in a garlic and chile sauce I could not stop eating this dish A tamarind and ginger sauce that was the accompaniment of a large whole crispy skinned striped bass popped in our mouths We pulled chunks of the succulent fish off the spine and swiped it through the sauce a winning fresh tasting dish The one disappointment was from the sushi side of the menu The Super Volcano was visually interesting with the sushi rolls topped with crunchy deep fried kani imitation crabmeat and fish roe and a spicy sauce However the tuna was mushy and not spicy Next time we will try something else Dessert is listed on the menu but was not offered Open daily for lunch and dinner Shunju 16 Beechwood Rd Summit 908 608 1088 BYO Recommended Reading Episode 2 Chef Leia Gaccione from canned beans to South Pine s Swear Jar Striped bass Photo courtesy of Lowell Saferstein Please send press releases and restaurant news including information on staff changes wine tastings and cooking classes to rosie njmonthly com Get dining articles like this delivered straight to your inbox Read more Eat Drink Table Hopping with Rosie articles By submitting comments you grant permission for all or part of those comments to appear in the print edition of New Jersey Monthly Dining Podcast If you love dining out have a passion for great food or want to hear about the latest food trends our new podcast Eating With Eric should be on your plate Listen to episodes Subscribe in iTunes 7 Songs to Comfort Christie on His Failed Presidential Bid Podcast Why We re Called The Garden State Table Hopping Jersey Shore Restaurant Week Melange in Somerville A Dress For Every Occasion NJ Father and Son s Wines Win Big 7 Dining Trends to
