need of a kidney Amelia s perfect match was the best option In fact according to the doctors the only way Amelia s kidney could be a better match would be if the sisters were identical twins Amelia agreed to do the procedure and was grateful for the opportunity to help her sister Amelia had one challenge left to face before the surgery could happen Amelia would be away from work for almost three weeks but only had a week and a half of personal time off PTO available Amelia works as a clinic coordinator for Mountain Land Rehabilitation in Boise Idaho She mentioned her situation to her supervisor who immediately made a company wide PTO donation request The response was incredible Dozens of coworkers showed their support by offering their valuable personal time off to Amelia Amelia and Jeanna met in Salt Lake City for the operation Jeanna s body quickly accepted the kidney and both women are recovering well While she was on dialysis Jeanna graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Salt Lake City Now that she s on the road to full recovery she is excited to begin her new career hopefully at a high end restaurant in Park City Utah Amelia is once again hard at work back in the office She plans to run the Race to Robie Creek in April a half marathon in her hometown of Boise Jeanna will meet her at the finish line While it may take a year before either sister is fully recovered both are in high spirits They are planning to take a trip together this summer to celebrate the long life ahead of them and the stronger bond they now share Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email

  • Are You Mountain Land Strong? - Mountain Land Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation
teach me a valuable lesson One afternoon he called me into his office to give me a new project that was on a tight deadline Without thinking I responded that I didn t have time to get it done on time He quietly stared at me for good minute before asking me How many hours in the day does Mother Theresa have How about the president The fact is you have the time it just isn t your priority While not conveyed in accordance with our concept of Team Vitality it was a valuable lesson This memory came streaming back to me as I was lying there trying to motivate myself to get up and run What was my priority Getting an extra hour of sleep or staying fit and healthy I pictured my default future if I didn t get up and go running I didn t like what I saw This lesson is also important in working with our clients Our bodies only get stronger by pushing it outside of its comfort zone If you stick to comfortable you either stay the same or get weaker Our job is to make positive change in our client s lives We need to motivate them to see our therapies as uncomfortable and tough as they may be as a vital step towards getting closer to their priority of rehabilitating to their normal lives I do my best to motivate this change by dragging myself out of my comfortable bed before dawn and going on that run Mark Hyder July 5 2012 8 21 am Great example Gabe Heather B Walker July 5 2012 10 52 am As an exercise physiologist physical therapist assistant and competitive athlete I am a firm believer of Practice what you preach It is a much harder sell or buy in to preach to my patients that exercise is beneficial if I am one who does not particpate in exercise I believe that to sell exercise I need to be one who actively participates to demonstrate the great overall benefits a person receives I recently joined in the CrossFit craze and have been actively committed to the Ute CrossFit the great overall benefits of crossfit is it takes every person to a new level with new challenges and new levels of achievement When I thought I had achieved a new level of doing 15 pull ups unassisted in a row I was then handed the new challenge of doing handstand push ups yes I thought 15 pull ups unassisted was impressive enough but Crossfit then determined that I needed to take that new leap I take that same philosophy into my career and when working with patients Change is good and is necessary for survival and to see those extra improvements I too am like Gabe and set my alarm clock for 5AM for early morning runs or biking as I recently read a great little article from Women s Health Magazine Be a Nicer Boss
