    interest Clearly explain how the items requested for funding are vital to the project s successful completion Designed to improve advance and enrich student learning One time one year implementation and evaluation Flexible and appropriate for targeted stage of student development Range from formative ideas that explore learning concepts to full tested models that are ready to be adopted and disseminated Include additional support from other sources for larger projects Networking mentoring interdisciplinary or team teaching and teacher training professional development Includes study of electricity and electricity production Grants may be used to compensate experts who come to work with students but not to pay teachers or staff Resources requested should be integral components of a well planned classroom project lesson plan and important to its success What is not supported by this STEM Classroom grant This grant is for resources needed for individual classroom projects If more than one classroom is undertaking the same or a very similar project only one grant per school may be awarded The following are not supported by this grant Laboratory supplies or equipment for general school use Media equipment computers digital cameras projectors white boards DVD players etc and furniture display and book cases carts etc Admission fees and stipends for conferences workshops and competitions Transportation incentives meals and refreshments Previously funded projects Routine responsibilities of the educator submitting the proposal Projects that require multiple academic years for completion Grant awards Grant awards are recommended by the FirstEnergy Education Advisory Council Upon completion of the projects recipients will be asked to provide a written summary with samples of class work Photographs are suggested but not required How do I apply Applications for the 2015 2016 school year are now available Applications must be submitted by September 18 2015 for consideration during the 2015

    more than a decade he added Our core values of being the best at everything we do are clearly aligned and because of their commitment to the City of Cleveland and to all of Northeast Ohio we felt this would be the perfect partnership Plus it s a great name for the stadium FirstEnergy By joining two Ohio traditions this partnership and regional branding opportunity makes good business sense said FirstEnergy s then president and chief executive officer Tony Alexander FirstEnergy and its predecessor utilities have been serving the energy needs of customers throughout northern Ohio for more than a century while the Browns rich legacy in the same regional footprint dates back to 1946 Alexander said We look forward to being part of the new energy in FirstEnergy Stadium FirstEnergy has been a corporate partner of the Browns since 1999 The partnership has included many elements highlighted by its presence as a gate partner at the stadium from 2002 through 2006 and a scoreboard sponsor from 1999 through 2014 Terms of the naming rights agreement were not disclosed The Browns home field was known as Cleveland Browns Stadium from the time it was completed in 1999 through the 2012 season About FirstEnergy Stadium FirstEnergy Stadium adds excitement and beauty to Cleveland s revitalized downtown and through a two year modernization project before the 2014 and 2015 seasons the venue was transformed into one of the best fan experiences in sports The renovations helped improve the structure technology and aesthetics of FirstEnergy Stadium Among the many changes that electrified fans at the start of the 2014 season were two new video boards in each end zone that are nearly triple the size of the previous screens Other technical enhancements include LED video boards throughout the stadium and an entirely new audio system The renovations also created greater seating capacity in the lower bowl moving fans closer to the field with dramatically better views of the game This has created a more intimate environment while enhancing the team s home field advantage Before the 2015 season the Browns improved concession areas and provided fans with more unique offerings with a local twist Club seating and suites were upgraded while new and dramatic graphics honor Browns history and players FirstEnergy Stadium seats more than 68 000 FirstEnergy stadium is located on the shores of Lake Erie on the same footprint as Cleveland Municipal Stadium which was home to the Browns from 1946 through 1995 In addition to FirstEnergy Stadium Cleveland s North Coast Harbor area features some of downtown s most notable attractions including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum and the Great Lakes Science Center Stadium Signage Fast Facts Exterior stadium signage spans more than 186 feet The FirstEnergy logo is 18 3 high and 25 3 long while the FirstEnergy letters are 12 0 high and 78 1 long and the Stadium letters are 8 7 high and 74 7 long Aluminum for the lettering weighs 3 500

    Soap Box Derby at Akron s Derby Downs In 2012 more than 550 youngsters between the ages of 7 and 17 represented their home communities in the championship finals They earned the right to compete in the FirstEnergy All American Soap Box Derby by winning local Soap Box Derby races in their hometowns or by accumulating points in a series of rally competitions held around the United States In July champions and their families from the United States and countries including Canada Germany Japan and New Zealand arrive in Akron in for a week of race related activities The week begins with technical inspections weigh ins and trial runs on the famous 989 foot long track at Derby Downs Racers compete in separate divisions based on their age and construction skills Boys and girls ages 7 to 13 compete in the Stock Car division which features the simplest ready to assemble kits purchased from All American Derby headquarters Youngsters 10 through 17 will be in the Super Stock division whose cars are similar but larger to accommodate larger youngsters or the Masters division featuring the traditional more sophisticated cars The Ultimate Speed division is open to drivers between 16 and 24 who pilot innovative race cars at speeds not attainable with the traditionally designed cars Division champions compete in Akron for college scholarships The National Super Kids Classic a race in which special needs children compete in two person cars driven by veteran Soap Box Derby racers is also part of the festivities Additional information can be found at www aasbd org Also follow the Derby on Facebook and Twitter for updates photos and more The idea of the Soap Box Derby grew out of a photographic assignment of Dayton Ohio newsman Myron Scott He came across a group of
