  • 2014 - Lamborghini Urraco voted No.1 Wheeler Dealer restoration | Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show
    storage for six years in Poland despite not being able to start the car due to a loose cam belt and or move it because of seized brakes for 21 380 which makes it the most expensive car purchased by Wheeler Dealers It was sold for 35 000 after a full restoration and taking part in a 50th anniversary parade in Italy Mike said It s fantastic that the nation has chosen such a great Top Ten All of our favourites are in the list but the truth is we have loved every one of the 100 cars over the past eleven years The Urracco was a special show as it s one of the most desirable cars ever and a real treat to get a Bull in the China shop It culminated with a brilliant test drive through the Dolomites on Edd s birthday It was a real special treat For fun the Mustang was a blast from buying in boiling California to the final test drive where Edd got to play in the dressing up box and pretended he was a cop for a cops and robbers chase scene very Hollywood We hope you enjoyed the last 100 there s a 100 more coming Second place was taken by the 2003 Morgan 4 from series nine brought for 13 000 and sold for 21 000 with third place going to the series ten 1972 Ford Escort Mk1 which Edd transformed from a bronze 4 500 project to a bright yellow stunner selling for 11 800 The Top Ten also featured the Peugeot 205 GTi from series two the Bentley Mulsanne Turbo from series five the Dodge Charger from series eight and the Ford Mustang Fastback from series nine Wheeler Dealers Mike and Edd currently filming a new series

    These vehicles are being meticulously built by specialist engineers highlighting the capability and expert engineering skill set of the new Jaguar Heritage Workshop These coveted next generation Special GT E Type cars were originally built in 1963 with new aluminium bodies to improve performance but only 12 of the projected 18 were ever made The six brand new Lightweight E Types will carry the original series chassis numbers of the missing vehicles In celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the D type Jaguar Heritage is delighted to present the magnificently well presented Shortnose D Type chassis no 561 kindly loaned to JLR by Adam Lindermann which became the Ecurie Ecosse team s third last and latest Shortnose D Type delivered brand new from the Coventry factory in March 1956 and registered MWS 303 This vehicle will also be complimented by the new Heritage range of branded goods Following the successful launch of Jaguar s Heritage 57 Collection at the Paris Motor Show 2014 a range of branded goods celebrating 60 years of the iconic Jaguar D Type will be available to customers attending this year s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor show The collection itself has been designed by Jaguar s Design team to commemorate its most successful period at Le Mans using the winning No 3 Ecurie Ecosse team car from 1957 race win as inspiration Distinguished by the winning blue flag and drawing on signature cues from the winning No 3 car key pieces from the collection include a classic leather jacket and apparel a leather racing holdall luggage and small leather goods which carry iconic actual photography from the 1957 Le Mans race Smaller gift items such as key rings cufflinks and a children s racing bear is also available Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations recently announced the launch

  • 2014 - Sporting Bears offer £1million Dream Rides | Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show

    Incredibly rare Bentley headlines NEC Sale An incredibly rare and special 1954 Bentley R Type Continental Fastback one of just three right hand drive automatic examples produced is set to headline Silverstone Auctions final sale of the year at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show on the 15th and 16th of November The late D Series car estimated at between 800 000 and 900 000 is presented in impeccable close to concours condition having benefitted from major works over the last few years Chassis number BC9D was ordered on the 31st March 1954 by Mr Alan G Clark Clearly a discerning customer Mr Clark specified the car with an automatic gearbox and a number of special features including electric window lifts flat petrol tank Smiths ventilation and heating system and two RD 8187 Foglamps in place of the standard centre lamp Being the late D Series it also benefits from having the larger 4 9 litre engine Like many of these Bentley models the chassis was produced at the Rolls Royce factory in Crewe while some 170 miles to the south the lightweight aluminium coachwork was being handcrafted by H J Mulliner Co The current owner has maintained the car to the highest standard regardless of cost The car is offered for sale with an extensive history file for major works undertaken to it during the last few years This includes a full respray in Shell Grey complimented by a mid blue hide interior and dark blue Wilton carpets Commenting on the impressive car managing director of Silverstone Auctions Nick Whale said This car is a beautifully styled masterpiece offering gracious classic motoring with just a hint of modern convenience It is beautifully presented and testament to the pampered existence it has lived The Bentley joins an eclectic offering at

    Stage There will also be opportunities for fans to get autographs and to bring their own books and memorabilia for signing as Sir Stirling will hold three signing sessions throughout the day on stand 20 395 in Hall 20 Winning a staggering 212 races including 16 Grand Prix wins Sir Stirling is arguably the greatest all round racing driver of all time driving for many high profile manufacturers Known during his career as Mr Motor Racing he became a professional driver in 1948 at the age of 18 racing a Cooper 500 After early drives for Jaguar and HWM he was signed by Mercedes Benz the famed Silver Arrows in 1955 to partner the legendary World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio who beat him in British Grand Prix Sir Stirling won the epic 1 000 mile Mille Miglia road race in the Mercedes Benz 300 SLR at an astonishing average speed of 97 96mph on public roads the Targa Florio road race again in the 300 SLR and the Tourist Trophy at Dundrod Stirling raced 107 different types of car across all classes of motor sport during his remarkable career Between 1954 his first year with what Stirling considered a proper Formula 1 car the Maserati 250F and 1962 he took part in 318 races of all types finished in 225 of them and bear in mind cars were not reliable in those days and won 134 He drove a Ferrari on 14 occasions winning 12 of the races entered and taking 10 fastest laps He drove for Rob Walker from 1958 to 1962 taking part in 93 races finishing 70 of them with 46 first places and also drove a Maserati in 72 races finishing in 50 with 25 first places and 31 lap records Where you can see Sir

    makes show debut Allard Sports Cars will make its debut at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show the first time that Allard as a car manufacturing company has exhibited at a major international car show since 1957 Our exhibit represents our first tentative step in our plan to revive Allard as a small specialist car manufacturer after a gap of some 57 years explains Lloyd Allard Design and Engineering Director On the stand we will have our prototype Palm Beach Mk 3 rolling chassis The Mk 3 is a car that Sydney Allard considered and could have built in 1959 had the market conditions at that time been right for such a car The last Palm Beach Mk 2 manufactured by the Allard Motor Company in 1958 exported to the USA in 1959 and now is owned by Mr John Hartson in USA carried chassis number 72 7107XK the Mk 3 1959 model has chassis number 72 7108XK Lloyd adds Our first chassis has a similar Jaguar XK140 3 4litre 6 cylinder engine Moss gearbox with overdrive and Salsbury rear axle but at the front the Palm Beach Mk 2 chassis has modifications for twin wishbone front suspension with coil over shock absorbers and anti roll bar The steering has been updated with a rack and pinion design replacing the Marles box The chassis has been strengthened to increase torsional stiffness and with additional hoops to provide rigidity to support the aluminium body and in addition at the rear to protect the fuel tank The overall body design will be similar to the Palm Beach Mk 2 but there will be a new curved windscreen and a front end body nose section which lifts up at the rear similar to the Allard JR This chassis is right hand drive but

  • 2014 - Show theme brings classics from 'The Big Screen' to life | Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show
    as its clubs theme for 2014 As well as iconic TV and movie star cars including those scene stealers from the TV motoring shows the organisers are encouraging the clubs to go much broader than that with famous posters billboards and adverts of cars launched in huge billboard or big screen campaigns So clubs could perhaps recreate a famous film poster with a club stand or maybe give over the entire stand to a TV show or advert that featured its chosen car there s huge scope for clubs to really get creative The theme is open to interpretation perhaps displaying a car that boasts a big screen price or even just car with an extra large windscreen Whatever it may be all ideas are welcome Event Director Dan Nwaokolo said We re really excited by the theme for this year s show There are so many great instances where motoring has appeared on the big screen be it TV film and in adverts The possibilities are endless and we can t wait to see how the clubs interpret this year s theme There s also an influx of classic motoring TV shows at present with more to come so it will be great for enthusiasts to get to see those cars restored on the small screen at close proximity if only to reassure them of the quality of the work carried out The chance to inspect these cars and talk to the stars of the shows will be fantastic for our visitors Show sponsor Lancaster Insurance is similarly enthused by this year s theme adding We are proud to be the headline sponsor of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show for the second year running and this year celebrate 30 years of providing classic car insurance The Big Screen

  • 2014 - Vintage Adventurer Rod Wade sets new Aussie World record | Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show
    Ford Model A across Australia and back again in 101 hours 52 minutes and 32 seconds Rod and his co driver fellow Aussie Austen Ritchie set off from the Surfers Paradise sign on the Gold Coast on Tuesday 3rd June at 10am in a 1930 Ford Model A Armed with a bottle of water from the South Pacific Ocean and a bucket of Gold Coast sand they travelled 4 500km through Queensland New South Wales Southern Australia and across the Nullarbor Plains into Western Australia They arrived at Bathers Beach Fremantle on Thursday 5th June slightly later than planned after two breakdowns on the Nullarbor in the middle of the night Emergency repairs were made by the roadside as trucks and road trains motored past On arrival at Fremantle Rod and Austen emptied the water into the Indian Ocean and tipped the bucket of sand onto the beach before refilling the vessels with the same from the Coral Coast Then they got straight back on the road arriving back at Surfers Paradise on Saturday 7th June at around 4 20pm making the total distance around 9 000 kilometres The return journey was not without it s dramas either as the support vehicle was disabled when it was hit by a kangaroo The Model A was also hit but was not damaged in the altercation Rod said This has been the most amazing challenge with the best crew pulling together to get us across the finish line The support out on the road from service station staff border patrols local police and motorists has been fantastic It may be too early to say next time but plans are already afoot This is not motoring enthusiast Rod s first driving challenge as he set a world record in November last year for
