yesterday friday During the night Birgitta had to be treated with oxygen due to a severe case of altitude sickness The morning after she was ok and could walk by her selfe down to Lobuche She quickly got better when we lost altitude Thanks to the organization of Peak Promotion she was never in any danger During the night I also fell ill with a cold not altitude related A bad cough running nose and general weakness made the trekk down to Lobuche a nightmare Waking up this morning feeling even worse made it obviouse that there would be no summit attempt on Lobuche peak for me I was probably infected by my son who had the same symptoms some days oga I trekked down to Pheriche together with Birgitta Jakob and Magnus Yes unfortunately also Magnus After his first case of altitude sickness and having recovered on lower altitude he moved up the mountain again to try climbing Lobuche peak Unfortunately he again fell sick of the altitude and again had to move down He now feel much better having lost nearly 700 altitude meters Jakob looks strong as an oxe and was almost convinced to get pon the

the food is excellent The owner who is a good friend of Peak Promotions owner Wongchu is very friendly and helpful The trek to Gorak Shep is not too long and not too hard However some members of the team where a little bit tired so when we finally reached Gorak Shep after nearly two hours two members decided to stay behind when the rest of us continued to the summit of Kalapathar Normal time to the summit of Kalapathar is 2 3 hours Martin and myself made the summit in just one hour and fifteen minutes Malin and Henrik came only 20 minutes behind This is promising for the upcoming summit attempt on Lobuche peak The summit of Kalapathar is a very special place From the top of the mountain you have the most breathtaking view of Mt Everest and the surrounding mountains Three years ago I and a team of friends also placed a statue of an Angel on the summit as part of a worldwide peace project It was a dear and moving moment to see her again We spent one hour on the summit and then headed down To our surprise we met both Jakob and

there Todays trek was hard for everybody The trek in itself is not so hard but the now very high altitude is starting to hit us really hard We were all very tired when we reached our lodge in Lobche after four hours trekking Despite the tiredness we made a short acclimatization trip to a ridge above Lobuche From there we had a splendid view over the surrounding mountains and

Malin Martin and myself made the rather hard climb to Nagartsang peak 5 30m The climb is important for acclimatization purposes and is also a good test of fitness and how well acclimatized you are we made the peak in just two hours without pushing it too hard This is great news and indicates that the form is superb and our bodies respond well to the increasing altitude So far that is You must be humble at these altitudes The altitude can strike you anytime Birgitta and Jakob had a rest day today They went up some 100 meters above Dingboche and just enjoyed the sunshine After that they did a little shopping in Dingboche After having felt tired yesterday they now seem fully recovered and energetic Unfortunately Magnus has been struck by a touch of altitude sickness He is feeling week and has stomach problems He went up some 50 60 meters today but still feels ill We will have to see if he has recovered by tomorrow otherwise ha may have to stay or go down Today s dinner will be a special one It s Birgittas birthday Our excellent main guide Ang Dawa had arranged a birthday

side A truly amazing sight The trek took the group around five hours We kept a nice and slow tempo but still it was a rather hard day We had to gain 500 altitude meters and at 4 000m and above this is not an easy task Some members of the team had a rather hard day on the trail However all made it safe and sound to Dingboche and

Six of us that is Yesterday evening Henrik got altitude sickness related symptoms Even though feeling better today we took the decision that he would remain in Namche for one extra day resting and then continue tomorrow if feeling strong enough Hopefully he will catch up with us in Dingboche on Sunday MKS Group where we will have our next acclimatization stop The rest of the group is feeling fine and seem to be in good shape However altitude sickness can strike very suddenly and you always have to be observant on the symptoms Our experienced guides and the logistics of Peak Promotion makes me feel very safe if anything should happen The trek to Thengboche is very nice and easy before lunch It s mostly downhill and the view is marvelous Unfortunately it was rather cloudy so we missed out on the breath taking views of Everest Lhotse Nupste and AmaDablam Hopefully we will see them tomorrow Rododendrone way to Tenboche Just as we entered our lodge in Thengboche it started raining real heavily Good timing We just waited for our bags changed cloths and then went to the monastery where we participated in the daily prayer chanting session

stamina starts The way up to Namche is steep and long You have to gain some 600 meters in a short distance The climb normally takes 1 5 3 hours and is somewhat of a test The group was spread out since some wants to go a little faster some slower But finally all 13 made to the Khumbu lodge where we were served the and could rest for a while When we some time later were showed to our rooms we were met by a big surprise I have stayed at the Khumbu lodge several times before and I love the place It s got a very friendly an welcoming atmosphere and the family running the lodge is extremely nice The rooms however have had a somewhat basic standard Now it turned out new since I was here last time room had been built and they were just great The new rooms are large and comfortable and even with own shower and toilet What luxury This is the kind of treatment you get when using Peak Promotion for your adventure in Nepal Thank you for booking these rooms for us The evening was ended with a great dinner were
