would be picking up to keep things bearable before I got started It s supposed to be in the low 70s 23 C tomorrow but I didn t want to lose too much time First thing I did was get the coolant topped off I pulled the thermostat and added about a gallon straight to the block Of course being a fresh gallon jug of coolant I splashed it a bit Then I filled the radiator It won t be fully filled until the engine s running and I can burp the system with the heater on full blast Hopefully the small amount of coolant seemingly leaking from this hardline behind the turbo was just residual from my being sloppy I d hate to have to yank the turbo AGAIN Next I cracked the drain plug on the transmission to make sure any old skeezy was drained before adding new fluid Satisfied the trans was empty not dry I began adding the pricey pink elixir Hose went in the bottle of Redline MTL handle on pump was drawn back hose proceeded to piss oil everywhere on its way to the transmission filler hole About a third of the way through the first bottle I decided I was getting as much on the driveway as I was in the tranny so I grabbed the old reliable a funnel with a hose on the end of it and filled from above In went the remainder of the MTL In went the entire bottle of MT 90 In went a little over half a bottle of Mitsubishi Diaqueen In went the filler bolt to seal things up I wiped up the mess thinking about crawling under to do the tcase next only to notice oil dripping from the rear of the transmission WTF

Brake Kleen Outer bolts got 242 and torqued to 19ft lbs plus a 1 4 turn Next order of business Stab that tranny Take one 4 cylinder hanging from a chain swaying in the breeze and one 5 speed manual transmission sitting on the ground and align along a central axis Slip the two together aligning the guide dowels on either side and securing the bolts across the top Use every 4 letter word you know Endure many cuts scrapes and bruises Regret not inviting friends over to help Spend upwards of 90 minutes trying to stab tranny With the transmission successfully mated to the engine I turned my sights on making room in the engine bay This is where things start looking pretty good Oh yeah That looks really good hanging there like that The blue tape is to remind me to re torque the bolts on the water pump before startup It s easier to tighten them with the belts on as they prevent it from spinning BAM You can t see it in these pictures but for good luck since this engine was installed on Saint Patrick s Day 2012 I picked some clover from the back yard and placed it both on the windshield which has a crack I noticed and on the valve cover At that point I wanted to press on but I was running out of steam I got the AC belt and tensioner installed then buttoned things up caught a shower and spent the evening in Tempe getting drunk with friends at a show The plan was to resume Sunday morning Mother Nature had other plans We had a 100 chance of rain all day Sunday Living in Phoenix even 100 is subject to a little doubt especially if it obviously rained before dawn This was one heck of a rainy day Vanessa helped me set up the not so easy up which we got for free because it broke the first time the original owners used it at Lake Havasu some years ago Note to my friend Josh in Indiana that s HAVE a soo not huh VAH soo The roof was dumping rain onto the tent which was then dumping it inside the garage right between me and my workbench the trunk of the other Galant is buried again I had to do something drastic to keep the rain off me 20 minutes later the sun came out sigh I ended up getting all the belts installed and snug the motor mounts are done the fuel return coil pack and transistor are connected as are the AC compressor and knock sensor After that I ran new heater hoses with new clamps of course routed the wire harness past the thermostat housing which I would like to cut off and re wire as it look shitty and connected the fuel injectors CAS and TPS With my lower back on fire all that leaning over an engine bay after hulking engines and
