    A mercantile customer is a commercial or industrial customer who uses more than 700 000 kilowatt hours kWh per year for non residential purposes or who is part of a national account that includes multiple facilities in one or more states O R C Sec 4928 01 By clicking the Apply Now button below you are leaving the FirstEnergy website and entering a website maintained by Applied Energy Group AEG a vendor contracted by FirstEnergy to administer online application processing for the Mercantile Customer Program AEG is entirely responsible for the content of their website How do I receive an exemption Under this program customers must sign up for an exemption from the DSE2 rider In order to receive an exemption the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio must approve the customer s application Please Note FirstEnergy s Ohio utilities have amended their energy efficiency plan to reduce customers costs while aligning with the state s recent action to freeze and evaluate energy efficiency mandates over a two year period As part of the amended plan exemptions and Commitment Payments under the Mercantile Program will continue DSE2 Rider Exemption To receive exemption from the rider your project savings as compared to your annual energy usage must meet or exceed your utility s statutory benchmark and you will be eligible to receive the exemption for as long as your project meets those standards up to 24 months In order to continue the exemption beyond the initial 24 month period your organization will need to provide a future application establishing additional energy savings and the continuance of your organization s energy efficiency program Approved projects also require annual certifications that energy savings are still being delivered for the duration of the exemption period All projects are subject to measurement and verification by the

    Saving Energy Useful Brochures Forms Communication Tools Ohio For Your Home For Your Business Save Energy Ohio For Your Business Large C I Customer Opt Out Large C I Customer Opt Out Under Ohio Senate Bill 310 certain customers have the ability to develop and implement Energy Efficiency Programs specific to their business needs rather than participating in and paying for Energy Efficiency and Peak Demand Reduction Programs offered by FirstEnergy s Ohio utilities Customers who choose to opt out will not be subject to the utility s cost recovery rider Rider DSE2 and DSE1 but also will not be able to participate in any of the Energy Efficiency and Peak Demand Reduction Programs offered by FirstEnergy s Ohio utilities Eligible Customers Starting January 1 2015 you may opt out of the utility s energy efficiency provisions if you meet one of the following criteria Receive service above the primary voltage level e g GSU and GT Rate Schedules Commercial or Industrial customer with more than 45 000 000 kWh usage through a meter or through more than one meter at a single location for the preceding calendar year with a written request for registration as a self assessing purchaser pursuant to section 5727 81 of the Revised Code Please Note If you elect to opt out the opt out will extend to all of your accounts regardless of the size or service voltage level associated with the activities performed on or next to your premises Requirements Please note that if you opt out of the companies Energy Efficiency and Peak Demand Reduction Programs you will be obligated to comply with certain notice and reporting requirements to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Full requirements can be found in Sections 8 11 of Senate Bill 310 If you qualify to
