  • Pike Peak - Chyangba Village Medical Trek 2014 - Daily Dispatches
Last night she subliminally hinted her craving for chocolate cake and chocolate pancakes appeared the next morning There are two more episodes that confirm my hypothesis After breakfast Grace commented to the owner that his horse was beautiful Instantly he gave her a personal tour of the house and even took her toyed secret room entirely dedicate to the Dali Lama Secondly during the fast group both Phula and Karma pledged that they would vote for Grace via SNS Need I say more why option c is the way to go As for the slow group Kelly endured yet another day of girl talk Highlights of the conversation were Yvonne s playing hard to keep an inside joke of taking out the trash and Sharon missing DOGGGGGG I m actually quite curious when Kelly s tolerance will just stop after days of hiking with us Node if he is catching on our play that we want to ensure a helicopter does come to Chyangba unless he really wants to subject himself to an extra seven days Maybe his life will be further enlightened A common experience for both grow as seeing the animals followed us At feat we were joking that the baby cows would be the highlight of this post as opposed to Peeky Peak Well I guess Mother Nature demanded this course of action because the weather prevented us from climbing today However she compensated by sending several cows naks and cow nak or cow yak Chomba tought the slow group that the yaks have the bigger horns Regardless all of the animals were adorable and hopefully with Karma s help we can find a Yetti The slow group took another break and we made fun of how the chief s face just fell We all have this theory that he stays with is until night before we get there and then he just disappears Upon hearing this the chief decided to stay with us and we chatted about our ages Yvonne correctly guessed that the chief is 30 and we later found out that Chomba is 38 I think that the one grey hair on my head became evermore notice when the chief told us that I looked older than Yvonne ho is three years older than me I could feel the aging process The slow group as happily greeted by Dylan and Stephanie Dylan impressively smashed s mosquito with one hand and the excitedly points to baby tree supported by poop Maybe it is good fertilizer Afterwards we had pomegranate juice and ramen soup During this time we here checking our O2 saturation Initially we were most impressed with Audrey who had O2 stat of 98 I loved how Adam asked Audrey Should I ask for your autograph now or wait until we get back to Kathmandu I think the correct answer is to wait until Kathmandu because Laura had an O2 99 Right before lunch Max look a panorama with his fancy camera and it

  • Trek to Ngaur i- Chyangba Village Medical Trek 2014 - Daily Dispatches
the trek sorry Mom The trek before lunch was pretty unbelievable We spent first two hours climbing completely uphill and I can t even explain how beautiful these views were We were literally in the clouds Sometimes it feel like we were hiking right through the jungle and all of a sudden we would reach a clearing and see rolling mountains so green and lush that you d think it couldn t possibly be real We passed pastures yaks running rivers and yes lots of leeches too Probably the most exciting part of the trek was when Dylan got chance to try it out as a porter and carry a full load of gear on his head all the way to lunch That was definitely a sight By the time we reached lunch however we could hear thunder rolling in the distance and we knew our day of clear skies may be ending To make up for it though we got pomegranate seeds at lunch which really makes me believe the guides are listening to everything we say because I definitely said was craving fresh fruit this morning After lunch we finally got a taste of what this whole monsoon season is about Turns out it is no joke We hiked two hours more uphill in absolute down pouring rain Thankfully those of us with waterproof boots had dry feet to combat the storm Regardless none of this seemed to matter when we reached our campsite because we ate staying at the most magical monastery in the clouds We spent the little time we had before dinner enjoying some hot chocolate in this adorable attic of the house of this elderly couple Dinner surprised us all with yet another delicious way to prepare potatoes and even pasta with milk nak

parade of dozens of horses Our chief Ang phula told us about his family and his numerous siblings who are outnumbered only by his friends As he is the most important person in all of Nepal he naturally has three telephones on him at all times one of which is suspected to be a direct link to God the other one not our chief He laughed at our belief that we were eating yak cheese this whole trip as yaks can t make cheese only naks different terms for different genders The accumulation of dirt and various other substances on our skin provides a nice natural sunblock of SPF 202 so we no longer need to apply unnatural non chemical free sunscreen This natural sunblock also doubles as a natural perfume and it has made us very attractive to bees However such attraction is not yet reciprocated making for a love story of which even Shakespeare would be jealous For the first time this trip we are camping at the top of a mountain instead of in a valley or halfway down a mountain so the weather s nice here cool and rainy Upon arrival at today s campsite we

we had with us Ang Phula and his always helpful commentary During our seventh rest stop he described us as being sooo faaaast How much longer until we get to the lunch spot Just 25 more minutes An hour and twenty minutes later led by the valiant Jennifer who practically started sprinting when she saw the place we breathlessly stumbled into the lunch lounge to a round of applause But between the frequent breathers and boy talk the slow group had quite a blast I attempted to convince Kelly that teal not Carolina blue was his real favorite color We are making progress as he can now distinguish green from blue green And after remaining maturely silent but definitely eavesdropping during our boy talk Kelly concluded That explains a lot of things in my life The slow group tried hard to retain our dignity as we were passed by thirty high schoolers from Pennsylvania followed by an elderly couple from New Zealand Jennifer could not help but compare our team to the high schoolers They re all staying together in a group We are not I am proud to report that we eventually reached camp before dark were led by

  • Drive to Jiri - Chyangba Village Medical Trek 2014 - Daily Dispatches
lined with houses corn fields and rice patties We passed all kinds of roaming animals including cows chickens dogs and goats We drove through small villages and saw the most adorable children walking in their school uniforms There was this layer of fog that covered the area that added a magical aspect to the whole area It was surreal The drive was super long and a few of us tried to sleep but were frequently awoken by a sudden jerk of the van resulting in head bangs against the window so I don t think any of us were super successful in this attempt but at least the scenery was worth it After about 8 hours we finally reached our resting point for the night in a village called Jiri It s basically the village at the end of the paved road and the farthest we can drive The weather improved and some sun peaked through the clouds We were taken to our campsite put our stuff in our tents and met for tea in the dining tent which was a nice big blue tent with tables and chairs for us to gather and eat in We then headed to the main street area of the village where a few of us bought some rain boots to take with us The village is so beautiful sitting in the middle of the Himalayas surrounded by amazingly green mountains Grace and I Audrey went off and explored a bit and got to meet some of the adorable children They were obsessed with having their pictures taken and kept asking for more It was the cutest thing Two of the little boys then took us to see this hanging bridge above a river and to the local Temple that was surrounded by hanging

before passing out In the morning most of us got to enjoy exploring around the hotel before and after eating a full breakfast buffet time to fill our cheeks with as much food as possible The food was yummy and later that morning we had a meeting where we got to meet those we would be working with during this experience We packed up some of the stuff we would need for the trek and then headed with bright smiles to enjoy the city life and some good food Despite our bright smiles I guess Mother Nature was a bit sad and decided to let it pour down on us after lunch We were able to go to a few shops and pick up some trekking gears that some left behind at home but the rain wouldn t give up so we headed back to the hotel And now right now we just finished up a nice Asian food so much food in one day and I m ready to pass out because so many time changes in the last two days The body can only take so much But wait for tomorrow when we have to take a six
