all of the Arts to effect the climate of the human heart and soul Once again a Facebook post by a friend illustrated the outrage that runs close to the surface in American Culture at a Govt which seems to have run amok They had been discussing the Clinton family criminal record and apparent lack of prosecutorial action to rein in what many see as an ongoing insult to the Nation Below is what I wrote It is as much a reminder to myself as it was to my friends We hold a lot of responsibility and power both as Americans and as creative lights Living in a Nation which at incalculable expense has established itself as the proverbial monster in the room with over 1000 the actual number is not public military bases installations globally and an Imperialistic potentiality that makes Ghengis Khan appear as an amateur we have a lot to live up to So why do we put up with what we see in Politics Just a simple question Maybe ask yourself this why do I play along Every creative has a great personal responsibility to question their belief structure and do so perpetually Why Because what we make will alter the human heart and cumulatively that affects events which determine the course of History It really is not the politicians who hold court in the halls of power It is us That is why when you look at History the despots come for the Artists first But not in the way we pridefully believe to shut us up They come to purchase us So here is my question What is your price Here is a beautiful piece from HBO and Steven Spielberg On the surface very inspiring and humbling But beneath a darkness swirls The Krissoff

and wondrous Or some fair shape I viewing worship Or lustrous orb of sun or star by night Be ye my Gods Seth Godin s blog was the next thing which struck me The words are pasted below The difference between commitment and technique We spend way too much time teaching people technique Teaching people to be good at flute or C or soccer It s a waste because the fact is most people can learn to be good at something if they only choose to be if they choose to make the leap and put in the effort and deal with the failure and the frustration and the grind But most people don t want to commit until after they ve discovered that they can be good at something So they say teach me while I stand here on one foot teach me while I gossip with my friends via text teach me while I wander off to other things And sure if the teaching sticks then I ll commit We d be a lot more successful if organized schooling was all about creating an atmosphere where we can sell commitment and where people will buy it A committed student with access to resources is almost unstoppable Great teachers teach commitment Teacher and writer Gwendolyn Lawrence Alley had commented on my share of the blog on Facebook and a discussion had ensued regarding digital devices in the classroom and the role or lack thereof in the development of education I appreciate my friends So when I am with them I tend to leave my iphone in the car For me a digital device augments my world but I must never let it filter my connection to another else I would become something other than an artist I might not

  • Of Mice and WOmen: Bali
Brenegar is working on a book based on the stories we tell ourselves This would be a good example of someone doing that and turning it into a business model His lecture series Reclaiming the Real is fantastic You can get the s tudy links here That is what we all seek our truth reality To me Donna s is an intensely honest and forthright one though few people know what she is really all about She seldom mentions those significant things Today we are in East Bali once more and our last few days here on the island are a combination of sedate luxury while staying at a beautiful villa and having meetings along with time shared as husband and wife Donna and I have a unique relationship by US standards When we fell in together she had to manage the fact that some of my closest friends and colleagues are women But that door swung both ways as she with her global perspective was equally close to men around the world I think that what makes this situation comfortable for us is the trust that neither of us is going anywhere We are in this together on a level that is spirit soul and body one of the more beautiful synergistic walks I have ever experienced My Cinematography work here has involved doing a fairly nonstop run with the Canon 70D capturing stills for time lapse sequences night and day Some shoot sequences have been as long as 10 hours I am generally using 1 0f 4 recipes for shot frequency and lenses and so far have amassed over 20 unique motion time lapse pieces I am using a Canon 24 70 F2 8 L series 1 lens An exceptionally sharp version after Canon serviced and re columnated it As well as the Tokina 11 16 ATX pro F 2 8 series 2 which is possibly the highest resolving lens I have seen in a zoom format It is rectalinear While these sequences roll and I maintain my camera position through all manner of weather it is the rainy season here some of the squalls are violent and no matter what I do sometimes I get water drops on the lens and must clean it I also typically have the Canon 5DM2 in hand and am working whatever my staging area is for stills simultaneously The kit which I am traveling with is by far the lightest most austere ever in my career A fantastic cornerstone of it is my Apple 13 MBP which is a 2013 version The cheapest one with dual 2 5 GHZ i5 processors 16 GB of Ram and a Seagate 750GB Hybrid drive for the OS You can purchase and build a system like mine for under 1500 B H in NYC is a great place to do a one stop shop and buy My entire kit this trip fits in a Ruggard topload bag I can carry it aboard flights and it

I launched into my career in Photography Solitude created me as an Artist I am not special in that regard essence ˈesəns noun the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something esp something abstract that determines its character conflict is the essence of drama Philosophy a property or group of properties of something without which it would not exist or be what it is an extract or concentrate obtained from a particular plant or other matter and used for flavoring or scent So much of life gets lost in being led by the voice on the end of a digital leash I have been thinking a lot about that of late You may want to as well possibly Do your connections make you happier Or do they lead to something else You see we are informed by essence Anything less is just inferior Being informed is very significant to our sense of peace and yes personal power as individuals and vital members of a community or tribe Here is an interesting performance by Nahko Bear Life Essence The song is called Wash it away I have been spending a lot of time in the water this week Some radical life stresses were left at the shore as I was forced to follow the call of the Ocean s voice and conditions that is such an intrinsic part of who and what I am and informs my career as a water photographer and film maker Here are a couple of about 40 A listers I got to spend some time with my colleague and friend Shawn Alladio this week By phone Again the digital leash We don t talk much by phone But it helps some time It generally leads us to the essence that is our friendship The real My

today Seth Godin writes on going Beyond Geography A lot of us who are connected to Seth via his groups Triiibes Linchpins or Krypton College have been watching him expand the scope of his work and are finding it a large and scalable resource in the building of our own projects Something many do not know about my work I am a surf photographer right is that due to my connection to our world and manner that I experience it that I am frequently asked to engage in organizational development for scalable concept Companies and Organizations Recently after a number of things came to light in a project which I was heavily invested in over a period close to two years and just as it appeared I had brought funding and some needed structure to the company I resigned Why Accountability Whose My own I could no longer be on that team and do what they needed me to do So I left The act of doing so of course is like tearing a piece out of one s life But when that portion threatens to corrupt the whole we must make a choice Right now I am involved in the development of a total of six large concept scalable companies in my work One which I am Co Founder of is the Oceanlovers Collective which is a concept company designed to connect people who love and know the Ocean to a world which does not have the first hand understanding which the Ocean Tribe possesses The idea behind the company is to develop Ocean themed media and products which reflect the Authenticity of the Tribe members and convert both the intellectual property and any profit into benefit for Change Agents around the world Oceanlovers is a connector The other
