  • Attempting to use aerials as a base layer in MDN - MapDotNet
any other formats they have available We re not sure if the only base layer imagery that can be used in MDN has to be in tile repository form is this the case Thanks Chris Tweet Accepted Answer By Russell de Grove Friday April 26 2013 01 50 PM permalink 0 Yes you will need to use a tile repository You might look at global mapper http www globalmapper com product formats raster htm for building a tile cache The reply is currently minimized Show Responses 3 Likes Highest Vote Latest Oldest Accepted Answer Registered By Chris Early Wednesday May 01 2013 02 25 AM permalink 0 Thanks Russell we are trying to use Global Mapper now One follow up question is there a way to tell MDN that the custom tile repository uses jpg images and not png We have this section of code in addition to the requestorOffline function that sets up the custom tile layer but I couldn t find a call that would set the image type to jpg Offline layer base var tlOffline new isc rim tile layer offlineLayer false 3 base tile layer s requestor var wr new window requestorOffline tlOffline setRequestor wr push the basemap offline aerial tile layer onto the map containerMap rimMap pushTileLayer tlOffline I see that the mdnDescriptor object has a setImageType function like so mdnDescriptor setImageType png8 But I couldn t figure out if I could apply this to our custom tile layer Chris The reply is currently minimized Show Accepted Answer By Russell de Grove Wednesday May 01 2013 03 25 PM permalink 0 Review http apps mapdotnet com HTML5 iSDK isc rim isdk customTiles htm it creates a simple custom requestor like you need and you ll see that it builds the URL path window requestorDem function

  • Map Tile Caching not working correctly with touchGeo web application - MapDotNet
good while for just five tiles to show up I just tried zooming and panning around a bit and eventually a few more tiles were displayed but it s taking several minutes for new tiles to show up Is something not working correctly with the tile caching here or is having 83 770 cached tiles really too much for a browser based solution Or another though is the tablet we are using too slow to handle this It has an Intel Atom Z2760 processor dual core 1 8 GHz with 2 GB of RAM which isn t great but doesn t seem too bad We really don t know much about caching but we have read through the MDN article on it http www mapdotnet com help70 Content Studio New Studio ManagingTileRepositories html Thanks in advance for the help Chris Tweet Accepted Answer Registered By Chris Early Monday March 04 2013 04 06 PM permalink 0 Interesting it looks like the rest of our posts are missing I replied to this post and you replied to that post but neither of them are showing here I also noticed that two of my latest new threads that I posted last week are missing must be because of the website overhaul I don t have a copy of my posts but here are the two missing posts by Russell You have two different tile layers in your XAML MapDotNet and Bing and the cache is for MapDotNet data only Bing content is not cached If Bing layers are on it will always try to retrieve them You can turn off the Bing layer to get a better idea of cache performance To which I responded how do you turn off a layer in code Russell s response isc rim tile layer setIsVisible
