  • In conversation with… racing/rally driver Katarina Kyvalova | Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show
is it about classic cars that got you interested It s their beauty and rarity For me to drive a classic car is something very special a synergy between the driver and the car this wonderful feeling which doesn t emerge these days in of current modern cars I was always tempted to drive them and wanted the big challenge of racing them too one day What s your earliest car memory A car created by my brother made out of cardboard in which I ve been driven fast in our flat all day long as a small child I loved it That must have caused my passion for four wheels and speed This year s theme at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show is She s a Beauty How would you interpret the theme when it comes to classic cars First of all I love the fact that in English language a car is a SHE Beautiful From the very beginning there was a big crossover between women and cars It starts with Berta Benz who is believed to have pioneer project called car Helle Nice who impressed in the Bugattis Maria Teresa de Fillipis with her debut as first women at the GP The list is long and it s story to be continued What s your favourite classic That s very difficult to say I personally love pre war cars as they are something very special The Bentley Belles story started with my Bentley in which I have done many miles so I d say the Bentley 4 5L is my favorite one What element of classic motoring do you enjoy the most The fun and enjoyment which you can t replace with anything else How did you get started in racing and rallying I drive and always drove my classic cars for daily use as much as possible My motto is the journey is the goal Later I joined some rallies as a navigator and soon decided to try it on my own After 15 years and many rallies I couldn t resist anymore and bought my first race car at the auction as racing was always one of my big dreams It was time for new motoring chapter in my life How did the Bentley Belles come about I had this crazy idea to put the first all female team together for the 24hrs challenge in a 1928 Bentley I d been looking for another three girls who were ready for this epic adventure With help of my friends I found them and we met for the first time ever just one day before the race An ambitious venture with a happy end We looked for a suitable team name and so the Bentley Belles was born You race and rally in amazing cars in a very male dominated sport How do the gentlemen react to you on the rallies or in a race Are they full of advice help or do they under estimate
