with their characters as well as with each other From the Odyssey s website THE ODDS the Odyssey s Student Outreach program and Los Angeles City College Theatre Department present Judas Iscariot for a two week run starting May 14th JUDAS asks tough questions And the answers aren t always pleasant Yet the play is never less than riveting thanks to the nearly two dozen dynamic characters among them a gum smacking saint radical apostle cigarette addicted angel and a fisher of men who misses being out on his boat JUDAS is a restlessly smart and fiecely articulate tragi comedy that combines philosophical musings and Christian tenets with legalese and urban slang in a heady fiercely written drama the hard edges of which don t entirely obscure its tender heart With a cast of 16 playing almost twice as many characters JUDAS is a wildly ambitious piece of work and the students alumni staff of LACC Theatre Department pull it off with a mighty passion and humanity This show is only running until the 24th so go out there this weekend if you have nothing planed You will have a great time no doubt I haven t been entertained this much in an LA Theater in a long time Tickets range between 10 30 depending what day you are going and if you are a Senior an LACC student a student or neither but if you get to the theater 2 hours prior to showtime you can get in at 10 flat Thur Sat 8pm Sun 2pm Ride the Rapid 704 to Sepulveda and take a nice walk heading south to the theater Or ride your bike and lock it up on their patio rail I do it all the time and they are cool with it Next time I

homeless guy on the west side who I always drove by in the days when I had a car Now that I m car free I enjoy Los Angeles like never before and I would love it if more people could have the same experience on the streets as me However most of the people I know won t walk or ride a bike Because it s too dangerous Because when one crosses the street one might get whiplash from constantly looking behind ones back to not get hit by the fast moving cars Because our streets are getting faster and faster without regard of the neighborhood needs Because our intersections are getting wider and street lights and crosswalks are being taken out to move cars faster out of our neighborhoods This is the reason that I decided to join Stephen to support the Safe Streets Bill this coming Monday Stephen and I will go to Sacramento to testify in support of Assistant Majority Leader Paul Krekorian s AB766 Safe Streets bill which will give local communities more control over the establishment of speed limits in their neighborhoods Please join us in person or in spirit and write a letter of support so we can take it with us to Sacramento Email the letter to SafeStreets BikeWritersCollective com Tell your personal story of why you would support this bill that would give local communities more say about speed limits on their streets Here is Stephen s letter http thirdeyecreative net safestreets soapboxlanews may409 html You can sign up to get updates on our journey on making LA more accessible to everybody through the link You can also see some sample letters and find some inspiration on BikingInLA Ron Kay L A Homegrown Evolution and Brays Against the Machine I m

  • Cyclists “Storm the Bastille” on May Day /  illuminateLA
without any response from our city leadership I m asking you why did I lose my rights when I got on my bike Where are our Councilmembers to protect cyclists in their Council District Where are the Councilmembers when we ask to be protected not only from dangerous drivers but also from uneducated and abusive police officers I m asking you to make this city green by protecting the vulnerable by endorsing the Cyclists Bill of Rights by demanding from the LAPD to be sensitive and educated about cyclists rights on the road and I m asking for the full support of our judicial system and I expect that those who endanger injure or kill cyclists be dealt with to the full extent of the law Our voices have been heard and the City Council wrote a Motion directing the LAPD to investigate and address police officer training It was a good day for cyclists and I was proud to be surrounded by such eloquent and passionate group of people who spoke up about their rights on our streets Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook Share on Google Share on Linkedin share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post Print for later Bookmark in Browser Tell a friend Posted 01 May 2009 by Enci in Everything Bike Metro Storm the Bastille Van Nuys City Hall A Rebel Without a Car Green Screen 4 Comments Add Yours Cypress 05 01 2009 17 01 1 Great Speach Enci Maybe they ll finally do something about this I propose a follow the rules ride to shutdown traffic in DTLA if nothing is done We can legally single file extremely carefully create havoc in downtown traffic if need be one to show awareness
