    text size Print page content new window Export PDF new window Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google Share on Pinterest Listen the text Fair Retour à toute l actualité 01 February 2016 16 May 2016 Settling in Prehistoric moments in the Jabron Artuby and Verdon area 1st February 16th May The new temporary exhibition in 2016 The Près de Laure site Comps sur Artuby 83 was discovered by researchers from CEPAM CNRS French National Scientific Research Centre during an archaeological prospection campaign around Castellane and in the Haut Var This was the first Paleolithic open air site to have been discovered in the region In partnership with the CEPAM laboratory CNRS Sophia Antipolis University Le site de Comps sur Artuby un gisement de plein air de plus de 20 000 ans Les habitats préhistoriques en grottes et abris occupent notre imaginaire Mais les sites de plein air dont la découverte est plus hasardeuse peuvent eux aussi représenter des pièges archéologiques exceptionnels Imaginez les vestiges d un campement de bord de rivière abandonné et rapidement recouvert de sédiments à la faveur d une crue Cet enfouissement va sceller l organisation des objets abandonnés sur plusieurs centaines de m² mais va également favoriser la préservation des restes organiques qu il s agisse des charbons d un foyer ou des restes de l animal consommé Un site mise au jour en 2013 par les scientifiques En 2013 dans le cadre d une prospection archéologique sur les occupations de moyenne montagne en Provence est découvert le site préhistorique Les Prés de Laure Comps sur Artuby Var localisé sur les berges du Jabron Rapidement les fouilles archéologiques révèlent l existence d un l ieu régulièrement occupé par des groupes humains il y a environ 20 000 ans Une telle découverte saura
