  • Trek to Leder - Barry and his Friends Annapurna Circuit Trek 2015- Daily Dispatches
so cute More cloud in the sky today but still had a warm sun on our backs until noon but we all had an extra layer on than in the past putting on more as the wind and cloud picked up toward noon The scenery changed to open slopes with lot of fall colours as we ascended above the tree line but at 4000m we did see one lone clump of birch trees sans leaves We were happy to leave the motorcycles behind but they have been replaced by pack horses or those with riders going at quite a speed making sure we stay on the uphill side as they pass We stopped at Yak Kharka for tea and the decision was made to head on to Ledar at 4200 m with the possibility of going to High Camp the next day making our over the pass day shorter We arrived at Ledar 1 30 and a hot lunch watching as the clouds seemed to be getting lower and wind picking up even more After settling into our cabins a couple went for excursions while the rest snuggled in their sleeping bags An hour before dark it began to snow

that was a great change from the road Many steps waterfalls scenic viewpoints and the sound of the river roaring below always present We saw wild bees with their huge honeycomb hanging down from the rock faces monkeys frolicking eagles soaring large izzards scurrying horses charging and sheep and goats grazing Lunch was enjoyed in the town of Tal just after a steep climb and onto a widening in the river where a large flood plain reminded us of the upper North Saskatchewan River Along the way Mark enjoyed having a sling shot shooting contest with some children and he made many friends as he handed out candies he had purchased the night before While stopped at one rest point a lady spread out several buckets of millet to dry in the sun which a chicken immediately began to make her lunch Around 4 00 PM we arrived wearily in the town of Dharapani where we had to check in at the tourist checkpoint then after some deliberation about the Three Sisters guest house where we had planned to stay we descended some steep steps to Heaven run by one of the former Three Sisters which is truly a paradise
