inhibitions and societal circuit breakers Just about everyone was infected including the famously logical half human half Vulcan science officer Mr Spock In a scene lasting nearly two minutes all we see is Spock struggling mightily to not cry It ends with Spock sobbing I can so relate Trying not to cry is a lot of work It calls for the kind of concentration that rules out all other thoughts the kind that leaves me with an intense headache Fight or flight reflexes are in high gear with my muscles tensing and my heart pounding The best result to be hoped for is time to get away to some private place I haven t always been that lucky I m not talking about those occasions funerals weddings long goodbyes on which it is not unmanly to let loose with some tears Nor am I talking about movies in which a dog dies You would have to have a heart of stone not to cry at the end of Old Yeller No I m talking about the times when I have been unable to maintain my composure in the workplace I imagine that about now you are squirming in your seat

two heads are better than one My anxiety spirals upwards when I isolate myself and focus only on my problems ES Naples FL Sometimes Tim Hortons is as good as meds It isn t just the kick in the coffee but a social event that I look forward to It s a reason to get up and get to Tim s in time for coffee If you are consistent you get to know the staff like a second family It encourages you to be bright because everyone else is CWH Penticton BC I am the mother of three children who suffered from anxiety and panic attacks When they were young every Sunday was a very difficult day As the hours passed I could see them getting more and more nervous They hardly slept that night I decided to give them something from home to take to school with them It seemed to help I also got very involved in school activities so I was at their school a lot for parties etc I got to know their teachers very well That made them feel better too BD Itasca IL This is a constant issue for me Every week I seem to overbook myself and then feel dread and anxiety as the new week approaches I try to pare down my calendar but life and work seem to prevent me My therapist suggests that I take something off my plate but I m at a loss at how to do that and fulfill my responsibilities I also seem to get more and more exhausted as the weeks go by which feeds the feeling of being overwhelmed Sometimes taking a bath or reading helps but the dread is always running in my brain along with whatever I m doing LE Northfield VT I have trouble with all evenings especially Sundays I have lots of coping techniques including medications I m also in therapy to learn how to think in the now and not worry about tomorrow or next week I also have started singing to myself whenever I feel the anxiety rising the words to My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music By the time I get through all three stanzas and the refrain I feel better and the negative thoughts have receded It sounds silly but for me it works LSR Toronto ON As far as Sunday night blues I have had disrupted sleeping most of my life and also racing thoughts I take my medication as prescribed Sometimes it helps me sleep and sometimes it doesn t The way I cope is by sleeping when I can and when I can t sleep I think to myself No one I know has died from lack of sleep GT South Roxana IL My life is so chaotic that I actually look forward to returning to work on Monday morning On Sunday I do the following 1 Make sure that all of my laundry is done 2 Look through my closet
