raws in LR5 into jpegs then re import and output in slideshow mode as a 30 FPS time lapse MP4 the 70D once again failed registering the dreaded error 20 Keep in mind that this is the same body that failed on it s first commercial shoot ever It was sent back via CPS and they repaired it under warranty Soon after I sent it in again as AF was really bad CPS fixed it attributing it to a bad circuit board I got to pay for that one Yep back to CPS it will go when I return to the US Though I really appreciate what Canon created in the 70D my copy is without a doubt the single most failure prone body I have used in 18 years of professional Photography Those failures get expensive very rapidly when one is on the road or in a production scenario The 5DM2 has performed perfectly The camera continues to be a model of reliability and excellence in imaging Consider this that the SPL housing was made for this same body and to date it has been swum regularly in oceans around the world It has had the shutter and sensor replaced once by CPS It just works Possibly the most reliable camera of these 18 years shooting No failures by either housing or camera body in an incalculable number of swims well over 2000 It presents quite a challenge to both SPL and Samsung as I prepare to replace this older system with a new one I am quite excited about it But now away in Bali with more time ahead yet on location my time lapse rig is down Fortunately BOTH my Samsung NX1 AND the GO PRO 4 can manage time lapse duties in several ways that are actually almost better than the 70D The NX1 has three settings in video mode that all capture various frame rate intervals and converts to whatever format you like using the Wondershare program from the native H 265 format Pretty sweet Or you can shoot in raw or jpeg as singles stills using the cameras built in timing system and process in LR As I write this both the GoPro and Samsung are collecting time lapse images The poor 70D is a paper weight Once more the Samsung shines brighter than any camera I have ever used It is extremely versatile and at this point quite facile for me to use in diverse creative ways Even the programmable onboard mic does a great job and I have not used my Rode videomic much as a result Sent along to me by Nick Galante on FB is a technical note Something I had learned early on about the Samsung system and had failed to mention Wish this worked for Canon Samsung customer service story I have the high end flash for the NX1 Last job it would switch from TTL to manual by itself Called Samsung support get English as second language

aside childish things as well as inconvenient things like following politicians or religious leaders who are in point of fact just doing their jobs It is important to know just what the job description entails I do not ever want to lend myself to that if I can help it This is why I have a foundational belief which causes me to approach Life and comprehension of it s complex processes in a simple manner The supreme irony of this is innate IN it s childishness This is me All that I see both visible and invisible was made for me and me for that It belongs to me I belong to it So there is an accountability love and challenge which flows in all directions It has always been this way and is integral to my cognitive as well as intuitive educational processes It is frequently labeled as being an Indigineous or Native point of view and is different from that of Western Man s somewhat adversarial relationship with this Blue Marble we spin through space and time upon Just because a person thinks something does not make it so at least not at first But eventually our thought choices will create a reality for a man woman or a culture And that can have a harmful effect if the foundational beliefs are disconnected from the manner in which our world is architected spiritually soulically and physically I spent a bit of time studying up on Consensus Reality Theory this week One of my pals who is a very together human being said something awhile ago that struck me I have learned while doing research that my mere presence in the process is able to shift the manner in which an experiment will conclude It alters the results And

surfing surf photography Sustainability travel ventura Wave Photography waves Zuri Star Heart Surgery Posted on August 13 2015 by David Pu u 2 Comments Where your heart is there you will find your treasure The above is a Bible verse Typically when one quotes these it is obligatory among theologians to cite the chapter and verse location so that people can look the lines up and read them in the larger context of the text I am not doing that here I will leave it to those who read this to sort out the reason for that I typically have reasons for most of what I do in my work and life Most of us probably do This is where the location of our heart matters so very much Recently I have been watching with great interest some of the shifts which San Francisco is undergoing With diverse types of pressure from Silicon Valley related interests and a massive historic increase in the population base of the City underway every aspect of the place is being challenged Remember that old song which was a love sonnet of sorts for SF I Left My Heart in San Francisco Well have you ever done that Left a heart behind It is easy to do The key image today was shot in SF s Union Square The corners of the Square had art installations Amidst the hustle and bustle which is the retail madhouse and history of the place someone put a heart Watching people s reaction was fascinating It matters more than we might think where we place our attention and love I question my own choices perpetually lest I lose my way Here is a quirky video piece I did for a Matt Jennings song that said a lot to me

  • Samsung NX1: Modus Augmentation
stuck with me for ages is why I am really excited about the Samsung NX1 Being of a smaller than DSLR footprint and capable of capturing professional level Audio Stills and Motion it is quite obviously going to be more facile as my companion in the creation of my ongoing library acquisition work than that of any system I have used prior I am a huge fan of quality of subject in creating my work That means being at the right place and time with the right people or animals with my game on Everything I do is predicated on my perception of and relationship with creation For example from Nov to Feb every year since 1997 I have swum with a camera sometimes 7 days a week from 45 minutes before dawn to up to 1 1 2 hours after dawn Conditions dictate frequency not my own desires Generally no one is around unless I have managed to convince a surfer to wake up at o dark thirty pull on damp rubber in 40 50 degree icy offshore winds and paddle out into the pre light And it is not solely waves and surf that see this tack I use it on every subject It is June here in Southern California and along with the grey dampness of the marine layer comes a desire to re visit my shoot files from earlier in the shoot year Here are a few that I pulled out of the digital limbo that is my raw file folder A calm still moment while fog drifts into the frame Pelican Shadow caught in the offshores and dawn light One of my favorite places Out takes from December always look better in June The other day I went for a walk run up nearby Sulphur Mountain In my right hand was the little Samsung NX1 and the kit lens 16 50mm F 3 5 5 6 OIS power zoom It was so easy to photograph some of the striking and bizarre things which exist on that fire road bike hike trail Nature seems to co exist with a line item that within our culture is thought of as being the antithetical enemy oil Oil rises up from tar pits and flows down the mountain in a few places Seeing as it is directly in the watershed well that is an odd un and fun to look at The oil deposits were first discovered during the Lincoln administration and were part of the series of telltales that did two rather dramatic things led to the California oil boom and consequently the demise of the whaling industry where whales were hunted and the blubber reducted for it s oil Here are a few images from my sweaty little run a couple miles up and down the Mountain Everything dies But everything lives first Pretty hilarious someone sunk into the mud and tar while dipping their water bottle in Oil stream bed Sulphur Mountain Ventura Ca In my
