    ourselves The Loafers created this three minute comedy mocumentary for the Glastonbury Film Challenge 2014 We shot it over a weekend edited it in a day and we won Best Film Best Script and the People s Choice The script is by Rachel Whitelock who also directed I was DoP and provided all the camera lights and audio gear We shot it in Wells and Bristol on my Canon C300 Posted in Film Making Tags comedy film short film New Year New Film Director of Photography on Oliver Rocket 2 Jan 14 by obenson Me during rehearsal camera test at Beckford s Tower Only two more days until we begin filming on feature Oliver Rocket in Bath We only have twelve days to shoot the entire film so it s going to be a packed schedule but we ve already put a lot of work into tests rehearsals and planning over the last few months to ensure we have everything covered You can follow our progress here www facebook com OliverRocketmovie where our behind the scenes crew will be providing updates 17 Jan 2014 update Well that s a wrap We shot a feature film in 12 days Got rained on a few times but overall we got pretty lucky given that it s January Look out for it later this year Posted in Film Making Tags Bath Bristol C300 Director of Photography drama feature film Daisy Chapman The Hangman s Waltz 21 Nov 13 by obenson Daisy Chapman is a Bristol based singer songwriter who I have had the pleasure of working with a few times now including filming her album launch at the Bristol Folk House about a year ago Daisy wanted someone to make a short silent film to accompany an instrumental track on that album called The Hangman s Waltz and I jumped at it I love the dark melancholy nature of her songs and I easily came up with lots of ideas for a short film especially in collaboration with a friend of mine who designs costumes Lauren Ayres It took a while to get the right group of people together to make this but a few weeks ago we started filming at the wonderful Same Same But Different café restaurant in Bath I had been going there for lunch for some time liked it s style and position on Bartlett Street and the manager was happy for me to film there Naturally I treated my actors and crew to lunch there once we d finished filming We had to do a second days filming there because of bad weather and illness but that worked to our advantage giving a more definite change in look light to complement the shifting mood in the story Last Saturday we finished with a couple hours filming at a small wood in Wiltshire shooting right up until the light had gone at 4 30pm the last shot in the film was captured at f 1 2 and 6400 ISO
