  • Trek to Pheriche- Giripremi's Lhotse - Everest Expedition 2013- Support Trek
manage to capture one of the best photos of the EBC trek This was the moment I will cherish for a lifetime The Everest Lhotse Amadabalam Taboche were all lit up with a golden glow and the clouds sailing below them 8 00AM We started our journey to Pheriche with the visit to the holy monastery The group clicked a lot of pictures with The Everest and headed for the 8hr long journey 11 00AM Till now the walk was very pleasant trees with beautiful flowers on both sides of the road and a lot of greenery But after some time the greenery started to diminish The green line which separated the forest land and the barren terrain of the mountains was clearly visible There was a hint of oxygen drop which could be felt by many 12 30PM We haulted at Somare for lunch and the team members looked in a healthy condition The interesting thing about the owner of the hotel was that she had participated in the Everest marathon 2 00PM The walk was getting exhaustive with Satish and me suffering from a mild headache The short bushes started appearing and the big trees had almost disappeared

  • 16th May 2013 – Lobuche to Gorakhshep – Nagakarsang Peak – Everest View Hotel and Khumjung Village - Giripremi's Lhotse - Everest Expedition 2013- Support Trek
be attempted today and we were all excited to know about the outcome For the last two days there was no mobile range and as such we were unable to contact the Everest Base Camp About an hour into the walk and we entered Khumbu Glacier The route now was full of loose rock and moraine and we had to be very cautious It was also not simple to walk on this terrain Also the route was full of ups and downs and we were all tired especially due to yesterday s adventure In the meanwhile we received the news that Ashish Mane of Giripremi had successfully scaled Lhotse Peak The team for Everest however had not made the attempt due to bad weather Wind of about 100 Km per hour reported up there Reached Gorakhshep 5165 meters at 11 15 am The view of the glacier and Ice fall from here is simply fabulous The rest of the day we spent relaxing and planning for tomorrow The team will be split into two tomorrow One group will attempt the Kala Patthar Peak early morning tomorrow and then proceed to Everest Base Camp The other group will go directly to

a good pace and reached Thugla Village 4620 meters at 10 30 am In the 3 hours we had easily walked 7 25 Km and gained 340 meters without realising it We decided that we would not have lunch here and would go all the way to Lobuche So we settled for soup and some snacks that we were carrying from Pune We left Thugla at 11 15 am The next 11 25 hours till 12 30 pm was very gruelling Strong wind was blowing on our backs and the climb was very steep Thugla top 4895 meters saw us climb another 275 meters over hardly 2 5 Km At this place are monuments of several climbers who lost their life while climbing Mount Everest We spent some time looking around and having much needed rest and then started for the last lap at 12 45 pm After this till Lobuche was a very steady walk with a bit of ups and downs However we were very tired when we reached Lobuche at around 2 pm Some of us had massive headache Some had a nausea feeling We had in fact climbed about 650 meters since morning At this altitude

  • 14th May 2013 Rest Day – Nagakarsang Peak – Everest View Hotel and Khumjung Village - Giripremi's Lhotse - Everest Expedition 2013- Support Trek
again with beautiful view of Tabuche and Cholatse Peaks to our left and Thamserku Kangtega Ama Dablam Makalu Island and Lohtse peaks to our right River Imja Dingboche is situated on its banks also looked lovely from here About an hour into the climb and we realised how difficult it was going to be The top of the peak still appeared to be the same distance as when we started and the height we had gained so far was also not too much Dingboche village appeared not too far off to our right It was a bit windy as well The only thing that kept us going was the absolutely fascinating view Prashant and Nimish were carrying the GPS equipments that allowed us to track our altitude At about 9 45 we had managed to gain barely 290 meters and two of us took a decision that they would not continue any further One of our guides accompanied them back Further 45 minutes into the climb and more than half of our team had returned At around 11 am 3 5 hours after we had left the hotel the wind picked up considerably and a few clouds appeared at the top We took a conscious decision that we should all return back to the hotel At this point we were at a height of about 4835 meters and needed another 1 1 5 hours over 200 meters to make it to the top Over the next hour we descended all of the 555 meters we had managed to climb since morning For those who have not trekked in the Himalayas here is a brief perspective Sinhagad in Pune is about 550 meters from its base to the top and it takes about an hour to climb it and about 50
