  • DIY Spotlight: Rob Bondurant - Music Connection Magazine
became his main source of income After playing nearly every venue in and around San Diego Bondurant packed his bags and moved to greener pastures Nashville TN where he began a new chapter in his life He recorded his debut album Hurricane at the world famous Blackbird Studios and released it last year That process allowed him to break out of the acoustic singer songwriter genre and enter a band phase Hurricane has an Americana vibe but also blends blues folk and soul into one original sound Indeed it s obvious that Bondurant doesn t like to confine his vision to only one genre Proof of that is his most recent single Crazy People which combines electronica and rock into a brew that s been compared to Prince and Muse Curiously the song began as a memo in his phone that grew as he began to craft his music in a new way via smart phone That led Bondurant to experiment with the way he made music seeking an authentic sound for which no set genre can be defined Using that approach Bondurant s music not only moves people it also makes them stop and listen For more go to BondurantMusic com Tags Hurricane Rob Bondurant Previous Story Cash Money Records Giveaway Turkeys Next Story EastWest Composer Cloud 1 Year Subscription Freebie 0 Shares Bernard Baur Related articles Live Review Matt Turk at Genghis Cohen Live Reviews Magazine Reviews May 1 2015 Nielsen Music Sales Skyrocket After Super Bowl Halftime Performances More Industry News January 30 2013 Katey Sagal Announces New Album Release More Industry News September 25 2013 Our Sponsors Newsletter Signup Sign Up Friday Freebie Weekly Bulletin New Issue Partner Offers Founded in 1977 on the principle of bridging the gap between the street and the elite Music

  • Out Take: Composer Timothy Williams - Music Connection Magazine
initiated his interest in a film music career After training at the national film school in England he worked for the BBC before moving to Los Angeles where he first worked as an orchestrator before moving on to score films such as Wild Horses and The Butterfly Circus As an established composer Williams gets more than his share of redundant demos We try and rip off John Williams or someone we admire but unfortunately you have so many now interested in film scoring as a career he says I think it s one of those things where if people take the time to really explore what they have I find that far more interesting to listen to It doesn t matter how good someone is at ripping off a well known composer find your own voice The advice is easier said than done but Williams pulled his own voice out of one of his most recent projects Diablo in which he dismantled the standard sound for the western psychological thriller But getting an opportunity won t help you if you don t have the skills Learn as much as you can Williams says The pace and speed of scoring is so intense that you really need to have all the basics down It s not just a question of getting the opportunity Most recent Diablo Web timothywilliams net Tags Diablo Timothy Williams Previous Story Duffing For Dollars Raise 31 000 for Unite Next Story Album Review Hristo Vitchev Quartet In 0 Shares Jessica Pace Related articles 21 000 Submissions Kick Off Grammy Season Latest More Industry News October 20 2015 House Concerts to Fight Hunger Kick off June 28 Heart Soul More Industry News June 20 2013 Deftones to Release Live Selections on 12 More Industry News March 22 2013

they eventually found their way into influential hands including Wilmshurst Don t think anyone else is going to help you out Pemberton says regarding his early years of trying to get his foot in the door Try not to sound like someone else Don t think anyone else is going to sort out your problems If you ve got one piece of equipment you learn to use that so much better than a lot Use your weakness as your strength I could program my one piece of gear better than anyone Now I have tons and don t know what I m doing half the time To date Pemberton has scored approximately 400 television shows he says in addition to the recently released British American action comedy spy film The Man From U N C L E and the biographical drama Steve Jobs directed by Danny Boyle and starring Michael Fassbender For the latter dialogue was an important part of the film which gave the composer an interesting musical palette to work with I wanted Steve Jobs to reflect different things the optimism of 80s synth the drama of an opera and then the strained emotion of a minimal modern electronica piece For challenging gigs such as these Pemberton s advice is to be flexible but also very sure of yourself he says It s always worth looking from the director s point of view Web DanielPemberton com Most recent Steve Jobs Tags Daniel Pemberton Steve Jobs Previous Story Album Review John Cale M FANS 9 10 Next Story Bonnaroo Announces 15th Anniversary Lineup 0 Shares Jessica Pace Related articles Music Industry Advice You Signed a Deal You Shouldn t Have Now What Content Slide Feature Articles Latest Magazine Music Industry Tips April 25 2016 Live Review The Swansons at

  • Out Take: Jeremy Tisser - Music Connection Magazine
led to credits on projects including Jurassic World Disney s Oscar nominated short animation Get a Horse and Disney s Pixar in Concert That fortuitous meeting spurred from Tisser s involvement with his school s Studio Ensemble program When it comes to his young age Tisser says it can be a roadblock as well as blessing in the composing world Elmer Bernstein wrote the score to the The Ten Commandments at 28 Igor Stravinsky wrote The Firebird at 23 and The Rite of Spring at 27 Tisser says It doesn t necessarily have to do with age but when you re telling a story or relate it to a mass audience the more life experience you have the more you can tell a story Older people have survived more of life and when they get a film that s dramatic or adventurous they have more of life to pull from That said the aforementioned composers lived in different times Today is a free for all Tisser says It seems now you can be 25 and score 27 feature films if you have that kind of mad work ethic and those can be enough to get you a movie Regardless of the time persistence is still the key he says Tisser is now working on a score for a virtual reality game for the company Survios but can divulge little about the project at this time Most recent Actor for Hire Web JeremyNathanTisser com Tags actor for hire composer jeremy tisser out take Previous Story Album Review Squeeze From the Cradle Next Story Vans and Berklee Award Scholarship to Singer Songwriter 0 Shares Jessica Pace Related articles Out Take With Composer Nate Barr Hemlock Grove True Blood Film TV News January 3 2014 Film Composer Mark Orton Film TV News Magazine
