Published by Cara Hannesson 7 years 8 months ago in News PSP Neverland Card Battles is a port of a PS2 title that was originally released only in Japan under the name Cardinal Arc The Neverland Card War This game will be joining the ranks of games such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness both card based strategy games that were released last year for the PSP This particular strategy RPG follows the story of Galahad a young Dominator who wields Neverland s Spectral Cards as he seeks to banish the evil Hellgaia from his world thus ending the war between humans and demons There are over 200 unique summoning cards included in the game so you should be able to build yourself quite the deck while completing your quest The original Japanese version of Neverland Card Battles was extremely well received and caught our attention as the best trading card game out there said Ken Koyama Manager of Product Development at YUKE S Company of America We have enhanced and optimized NCB for the portable experience and will offer one of the finest card strategy games ever created for the PSP this fall Both the sounds and graphics have been updated for the PSP release of the game along with additional cut scenes A major element that has been thrown in is the availability of ad hoc multiplayer modes which will allow two players to go head to head in real time Neverland Card Battles is scheduled to be released later this year in October You can check out the full press release after the jump Re blogged from our sister site Nukoda com Continue reading Neverland Card Battles Announced for PSP via Kotaku Parasite Eve Makes a Come back on the PSP 1 Comment Published by Cara Hannesson 7 years 8 months ago in News PSP I m going to start by admitting that I m not normally a huge fan of role playing games myself I can watch someone else play them for hours but have just never been able to get invested personally That all changed with the release eight years ago of Parasite Eve for the PSX I spent hours guiding Aya Brea through NYC battling past all sorts of mitochondrial beasties I always meant to go back and replay the game using the walk through but never managed to find the time Then came the announcement that Square Enix is developing a third installment in the series for the PSP which they are calling The 3rd Birthday This game was originally announced as a mobile phone exclusive title I m glad that SE changed their mind I know that Dustin Barton made mention of this in his post about Square Enix s DKS3713 but I feel strongly enough about this game to comment separately about it At the DKS3713 Private Party all that was shown of the game was a fairly short trailer which didn t show off any game play details or much of the upcoming plot This is what IGN had to say about the trailer While it was rather short it started out by focusing on events that occurred from the previous two games This included many of the visually striking cutscenes in a montage that highlighted many of the monsters that Aya destroyed This quickly moved into a scene where Aya walked down the aisle of an empty church in a wedding dress However it didn t appear that the wedding would fully take place as a figure appeared in the doorway of the church Suddenly the glass and pews of the church crumbled and fell to the floor as did the decorative flower arrangements inside As Aya turned and raised a pistol a wedding ring fell to the floor With the floor slowly being covered in blood the trailer ended and the logo flashed up on screen That s about all the information that has been released so far other than it s expected release date for sometime in 2009 in Japan I m hoping very badly that this game makes it to the North American market since it s one that I will definitely be getting my hands on I will keep you posted as more information becomes available Re blogged from our sister site Nukoda com via Joystiq Share Your DS with the Kids Closed • you ve been in a car in the last few years and are somewhat familiar with a GPS system Find and Go acts as the PSP ap s most basic GPS function you choose a city and state before entering a location and getting step by step directions Once you get the data in you can just explore the map if you like and see what all is around The default view is a top down Mapquest POV while the secondary look anchors the lower part of the map at the bottom of the screen and tilts the view at an angle Explore Map lets you jump around at will and My Data has you set up to 32 favorite places search by hotels airports and more view saved routes and track logs Well that sounds like a little bit of all right Apparently the unit will even give different directions depending on whether you tell it you re traveling by car bike or on foot All that Sony has indicated is that it should be released sometime in the next nine months I ve never been a fan of GPS units having never seen the need for one But

  • is almost non existent â perfect for those who just want to get their killinâ on â focusing exclusively on Kratos trying to you guessed it rid himself of his torturing memories in this prequel to the console predecessors Because this has no reference to the original games anyone whoâ s been avoiding the franchise until now will be completely at a loss as to whatâ s going on and the limited insight COO offers to fans is practically worthless with a mere taste of satisfaction in the final moments of the game Until that point youâ ll be mashing away on the square and triangle button â with little deviation from square â to deal with the identical mass of undead baddies It makes for boring action when youâ re smacking the same action button repeatedly until everyone falls down and when you consider the complete absence of enemy AI outside the monstrous enemies itâ s even less of a satisfying experience The complexity offered is in the magic adding a press of the R button in sync with an attack as Kratos brings on the fury of flames in punching and throwing form and holding L while attacking to make the angry fella spin in circles making him an almost invincible death dealer in an already too easy game Adding a Gauntlet as a secondary weapon is for the most part useless Intuitively tied to the Down d pad key Zeusâ Gauntlet costs you limited attack range in exchange for an unnoticeable increase in attack damage and loss of speed Youâ re best off if you stick to the Blades of Chaos since the aforementioned square tapping will get the job done in no time If you want the job done even quicker combat can be completely eliminated by the Circle grab move The insta kill shaves off seconds of time and mounds off effort Without having to weaken soldiers down youâ ll avoid the need to execute enemies which consists of tapping buttons at the correct time that rarely correlate to anything thatâ s happening on screen save for the inaccurate analog nub rotation for decapitation Itâ s annoying to have beaten the snot out of a mini boss such as a Cyclops â of which there are too many eliminating bigger bosses and in turn crazy awesome memorable moments â or bigger than usual minotaur The Mini Taurs sic A quick press of Circle drives it home instantly Sound familiar Thatâ s because new enemies are nearly non existent I donâ t know if they skipped town at the beginning when Attica is being burned by a gigantic Basilisk in the opening scene one of the best fights in the series but if youâ re looking for anything resembling even a pallet swap youâ ll be disappointed to see the same sword wielding helmet donned zombies eating your sword over and over Still despite the lack of â œholy crap that was awesomeâ moments God of

  • commute home When you finally need a break from the intense action in Carnage mode you can take on the game s huge career mode You start out with just enough cash to buy a clunker of a car but by placing well in races events derbies and mini games you earn cash that can be spent to soup up your ride or to buy a bigger and badder machine This adds a level of depth to this title that will no doubt add hours upon hours of replayability Even more so when you are a completionist like I am and simply must unlock and buy every car and upgrade in the game Making an appearance Head On is of course the mini games The mini games are probably the most recognizable parts of the FlatOut series as it s quite hard to forget the joy of launching your first hapless driver hundreds of feet through the air into a large net Thankfully these mini games are every bit as fun on the go as they were on the games bigger cousins Your driver still flies out of the car flopping away with the ragdoll physics and the landings are as bone cruncingly satisfying as ever Human bowling FTW You can t have a racing title without multiplayer and Head On will include all the multiplayer options that you would expect Unfortunately since this was a preview build I was not able to mess around with any of these I ll be sure to cover all of the multi player modes in my review once the retail game hits I have to say that I am very impressed with how Six By Nine was able to squeeze all of the fun of the big console versions into my PSP The
