  • MBC to ABC down to Deurali (12500ft- 13500ft- 10500ft) - Annapurna Base Camp and Tent Peak Eexpedition - Daily Dispatches
had about half hours climb left Finally we reached the most awaited moment the board which declared that we were at ABC 4130 mtrs The view 360 degrees was only mountains To our left was a small part of Hiunchuli followed by Annapurna South Varaha peak then the tallest Annapurna I main stood at 8091mtrs Singu chuli Tent peak Annapurna 3 7555 mtrs Gandharva chuli and last Macchapuchare which completed the circle This is one or probably the only place where one can get a 360 degree view of so many beautifull Himalayan peaks We took lot of pics there and then went up to one of the 3 lodges and had a sumptuous breakfast of bread omlettes and hot chocolate Then we decided to look around The lodges were surrounded by about 6 ft snow we made our way thru a path which led us toward the glacier And again we got a stunning view of the landscape We were actually overlooking the glacier below us 500 ft below this is a guess a mixture of ocre yellow moraine and ice and huge in size the entire landscape was stunning and awesome After about 15 20 minutes we decided

  • Rest day in Dovan - Annapurna Base Camp and Tent Peak Eexpedition - Daily Dispatches
small bridge Then started the ascent which was about 50 to 60 degrees some patches were slightly slippery due to the recent snowfall At many places we crossed mountain side streams again a mixture of snow and mud As we completed 2 hrs of the trek the ascent became slightly steeper some trekkers going down cheered us up by telling us that we were almost there which was about 40 mins of climbing left As we came closer to our camp our hearts started beating faster not only becoz of the exertion but also becoz we were approaching our second last point on our trek We were now breathing harder as the altitude was steadily increasing As we reached the final steps to our lodge our hearts stopped beating for the view to our left was something we had never seen in our entire life There stood in all his golden magnificence Annapurna South Next was Varaha shikhar After that the view was blocked but behind us Macchapuchre and his companions kept us company throughout the trek The entire view was breath stopping and moving as though the Almighty had given special attention in creating these mammoth at the same time very beautifull structures The lodge name MBC lodge was also very good The rooms were small on a shared basis ¾ bedded but clean with shared toilets and a paid hot bath facility and with a big dining hall and a long dining table These lodges are a very comfortable facility and a luxury for those who have done trekking only in India where u have to tent it out Now coming back to MBC it was so beautifull that some of us had lunch outside enjoying the sunny weather and the magnificent view In the afternoon the weather

  • Tadapani to Chhomrong - Annapurna Base Camp and Tent Peak Eexpedition - Daily Dispatches
moss Birds were singing and calling their mates Through the trees we caught occasional glimpses of Annapurna South and Macchapuchare The air was crisp and cool after yesterday s rain After a short break we hit the trail again and we were back to the stone steps that have been characteristic of this trek so far Most of today s route runs east to west and unless you are passing through a forest you are exposed to the sun In about an hour we were down to about 6000 feet At one point high above I saw what to me looked like big crows circling lazily in cruise control under the warm sun Vishwanath our ornithologist enlightened us that these were in fact Himalayan Griffon Vultures After a steady descent we reached the Kimrung Khola a river we had to cross to get on to the next range of hills We walked like drunks as the iron bridge over the river swayed under 20 pairs of trekking shoes After the crossing we were climbing once again over stone steps for the most part A cool breeze coming up from the valley blunted the heat of the sun as we now made our way up the next range of hills that would take us to Chhomrong Hours 3 4 and 5 were a hard grind Nothing exciting by way of views Exposed to the sun most of the time Steep climbs and descents Hard on the knees and lungs The only highlights were a juggling act we saw by a German trekker waiting for his lunch at a tea house and a herd of at least 500 baa ing sheep we passed on a steep climb At the end of the climb we came to Hill Top Restaurant and our guides
