strictly related to results from clinical trials research is an important activity in the cathlab and involves all staff While the principal investigator is primarily responsible for the overall design and conduct of the trial the Clinical Research Coordinator supports facilitates and coordinates the daily clinical trial activities The Coordinator needs a wide range of skills and is an important player when it comes to performing clinical trials In this session we will discuss and give a better understanding of what it means to be part of a clinical study team It will be an interactive session with expert research nurses giving tips and tricks and everyone is invited to the discussion What are the objectives of this session To appreciate the opportunity and challenges to be part of a research team To learn from expert research nurses To understand how to optimise your workflow as a research nurse Join the Clinical Reasearch session on Friday 20 May 2016 at 10 45 in Room 251 What can nurses and allied professionals expect at EuroPCR 2016 David Zughaft Nurses and Allied Professionals Programme Committee Member According to you what are the needs of the community of nurses and allied professionals in terms of education today In my mind the needs of the nurses and allied professionals in the field of interventional cardiology apply to the diversity of competencies required to work as a healthcare professional in the coronary catheterisation laboratory today Not only should the nurse and allied professional be able to care for the critical patient but also master the different materials and methods different kinds of intervention such as coronary and structural heart and in addition be able to participate in research activities What new features and scientific content will this upcoming edition of EuroPCR offer to meet these needs Just like last year we will once again have a dedicated session for the development of a Core Curriculum for nurses and allied professionals working in the cathlab The EAPCI Nurses and Allied Professionals Committee has assigned a working group chaired by Lynne Hinterbuchner that will present their comprehensive work In addition we will focus on clinical research in the cathlab an overview of the latest trial results and on how to advocate good clinical practice We will also have sessions for TAVR complex cases and the increasing use of left ventricular assist devices LVAD in the cathlab something that will be a game changer for the role of nurses and allied professionals What is your overall process to build the Scientific Programme and how was the nurses and allied professionals community involved The process started on the last day of EuroPCR 2015 where Lene Kløvgaard and I attended the on site evaluation of the Programme and got a preliminary result of the number of participants for the Nurses and Allied Professionals Programme A survey was then sent out to the nurses and allied professionals community after the summer and based on the results the 2016 Programme was developed
