at some point you just lose track of what you should try to listen to In conclusion I d like to say that Black Country Communion is a great live band with a joy for performing which is very apparent throughout the show They make me think of another great super group Chickenfoot who have a new album coming out in September My thanks to Black Country Communion for coming to Sweden and thanks for a great meet and greet Setlist Start 19 41 01 Black Country 02 One Last Soul 03 Crossfire 04 The Battle for Hadrian s Wall 05 Song of Yesterday 06 I Can See Your Spirit 07 Save Me 08 Cold 09 The Ballad of John Henry Joe Bonamassa song 10 The Outsider 11 Keyboard Organ Solo by Derek Sherinian 12 The Great Divide 13 Sista Jane w The Who s Won t Get Fooled Again outro Encore 14 Man In the Middle 15 Burn Deep Purple cover End 21 25 Pictures Videos Written by Daniel 1 Comment John Mayall Debaser Medis Stockholm Sweden 2011 07 04 2011 07 05 Posted in Concert Reviews Jump to Setlist Pictures Videos The dimly lit club is packed there s that hint of tobacco smell that exists even though smoking in bars has been banned in Sweden for years On stage the four musicians are working their way through a long jam There s guitar solos bass solos drum solos and the singer is wailing away on a harmonica The audience is eating it all up singing along and yelling their praise between songs If you were to close your eyes you d have no way of knowing that the guy playing the harmonica is 77 going on 78 years old and that with my 33 years I m probably one of the youngest people in attendance This was my first time seeing John Mayall I ve always wanted to go see one of his shows but just like with Eric Clapton there s just never been time Mayall started the show solo by playing harmonica and singing Another Man off of the classic Beano album Then the rest of the band bassist Greg Rzab drummer Jay Davenport and Rocky Athas on guitar joined Mayall on stage The first song they played was All Your Love Now I know all blues purists out there will hate me for saying this but to me that was the song I had wanted to hear the most Rocky really did justice to Clapton s guitar parts pretty much playing the solo note for note of the album version John Mayall himself did not play guitar at all during the show A real shame if you ask me However he did play a mean piano and that harmonica man need I say more It s quite amazing how after all these years Mayall seem to have lost none of his vocal range He did however have a binder full of lyrics lying on

Pearls Now if they would only make their way over to Sweden so I d get a chance to see them live Judging by this live performance they seem to be a great live band Check out their website Band of Skulls Written by Daniel 1 Comment The Foot is Coming Down 2009 05 03 Posted in Music Musings Been a while since I wrote a new post so I thought I d do a quick one while waiting to board my flight to NYC I really just wanted to mention new supergroup Chickenfoot It s Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony from Van Halen Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Joe Satriani When I first heard about this project last year my initial reaction was not exactly joyous This was mainly because I have never been a fan of Satriani and his whole Coldplay debacle doesn t exactly improve his rating in my book HOWEVER after hearing 3 songs on their website I am psyched This sounds like classic Van Hagar It s like Sammy woke up from his creative slumber They say on their website that they will be playing songs from all band members respective groups during their upcoming tour I could totally hear Sammy belting out Californication and Give it Away I m actually going to see Chickenfoot on July 10th at Rockweekend here in Sweden So head on over to chickenfoot us and check out first single Oh Yeah Written by Daniel 1 Comment U2 360 Baby 2009 03 11 Posted in Music Musings After trying and failing to get tickets to the past two U2 tours I have finally gotten tickets to U2 s upcoming U2 360 Tour in Gothenburg Sweden I decided to join U2 s fanclub at U2 com a while

from Man in the Mirror and Don t Stop Til You Get Enough This tour U2 are bringing back The Unforgettable Fire a song they haven t played since January 1990 From the clips I ve heard it sounds really good and the stage is really spectacular during this song The giant screen actually splits in to smaller screens that are lowered towards the stage in a funnel like shape Click here to see for yourself In a very ZooTV esque moment Bono called the International Space Station and one of the astronauts actually joined the One campaign from Space For the encore Bono wears a jacket with hundreds of laser s on it which creates a very cool effect When they play Ultra Violet Bono sings through a steering wheel looking microphone that s suspended from above the stage He also hangs on to this and uses it as a sort of swing As I said most of the show went off without a hitch except for One in which they had to redo both the first and second verse Surprising that it would happen with an old song like One which they ve played hundreds of times It seems it would be more likely to happen with one of the new songs that they are still getting familiar with Guess it s all opening night jitters Here s last night s setlist 01 Breathe 02 No Line On The Horizon 03 Get On Your Boots 04 Magnificent 05 Beautiful Day 06 I Still Haven t Found What I m Looking For Movin On Up 07 Angel Of Harlem Man In The Mirror Don t Stop Til You Get Enough 08 In A Little While 09 Unknown Caller 10 The Unforgettable Fire 11 City Of Blinding Lights 12 Vertigo

have been completely sold out after the show a true testament to Clapton s immense popularity Now I just wish that the Clapton Steve Winwood show would make it to Stockholm it would be the perfect complement to this great night Opening the concert was Norwegian rock trio Bigbang a band that s been around since 1992 and have released eight studio albums so far These guys led by singer and guitarist Øystein Greni put on a great show To the Mountains and Where the World Comes to an End really rocked and the band got the crowd going with Girl in Oslo and Wild Bird Setlist Start 20 30 01 Key To The Highway 02 Going Down Slow 03 Hoochie Coochie Man 04 Old Love 05 Tearing Us Apart 06 Driftin Blues 07 Nobody Knows You When You re Down And Out 08 Same Old Blues 09 Layla 10 Badge 11 Wonderful Tonight 12 Before You Accuse Me 13 Little Queen of Spades 14 Cocaine Encore 15 Crossroads End 22 17 Pictures Videos Written by Daniel 4 Comments Foo Fighters Nalen Stockholm Sweden 2011 03 04 2011 03 05 Posted in Concert Reviews Jump to Setlist Pictures Videos Last night I was lucky enough to see Foo Fighters in an intimate club setting at Nalen in Stockholm We were first in line waiting outside in the cold for three and a half hours Needless to say we got front row center While waiting in line two guys pulled up to deliver a Mellotron to the venue As it turned out later one of the quys happend to be Rami Jaffee Foo Fighters touring keyboardist and member of The Wallflowers If I had only realized that sooner I would ve asked to take a picture with him I used to listen to The Wallflowers all the time in the late nineties After maybe half an hour Taylor Hawkins came out to do his own sound check I ve never seen that happen before When everyone started chanting for Taylor he made everyone chant for his drum tech instead Danny After another ten minutes or so Chris Shiflett came out for his sound check They obviously weren t trusting their crew to take care of it Jack Daniel s was sponsoring the event and the whole place had the sweet smell of JD Too bad there was no waitress service for the front row When the concert finally started Dave Grohl said hello to the crowd and went straight in to Bridge Burning proceeding to play every song from upcoming album Wasting Light in chronological order What a treat it was Of the new songs I really like White Limo and Bridge Burning but my two absolute favorites are Arlandria and I Should Have Known For the latter Pat Smear played an awesome double guitar bass combo Dave played his blue Gibson Trini Lopez guitar for almost the entire concert I was amazed that he didn t have to re tune

13 minute version of Old Love especially the intro solo Being a recreational guitarist I kept finding myself geeking out stuff like what position Eric s pickup switch was in for various songs I was surprised to see him using the middle position you don t see that too often My favorite songs of the night apart from what I ve already mentioned were Badge and the fantastic final two songs of the night Cocaine and Crossroads Cocaine is such a great live song and it s fun to jam on But I really wish he would ve played Sunshine of Your Love as well and that Layla would have been the original electric version instead of acoustic Tim Carmon s organ solo at the end of Little Queen of Spades was really cool ending on the highest note possible which he sustained while stepping away from the organ Chris Stainton had quite a few nice piano solos as well But I must say that I really missed a second guitar player like Doyle Bramhall II that used to play with Clapton In my opinion when you have both an organ player and a piano player you need to balance that with two guitar players that can trade licks with each other I think it makes for a better rock sound It is clear that Eric Clapton can do no wrong as became evident by the enormous and well deserved cheers after the guitar solos in Cocaine and Crossroads I think this is the first concert I ve been to where the t shirts have been completely sold out after the show a true testament to Clapton s immense popularity Now I just wish that the Clapton Steve Winwood show would make it to Stockholm it would be the perfect complement to this great night Opening the concert was Norwegian rock trio Bigbang a band that s been around since 1992 and have released eight studio albums so far These guys led by singer and guitarist Øystein Greni put on a great show To the Mountains and Where the World Comes to an End really rocked and the band got the crowd going with Girl in Oslo and Wild Bird Setlist Start 20 30 01 Key To The Highway 02 Going Down Slow 03 Hoochie Coochie Man 04 Old Love 05 Tearing Us Apart 06 Driftin Blues 07 Nobody Knows You When You re Down And Out 08 Same Old Blues 09 Layla 10 Badge 11 Wonderful Tonight 12 Before You Accuse Me 13 Little Queen of Spades 14 Cocaine Encore 15 Crossroads End 22 17 Pictures Videos Written by Daniel 4 Comments New Music From Def Leppard 2011 04 17 Posted in Music News Def Leppard s new single Undefeated surfaced earlier this week on April 12th to be correct The song is one of three new studio tracks off of the British rockers upcoming live CD DVD combo Mirrorball The first thing that strikes me upon hearing the
