about really I am not being flippant That is a really odd question for me I would need it to be very specific You don t have to answer all of these but maybe we can talk on the phone sometime Where are you located I am in Ventura Ca A Bio
