even started to be stocked What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation The school has no sense of belonging to me it looks like they are trying to get rid of my child rather than keep him in school The school caters more for the local students so it seems to them as if there is no need to repatriate My child is having a very hard time adjusting to the school and making freinds but the school seems not to care and doesn t take any notice How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school Are there parent teacher organizations The activities are reasonably good however there is less than half the activities stated to be inacted as in the parent student handbook There are no parent teacher organisations aulthough there are parent teacher meetings held quite frequently What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school Overall the quality of the school is quite poor the students have no self discipline and my son has come home on several occaisions crying after getting into a fight with someone who was bullying him When I informed the administration they just said it is his problem for fighting back The academics seem to be quite sound and challenging but all the good western teachers seem to be filtering out of the school giving way to less qualified arab teachers The school has very few expat students so if enrolling your child in the school make sure he is ok with it I wouldn t reccomend the school More Parents Reviews of International Schools in UAE Glenelg School in Abu Dhabi American Community School of Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi ACS in Abu Dhabi American International School in Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi Gems American Academy in Abu Dhabi Gems american academy in Abu Dhabi American Community School in Abu Dhabi American International School Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi American International School in Abu Dhabi MADAR International School in Al Ain Dubai American Academy in Al Barsha Universal American School in Al Rashidia Dubai American Academy in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai United American School in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai American Academy for Girls in Dubai Star International School Mirdif in Dubai Dubai American Scientific School in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Horizon School in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Universal American School in Dubai Cambridge High School in Dubai Universal American School in Dubai Sheffield Private School in Dubai Universal American School in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Deans International School in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai Emirates International School in Dubai

bus train walk etc vehicle How would you describe the facilities at this school What extra curricular activities are available Nice building but poorly maintained since the owners pocket most of the tuitions in this proprietary school Classrooms are lacking since teachers do not have their own classrooms Construction occurs frequently to support a burgeoning student population What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation Actually very little The American Diploma program in the secondary school has been watered down so that the majority of the local students can graduate This has been difficult for my children The other alternative was to enter them into the IB program but the resources are very poor to support a proper education The poor quality of education does little to help students achieve the proficiency required to pass the SAT exams How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school Are there parent teacher organizations AISA does not encourage social activities involving parents except for perhaps Open House and Parent Teacher Conferences What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school Seek another school in Abu Dhabi AISA is tending more to be a local school accepting an increasing number of troubled local students who have been removed from other schools in the nation The tuitions are the second highest in the Emirate and one of the highest in the nation This proprietary school is highly profit motivated since the owners take up to 30 of the tuition as profit It seems that over the years tuitions and enrolment have risen excessively while quality of education has decreased The calibre of education at AISA is mediocre The student clients are not considered to be important Classrooms tend to be slum like with old inferior furnishings and are not attractively decorated to stimulate student learning Student bathrooms tend to smell more pungent through the day so it appears hygiene is not a major consideration Bullying of students occurs frequently AISA is segregated school where boys and girls above grade 4 are forbidden to mix If boys and girls are caught interacting the punishments can be severe including expulsion and or legal action More Parents Reviews of International Schools in UAE Glenelg School in Abu Dhabi American Community School of Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi ACS in Abu Dhabi American International School in Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi Gems American Academy in Abu Dhabi Gems american academy in Abu Dhabi American Community School in Abu Dhabi American International School Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi American International School in Abu Dhabi MADAR International School in Al Ain Dubai American Academy in Al Barsha Universal American School in Al Rashidia Dubai American Academy in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai United American School in Dubai Dubai American Academy in Dubai American Academy for

last year or two and are growing to include a bunch of new activities With faculty involvement parent interest and support our kids are able to enjoy a number of activities after school There are a number of school teams across the divisions such as swimming basketball softball soccer track badminton academic games etc offered throughout the year The junior varsity and varsity teams belong to the EMAC conference Eastern Mediteranean Activities Conference and have travel opportunities Though it s not a big school it still offers quite a bit for the kids to be involved in What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation The school has a counselor for each division Students can easily access the counselors for their transition issues Students are tracked when they enter by a team of their teachers counselor and principals to make sure they adjust well to the school socially and academically A few informal steps are taken for repatriation for students in ES and MS but high school students are given more support for their University entrances with the help of a careers counseling course and the HS counselor How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school Are there parent teacher organizations The school has a very active parents association It s not really a PTA per se it s an association of people that are members of the school community who are encouraged to volunteer to some degree at the school either by assising in fund raising helping in the classrooms helping with after school events The Association raises money through various funding activities and donates the money to the school when there are projects that need to be funded The school is a non profit school that is not subsidized so all of the money it makes comes from tuition and donations from the Association events The Association has in the past funded the physical fitness room the computer labs the shading project and recently the new huge climbing wall that is being constructed What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school For a small school this is a great place to send your kids It s intimate the classroom ratio rarely gets higher than 18 kids in a class most classes hover at the 14 or 15 kids per class level and the teachers are well qualified North American teachers most with previous international school experience The school s admissions are tight owing to recent demand The school does not really take on non English speaking kids as there is no ESL program Students who are not academically sound may be better off looking for a school that better suits them The curriculum is rigorous though exciting and students must maintain a stong work ethic to continue to be succesful at ACS
