of the roller coaster Find Noders in Your mind BookReader prev next Nadine 2 I like it 1 C log by sloebertje Tue Jun 02 2009 at 13 22 48 I took the bike to work today Halfway through the trip I saw on the dike on other side of the road brotherly munching grass together a goat And an ostrich Yeah I like it log by sketchwick Tue Jun 02 2009 at 21 50 36 I just finished reading Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam Harris and I don t think it s helping much I mean I m familiar with Harris but for those who aren t I think he makes some good points great points in fact about why we should stop protecting people from irrational beliefs so much I don t know exactly how much I m a big fan of protecting minority rights and I m looking forward to the day with the United States will join the rest of the civilized world and religious people WILL be minorities I can just imagine the Christians I know reading it I can imagine their anger I don t think that s how to make them listen I so want them to listen Reading the book this feeling that the US is really being held back by religion and the feeling that we could be so much better overwhelmed me I left Grand Junction on Memorial Day after arriving on Cinco de Mayo Those 20 days went a long way to understanding the other side I thought about writing about my time in GJ but I didn t until now I think I figured out why I m an interaction junkie I need a dialogue I enjoyed talking to my father no matter how much we disagreed or how little I understood the reasons behind his beliefs Writing like this generates too little dialogue You need to be famous for something you write of any length to really make a return on your investment I can always just play games Games are like books Someone created them and if they are any good they will reach a lot of people People like me who get to explore what was created Maybe I m just too selfish I mean if I tried hard enough I might be able to put a good description of the hummingbird situation at my parents house My mother keeps 4 feeders going at all times She s done this for years I wouldn t be surprised if she s actually influencing the evolution of all these hummingbirds They certainly know about the house I grew up in The back yard especially 3 feeders has become a hummingbird restaurant It s cool there is one feeder in front though because it hangs in front of the big living room window and you can watch them easily I guess it s not too hard to see in the backyard I m just not used

might argue that books are made up of plot and characterisation without them what is left Well this is a book about Art and the artist Our hero is an artist who is trying to prove something to himself he is undergoing a kind of experiment by pushing himself to the brink of death His experience is an entirely arbitrary one at any moment he could choose to try and find his way out of his starvation but perversely he refuses Why Because he wants to experience all above all because he wants to look death in the face And because the hunger is all consuming no pun intended it becomes one with his art Ultimately as Auster points out our hero systematically rejects every value of the society he lives in by this one symbolic gesture of self starvation rejects morality and survival and even God but he carries on He refuses to be cowed The artist stares the universe down and bloody mindedly carries on with life As Auster puts it There is nothing to keep him going and yet he keeps on going He walks straight into the twentieth century This is a book of consolation for a race which has just begun to suspect that it might be alone It is glorious in its determination simply to exist PS In the UK the Canongate edition is much the best translation I like it 2 C s poetry by bloodworm Wed Jun 10 2009 at 12 05 34 I write the words of my heart I don t know what they will be I stand open I let them come I write the words of my heart I send them out into the world I wish they would come back I wish they would touch another heart Who would answer Sometimes they do But mostly not Mostly I send my words out Silence is the return I wish they would come back I raise my children with love Someday they will go out into the world We have forgotten community We have forgotten to tell them to return I raise my children with love I will not forget to tell them I want you to come back You need to leave to grow To be yourself You are not grown Until you can come back with love I raise my children with love I hunger already for their return Before they have left Category Noders poetry I like it definition by Webster 1913 Wed Dec 22 1999 at 0 13 43 Hun ger n AS hungor akin to OFries hunger D honger OS OHG hungar G hunger Icel hungr Sw Dan hunger Goth hhrus hunger huggrjan to hunger 1 An uneasy sensation occasioned normally by the want of food a craving or desire for food The sensation of hunger is usually referred to the stomach but is probably dependent on excitation of the sensory nerves both of the stomach and intestines and perhaps also on indirect impressions

right My brother in law and I had been out for a while before it started raining We were in the Z For those of you who aren t gearheads rain rear wheel drive sports car lots of fun I was enjoying myself too much to go straight home so we took a little detour on the back roads When the roads got boring we looked for an empty parking lot to do some donuts in We found one though it wasn t quite a parking lot per say It was a Community Center that had a few outdoor basketball courts I proceeded to enjoy myself Once I had had my fun I decided to give my brother in law a go We were about to trade seats when I noticed two figures walking towards the Community Center from across the street They did not look pleased Wait there s a guy walking over there Yeah I wonder if he s coming over here You think it s time to go Uhh By this time the man in front was waving us over to where he stood I had to drive past him to get out of the basketball courts I didn t stop to think I quickly put the car in gear and peeled out waving peace at the two men who were now running at us as I past them Worried they might catch my license plate number and call the cops I made a sharp left turn and proceeded to gun it GO GO GO I laughed at the sight of the two rednecks running after us in my rear view Now that s something you don t see everyday I like it June 16 2009 heart loss June 18 2009 June 14 2009 It hurts November

of going back in time to save the dinosaurs But I guess George isn t all bad At least I know that unlike an ant or a termite or a bee George will not call up all his friends and say Hey guys I found this cozy little place in the Oburo family home You should seriously come settle down up here It would be wicked awesome No George is a solitary being and as far as I can tell he has not had any 6 or 8 legged visitors In a way I guess I am his only visitor since I m the only one who actually uses the family computer with any regularity It s too bad that George and I have to interact within such harsh limits but that s the way it has to be In another life perhaps I would be a fly and he could eat me or I could be a bird and eat him or maybe I d be a female spider and we could have lots of little spiders and then I would probably still eat him So maybe our current situation isn t all bad at least no one is being eaten I haven t however figured out what I ll do if one day I go to use the computer and he is no longer there I like it log by bloodworm Sun Jun 21 2009 at 2 52 43 Posted as TTFN Node Heaven It s back TTFN to you too Cockley doodley Doo Rinky tink tink I think some link s stink Whilst others are only too true I like it May 29 2009 May 31 2009 It s a song about a girl Tell me a story about bunnies June 1 2009 August 6 2004 tea

  • What I learned from the Wordmonger's Ball - Everything2.com
very interesting Here writers on Everything2 mourn people who have left and yet someone is saying to me that they are going to scare me off I answered with a limerick that admired the other author for imitating my form Ha Got you writing in the hated poetry form too After posting a poem in 2005 I had not lurk ed on the site I had read the writeups occasionally by a few writers but had not sat and watched the catbox Didn t have time and hated computers after 8 10 hours a day on the electronic medical record But awful as I think the EMR program is it had increased my typing skills and my computer navigation skills immensely I am a user not a coder I want it to do what I want it to do and it really pisses me off when I don t understand what the manual says or the IT guy says or the geek doctor says and I can t figure it out intuitively I never threw my work laptop across the room but my first one died because I hated it so much Wore out the touch screen on my second On my third when fired At any rate I started reposting all of the poems as logs I found a contest for using the word defenestrate so wrote a limerick I found a contest re Pink Ponies and wrote a limerick I was trying to argue with the gods and editors but not get banned from the site quite I was pleased to hear indirectly that there were arguments about whether I was a troll a bot and even Simulacron3 I am honored by the last I posted a poem that got chings I was writing from the perspective of a new writer on the site who arrives is young says something that is forbidden at home in the catbox and immediately gets attacked by everyone in the catbox I have seen this happen and hear me gods and editors I DON T LIKE IT AT ALL Yes I am critical of the site and yes I disagree with it If you want more new writers you need to be gentle with new people in the catbox even if they say something hostile politically incorrect or just stupid Also I don t understand much of the node that purports to explain HTML but I don t really care about that honestly I ll figure it out eventually As a physician I have to take care of people Whether I like them or not Whether they are politically correct nice evil beat their wife I know all of the really out of control drunks in town because I have taken care of them in the hospital Think about the emergency room The ER doctor and staff have to take care of the family in the car that was hit by the drunk AND THE DRUNK TOO Even if someone was killed
