rotate stretch and scale the historic non georeferenced map to align with the Bing Maps aerials After setting about 20 control points in MapCruncher I exported a tile cache of the historic map and ran this utility to place the tiles in a quad tree file structure Once I had the historic map crunched and tiled I downloaded the KnockoutJS sample on the MapsJS example page and was able to quickly wire up the bindings for an HTML5 range slider control to adjust the opacity of the historic map and my zoom icons for navigation One trick I had to do was rotate the map control 180 degrees The historic map was drawn looking North to South so it appeared upside down on top of Bing Maps which will give you a headache to read To fix that I added some additional css to rotate the map control which rotated the historic map to a readable perspective but now displays the Bing Maps tiles upside down Feel free to snag the HTML JS and CSS files if you want to design your own old school map http apps mapdotnet com Tally1926 app htm Continue reading Hits 1930 0 Kimley Horn Associates Selects Touchgeo for Sidewalk ADA Compliance Data Collection Project Posted by Benton Belcher on Wednesday 17 July 2013 in Uncategorized When we receive customer comments like this about our technology we have to share them We ve been sending out teams into the field these past weeks using the touchgeo web app we ve been working on for the past 6 months and so far it s been going very well The folks in the field love using the new interface over the old clunky Trimble devices so that s been rewarding for sure That s awesome When the MapDotNet team first developed the touchgeo HTML5 mobile data collection product our vision was a paradigm shift from the traditional Trimble pack ArcPad combo at a small fraction of the price to a mobile HTML5 platform using mapsjs Seeing that vision becoming a reality with customers is huge for us Kimley Horn Associates KHA has a very talented group of developers that have been doing so really cool projects with MapDotNet over the past few years After getting this feedback we asked them to share some information on their latest sidewalk mapping project Here s what they had to say Kimley Horn Associates was contracted by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation ODOT to do a study of state roadway sidewalk s compliance with federal ADA Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines This project involved collecting a large amount of geolocated data throughout the state of Oklahoma that needed to be stored processed and analyzed in order to determine the level of compliance and the cost to bring sidewalks in to compliance The KHA software team was brought in to help with this task and due to the team s prior experience working with ISC s MapDotNet products it was decided that
