  • 50 Layers of Gray – GI Film Festival | Reel Stories! Real Heroes!
a Cadet at West Point you find yourself categorized by a number of forms and figures to which you are expected to conform From the outside everything looks uniform orderly and redundant You really have to peel back the layers of gray plastered on like paint to see the true colors beneath Honestly that s part of what I like about West Point Without the usual indicators of personality different clothing hairstyles make up etc you get to see people not for what they are wearing but for who they truly are In a way the gray brings out a lot of the other colors Myself I am a Floridian but my family is military My dad is a retired field artillery LTC who insisted I join the Air Force if I went into the military at all sorry dad We moved around a bit when I was younger but in third grade he retired and Florida became our official home I ve lived in Niceville Florida and yes it s nice there for 13 years I was never the most outgoing kid growing up I was the the one in the corner reading doing art and spending a lot of time over analyzing movie plots and the artistic aspects of the presentation of stories As for hobbies art is a big part of my life I ve always had a love of creating things I use any medium I can get my hands on and I like a challenge of making something out of materials you wouldn t expect Attempts at and photos of everything from costume design to cake decorating can be found around my house and room I ve had fair amount of success at most which I attribute mostly to my stubbornness I also love all
