    the ECOTECH 2009 the ECO CND ultrasonic project guided wave ultrasonic NDT NDT precursors New Environmental Technologies has been selected by the National Research Agency ANR The coordinator of the study which lasts 36 months is IXTREM with a partner the Laboratory for systems integration and technology LIST CEA the Institute of Electronics Microelectronics and Nanotechnology IEMN CNRS and HOLO3 and the Institute of Welding Ecological dimension Penetrant and magnetic testing techniques use significiant amounts of organic products and generate emissions and waste volumes Penetrant testing France 50 000 t year of organic products 100 000 t year of waste generated 100 000 m 3 year of effluents Magnetic testing France 50 000 t year of organic products 100 000 t year of waste generated 50 000 t year of magnetic particles Overall for the entire European Union the figures are almost tenfold It also appears that the penetrant and magnetic testing present significant risks whether electromagnetic chemical electrical health operators Working conditions can be difficult under ultraviolet light in the darkness noise vibration Added to high rates of control and significant weight equipment to handle Project Objectives The project aims to replace these techniques by a laser generation of

    the implementation of the Non destructive techniques reducing energy consumption waste production limit the amount of effluent testing evaluate new technological alternatives such as the vibrothermography resonance spectroscopy and techniques based on non contact generation of ultrasound and laser interferometry receipt or EMAT ElectroMagnetic Acoustic Transducer This project falls within the current context of the Grenelle Environment Forum of the future evolution of the European Directives electromagnetic risk prevention limitation of VOC in the production processes and associated control reduced waste and CO2 and energy consumption More specifically the objectives are To inform users about best practices implementation of more environmentally friendly products and equipment to reduce significantly by at least 20 the environmental impact of penetrant and magnetic testing techniques Educate manufacturers of magnetic particle and penetrant to develop greener products Demonstrate that new technologies such as vibrothermography resonance analysis medium and high frequency ultrasound and the use of guided waves that are already operational to replace in some particular case these two techniques with different levels of sensitivity but with at least equivalent control costs almost halved and without generating significant environmental pressure over degreasers penetrating revealing indicators magnetic power consumption over time is ridiculously low compared to

    Interest Group which marks the start of the platform I PHI4 4 physical innovation was signed between the following partners FANO Acoustic Federation Northwest Le Havre group of specialized laboratory in acoustics IXTREM Chalon sur Saône Company specializing in NDT techniques ultrasonic magnetic particle eddy current Convergences Innovations Company specializing in set up and management of innovative projects HOLO3 brings its expertise in optics Other partners have expressed interest or to participate in research projects CETIM Senlis or as a user and distributor of technologies to be developed CETIM CERMAT CETE Technical Centre for the equipment of the East The objective of this platform is to develop and promote non contact NDT techniques that combine additional physical phenomena eg ultrasound and thermography Four technical expertise are in the consertium ultrasound magnetic particle eddy current and optics The combination of the four partners can share a pool of resources the other to combine complementary expertise and finally to offer companies a full range of benefits of innovation R D study technical feasibility study industrialization and education The partners are already involved in two joint research projects ECO CND 2010 2012 Process Development US Guided Wave contactless GREEN TESTING 2011 2013 Reducing
