of the greatest fighting games to ever hit arcades MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAAT Mortal Kombat II Publisher Midway Developer Digital Eclipse Price 4 99 I couldn t wipe the grin off my face when I heard that Mortal Kombat II was going to be on the PlayStation Network I was a huge MKII fan back in the day but wow have my skills gone to the crapper Either that or the computer has turned into more of a filthy cheater than I remember Anyways this is a capable port looking and sounding almost as good as the arcade did all those years ago which is a nice way of saying that it doesn t hold up very well compared to today s games MKII is the high point of the Mortal Kombat series to many fans and it s still plenty of fun to pull off all the finishers The core gameplay here works well The online play isn t as well handled as UMK3 on the Xbox 360 as you could have predicted when comparing the PlayStation Network support to Xbox Live but the D pad on the SIXAXIS is much better suited to fighting games than the awfully imprecise D

helpful e mails from readers and others who ve griped about Nintendo s not necessarily awesome Wi Fi While I haven t had time to fiddle with my router settings I did manage to get Ocarina downloaded the day after the first article ran It was awfully slow to get an hour compared to the few minutes it took Fearless Leader Bryn tendo to get Super Mario 64 but eventually I got it and it runs well So retroactively thumbs up for Ocarina For those of you experiencing issues we got a variety of responses Bob Mullins suggested buying the Wii LAN Adapter which solved his frustrations for 25 Bryan Roesner says I agree wholeheartedly with you about Wii s inability to hold a stable connection I must leave my Wii on my fireplace mantle to even get a partial connection with my router that is on the floor directly above it I do wish Nintendo would admit to a problem and offer a fix How about GameSpy running an article asking how many people are satisfied with the way their wireless works That d be ripe for Bryn to tackle in Mii and You wouldn t it However Thomas Masheder writes in with a solution I am writing to you is in regard to your Nintendo Wi Fi woes There is a common problem that occurs when your router is set on channel 6 that causes your Wii to suffer from severe at times interference Most older routers use channel 6 as the default and this could be causing the problems you described in your article brand new routers seem to have realised that channel 6 is prone to interference and have the default channel set to 11 It is a little known problem that the channel can affect

own press sheet It s also available as a Flash game but the difference between the Flash version of flOw and the console download are fairly dramatic unlike say Alien Hominid which started out as a Flash game online morphed into a budget PS2 and GameCube title and was recently reincarnated on Xbox Live flOw s use of the Sixaxis controller alone is a very dramatic departure from using a mouse The concept is simple players take on the role of a marine lifeform as it swims around and absorbs other tiny animals Gently motioning with the Sixaxis steers the creature through its multi tiered aquatic world Once many creatures are consumed the player s cellular lifeform will absorb more energy and strength growing new parts and becoming more deadly Eating a pink or blue marker moves them up or down a tier respectively In the deepest area lurks a bigger boss which you guessed it you have to try to eat Of the titles currently on the PlayStation Store from the mediocre Cash Guns Chaos to the entertaining GripShift flOw is undoubtedly the best It s well worth the small investment given the unique nature of the experience flOw gets an emphatic thumbs up Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection Publisher Namco Bandai Games Developer Namco Bandai Games Price 19 99 USD Let s get a few things out of the way here by no means is Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection a substitute for Virtua Fighter 5 even if you aren t a fan of VF That said it s the best version of Tekken 5 you can get While the PS2 version only supports 480p DR goes all the way up to a sparkling 1080p It s missing a few modes that Tekken fans are used to but its gameplay
