  • Getting the Message Out: Internal Communications
It s a compliance or legal issue most of the time everyone has to be informed but for as important as all those messages might be they re often viewed as interruptions and wastes of time by the recipients who promptly delete them if they don t already have rules setup to do so automatically Internal communications is now starting to shift from this archaic push mindset to a more user friendly pull Push v Pull is nothing new We ve been talking about it for years but how does it apply to corporate communications The same way actually If you tell me it s important there s room for doubt If I tell you it s important it really is Email blasts are irritating Chances are your internal analytics prove this When was the last time you looked at those numbers Blast people with six announcements a week which don t directly impact them in their eyes and they stop caring but consistently provide multiple sources for the same information in a variety of formats and watch as they start to come to you for the very same thing Business 101 value proposition Connecting people ideas If there was one idea I d like to connect more people to behind the firewall it would be that we re all customers We all depend upon each other just as the customer depends upon us Our combined potential is greater than the sum of our individual abilities United we stand divided we fall so internal communications should focus on letting everyone know about all the things happening around the organization helping everyone understand and connect with business goals initatives inviting everyone to be part of something larger than themselves improving customer service internally and externally It s about helping each other do our jobs better through improved access to information A lot of people might think news behind the firewall means birthdays babies and bowling scores but keeping things strategic is important as a way to drive the business through people better understanding the business Different strokes I ve heard a lot of statistics lately suggesting the future of the web and knowledge sharing will be video based People are still podcasting too but everyone has their own reasons for why they prefer one medium over another Personally I prefer to read blog posts and articles and not for the reason you might think Having to slow my intake to match the pace of someone speaking in a video or podcast irritates me but as recently as last week I sat in a meeting where someone said he preferred watching listening to information to reading it My thoughts on literacy in the United States aside it just goes to show If we want people to seek out information and process it into knowledge in addition to providing it consistently we need to consider their preferences Long term free for all The Hippie 2 0 side of me says go for it

  • [resolved] Bizarre TPS Issues | DR1665
to explain At idle the TPS typically reads something like 10 15 At WOT it should read 100 Makes sense right For whatever reason when ambient air temps have been over 70 F more often than you might expect I live in Phoenix once everything under the hood got up to operating temperature the TPS on 464 would do like a 180 on me idling at 99 100 All those lines in the lower half of the graph above All TPS All on its own My foot never touched the gas I just let it die Top graph is RPM TPS was replaced last night This morning marked my first problem free commute in about three months Throttle response seems better too lulz What else is new 195 is still at the shop getting caged low priority 464 went in for a tire balance and alignment last weekend tire was said to be too far gone I disagree outer tie rod said to be shot preventing alignment This weekend 464 will be getting new outer tie rods and a tire rotation This weekend 464 will be getting that one tire balanced 464 is little over 2wks out from attending the

  • Temperature-Related Misfire Villainy!
come up with has to do with the ambient air temperature being above 70 F and the coolant temp being soundly into normal operating temperature Could it be the CLT coolant temp sensor A F is calculated based on airflow and coolant temperature If the CLT signal is dropping out the ECU could be getting mixed signals jumping between 190 F and 40 F for example Fuel delivery goes crazy the lean rich pendulum sways wildly back and forth before flooding out Could it be the fuel pump getting old I ve heard of high mileage fuel pumps getting hot and flaking out but it s definitely not dependent upon fuel level the issue happens on both nearly empty and nearly full tanks So because I was out in the garage the other evening tinkering while waiting for a phone call from a Canadian rally driver Gearbox interview I decided to chop out and replace the obviously worn out AC switch connection That clearly hardened bit of wire harness is also what connects the CLT to the ECU so it s still a prime culprit Here s a couple more shots It was a quick n dirty repair I ve

  • September Update
it s always hot here in Phoenix and a blend of MTL MT 90 in the transmission Of course the transmission seems to be leaking from somewhere mysterious It s not leaking from the fill or drain plugs or even from the passenger side axle seal Probably driver side axle seal but it will have to wait until the black car is back together I refuse to have two Galants with no engines in them and spend a weekend out in the sun racing to get a transmission swap done before work on Monday MLR If I haven t mentioned it yet I m now a member of the Mitsubishi Lancer Register MLR Disclosure I was given a membership by the founder so I might explore the community deeper after interviewing him for Gearbox Magazine Considering I m doing a Mitsubishi magazine online I am very impressed with the MLR s Wastegate Chatter product Hope I might one day be able to do something similar If you ve got an Evo MLR is a great place to spend time The Autobahn Vanessa and I spent the first two weeks of the month in Germany I ve spent the last two weeks back home wondering when we ll get to go back Ironic that I am vehemently against cell phone usage behind the wheel yet felt compelled to compose a shot of the speedo as I was doing about 105mph in the slow lane outside of Würzburg If you ve never been the appeal of the Autobahn is not the unlimited speeds most of the Autobahn now has a 130kmh limit but the fact that German drivers still know how to drive unlike the self absorbed moron operators we have in the States Everyone uses their turn signal everyone And nobody

  • MAJOR NEWS – Giving Up On Rally (For Now) | DR1665
hot lapping on a road course Hmmm So the full on rally car prep has been shelved in favor of a staged build which will allow me to get out and actually race the car In fact I ve been thinking about Project LAGR Let s Actually Go Racing for a couple days now I m excited despite my general aversion to people talking about stage one this or stage four that Here s how I ve got things organized so far It might change a bit but I m still waiting on a detailed quote from Kent on some of this work STAGE I Precision Chassis Works Front end repairs The accident damage needs to be completely repaired Nuff said FMIC piping Now that I know the SRT4 FMIC will fit and work I need it installed legitimately STAGE II Brakes and lines Until you can run an entire race with lifting you ve got enough power That in mind I d like to be able to stop the car from higher speeds without wondering if the brakes are going to fail The pads and rotors on the car today are the ones that were on the car when I bought it back in 2005 and it had been sitting outside in New Mexico for about two years before that I m thinking slotted rotors good pads braided lines and fresh fluid here STAGE III Helmet That s right Helmet With the front end repaired the intercooler installed and plumbed and a healthy brake system I d say it s time to go racing I m gonna need my own damn brain bucket STAGE IV Precision Chassis Works 4 point roll cage The trick here is to get the main hoop and rear supports installed Not because it s required for HPDE autox or rallyx but so I can get a harness bar in the car STAGE V Seat s Not required for HPDE autox or rallyx but it would sure beat slippery 19 year old leather seats and automatic shoulder belts when the lateral Gs kick in Harness es Not required for HPDE autox or rallyx but the same reasons apply I m not sure if HPDE requires both front seats belts to be equivalent but hope it s okay if they aren t STAGE VI Struts 195 will be a rally car and once it s back on the road I m going to spend as much time as I can OFF the road Well at least off the pavement For that reason I refuse to lower the car at all If she rocks like a boat through tarmac corners so be it The stock struts are likely blown or ready to blow at the first sign of stress A set of KYBs or Konis or even Bilsteins will be nice wherever the car runs Tint There s no AC in the car anymore I fully intend to drive to Tucson and SoCal for autox or rallyx
