Web site This has the added benefit of providing a backup in case one of the processors is offline Third Party Payment Processors Even if you can get a merchant account you may not want one for a startup because of the fixed costs The alternative is to contract with a third party to sell your products using their merchant account Companies providing this service are usually called third party processors but most prefer the term reseller It s against card association rules to accept credit cards on behalf of another business since it allows the other business to avoid background and credit checks However there are no rules against being a reseller You are the provider of goods and services while the company with the merchant account is the actual seller The reseller arrangement must be clearly indicated on the order form to meet legal requirements and prepare customers to see the reseller s name on their credit card statement If a customer doesn t recognize a charge and calls her bank to dispute it termed a chargeback the merchant s credit rating will be adversely affected At minimum third party processors provide a shopping cart or product selection form a secure order page access to a payment gateway more on this later and use of a merchant account Transaction rates generally vary from 6 20 compared to 2 3 for a standard internet merchant account The cheapest and most flexible of these services are archrivals 2CheckOut and PaySystems Both charge a 49 setup fee 2CheckOut s transaction fees are 5 5 of the purchase plus 0 45 5 of purchases is held for 90 days on a rolling basis to use against chargebacks PaySystems offers two rate plans 3 95 plus 1 or 5 5 plus 0 35 with up to 5 of sales held for six months on a rolling basis Both offer a shopping cart but you don t have to use it You can implement the cart on your own site and use the services only for payment of the total PayPal also can be used this way but the other third party credit card processors require you to use their internal catalogs Another feature offered by PayPal 2CheckOut and PaySystems but none of the other third party credit card processors is the ability to post purchase information back to a script on your site This allows you to store order information in a database and send an automated message to customers after verifying payment for example a software registration code PayPal and 2CheckOut post back instantly while with PaySystems there s a 2 3 hour delay for fraud screening PayPal doesn t require fraud screening because the money is in hand but 2CheckOut does and it s disconcerting to receive fraud alerts after your script has already mailed out software registration codes 2CheckOut is aware of this problem and is working on a solution There are a few other differences 2CheckOut allows you to customize the order form with a header and footer so the look matches your own site PaySystems checkout page is visually aggressive and there is no ability to customize it 2CheckOut allows you to add your company s name to the descriptor line on the customer s credit card bill while PaySystems does not Also to avoid liability beyond the purchase price PaySystems checkout page insists that it sells only PaySystem points that are redeemable for products or services but does not sell the actual products or services themselves They are the only third party processor to describe themselves as a third party processor rather than a reseller The point message on the checkout page is confusing and may make some customers uncomfortable PaySystems also has some image problems because they handle credit card processing for quite a few scammers and spammers for example vendors selling penis enlargement pills PaySystems says they will shut down any account after two complaints for spamming but few people think to complain to a company s credit card processor and their support of these companies has tarnished their reputation For example one Web site devoted to monitoring internet scams warns that sites using PaySystems to process credit cards are more likely to be scams Both 2CheckOut and PaySystems have been victimized in the rash of Distributed Denial of Service DDoS attacks over the last year PaySystems moved to a distributed network with redundancy to protect against such attacks 2CheckOut did the same after a particular devastating attack over Thanksgiving weekend in 2003 All the other third party credit card processors cost more and are less flexible but sometimes offer special features related to specific industries For example the shareware processor RegNow regnow com owned by Digital River charges an astronomical 20 transaction fee but gives access to affiliate programs for increasing sales and optionally will host downloads for a penny a megabyte ClickBank www clickbank com also offers an affiliate program Products are restricted to digital goods and services that can be delivered over the internet Also only one product can be purchased at a time you can t set up a list of products There s a 49 activation fee the transaction fee is 7 5 plus 1 Kagi www kagi com allows both tangible and digital goods and services with a product list rather than a shopping cart There are no setup or monthly fees Transaction fees but average around 8 10 The only other third party processor offering a shopping cart is CCNow a Digital River service that is restricted to tangible goods Use of the shopping cart is required The cost is 9 95 per month 11 95 outside the US plus 9 for sales in excess of 100 11 outside the US Secure Forms Gateways The trickiest part of creating an online store is accepting payment because you have to securely obtain the customer s credit card and then securely transmit it for processing Whether you want to obtain

  • Sheryl's Blog » Blog Archive You’re Probably Iodine Deficient
urine when your body has absorbed all it needs but it s still possible to take too much called iodism The suggested maintenance dose daily iodine requirement in the book 0 11mg per pound of body weight will never give you iodism However a higher dose is suggested at the beginning to make up for your body s iodine deficit I built up to the higher initial dose slowly because iodine has a detoxifying effect which can cause uncomfortable symptoms It turned out I didn t experience that however I don t eat a lot of packaged or prepared foods so I had little bromides in my body verified by Hakala Labs I did find however that taking 4 pills a day as suggested in the book at the beginning gave me headaches I m very headache prone so it could have been just me But it s also the first sign of iodism so I cut back to 3 pills a day and the headaches went away I now take 1 5 pills per day to maintain As for taking iodine supplements with synthroid It depends more on the condition of your thyroid why you re taking synthroid People with hot nodules may take synthroid to suppress thyroid function that s what I was told to do but I didn t do it others take it because their thyroid doesn t produce enough hormone still others take it because their thyroid has been surgically removed or destroyed with radioactive iodine It s worth noting though I know this isn t your situation that even people without a functioning thyroid need iodine since the thyroid isn t the only part of the body that uses iodine My non medical opinion is that if you re taking synthroid to suppress hot nodules as I was supposed to have been but wasn t you might want to go off it when you start the iodine supplementation to at least give your thyroid the opportunity to return to normal function as mine did If you re taking synthroid to supplement inadequate thyroid function it would probably be a good idea to monitor your T3 T4 and TSH blood levels frequently for the next year or two maybe every 3 6 months to make sure your dosage is still correct The iodine supplementation will likely make your thyroid start producing more hormone in line with your body s needs Possibly you ll end up not needing the synthroid There s also some sort of boomerang thing that happens when the thyroid first starts functioning normally again but I can t remember the details it s described in the book Of course people who no longer have a functioning thyroid will always need the synthroid and their dosage levels won t change but they will benefit in other ways from iodine supplementation Iodine is also absorbed heavily by the breasts and bowel for example Let s talk and I can tell you more I can also tell you about 23andme It s fun and useful My brother and one of my nieces have done it too It s fascinating to see how you match up with your relatives My brother and I are about 50 genetically identical my niece and I about 25 math works I wonder what our percent would be It said I was 97 Ashkenazi Jew from Eastern Europe with light eyes and curly hair okay I knew that but it was still fun that THEY knew that from my spit It told me that a medication I was taking was not safe for me to take that was news I called my doctor to let him know It also tells you your genetic risk of many different diseases which some people find disconcerting therefore the Nanny Laws I found it interesting Lee says September 7 2013 at 8 35 am I have often wondered if using more sea salt and other gourmet salts has an effect on iodine levels As my wife and I have gotten more and more into cooking the last few years started just trying to eat less processed and fast food and morphed into more complicated dishes etc we have also stated using salt grinders flavor salt kosher salt sea salt etc and leaving the old school Morton s can of iodized salt on the shelf Melissa says November 6 2013 at 5 52 am Hello I sund as if I m in the same position as you have nodules a goiter and very low TSH but nromal range T3 and T4 I am tempted to try Iodoral but am aslo leanign towards kelp supplementation as I guess it seems more natural to me Did you ever try Kelp instead of Iodoral Thanks Sheryl Canter says November 6 2013 at 1 29 pm I went straight to Iodoral because I was convinced by what I read that kelp supplements did not have sufficient iodine I had another blood test last week and my thyroid remains completely normal I think that to do this with food naturally you d have to start eating sea vegetables every day in fairly large quantities as they do in Japan In Japan children are told to eat their sea vegetables like American children are told to eat their broccoli Melissa says November 27 2013 at 3 37 am Hello Sheryl Can I ask if you also took other supplements such as Selenium and if so in what dosage From reading around it looks like various supplements including Selenium Magnesium and Vit C alongside Iodoral are considered important in treating Multi Nodular Goiter Thanks Sheryl Canter says November 27 2013 at 4 19 am No the only supplement I added was Iodoral I just had my thyroid levels checked again this week T3 T4 TSH and they are all 100 normal No more hot nodules Iodine is all I needed to solve the problem And one of the endocrinologists I saw was ready to irradiate my thyroid and destroy it Betsey says December 24 2013 at 5 09 pm Hello Sheryl Were you hyperthyroid when you started taking iodine I have hyperthyroidism very low TSH but normal T3 and T4 with nodules But when I took some prolamine iodine that a holistic chiropractor gave me my symptoms got VERY much worse I am really confused about this iodine issue and do not want to take medication to fix the problem I can see taking iodine for hypothyroidism but it is not as clear with hyperthyroidism Thanks Sheryl Canter says December 24 2013 at 5 55 pm Betsey my situation was identical to yours borderline hyperthyroid very low TSH but normal T3 and T4 Taking iodine fixed it everything now normal Read the post carefuly I give exactly blood levels It s very specific You have to take the right kind of iodine supplement and in the right amount Read the post If you do what I did you ll probably get the results I got especially since our starting stituation is exactly the same I read that you can become more hyperthyroid before it levels out Give it time C says February 2 2014 at 1 58 am Thank you for this blog I started taking Lugols 5 iodine a year ago after learning it was used to combat fungus and bacteria and build up immune system Boy I am so glad I ve found it It is a cure for many many many of todays chronic conditions All the reproductive cancers in men and women have a root in depleted iodine Adhd was cured in the 19th and 20 th centuries with it I could feel the positve effects immediately specifically it calmed my nerves Now I have begun taking nascent iodine from Dr Edward group His products sell on inforwars com store and they are all tip top quality it gives me real energy not hyper energy Sheryl Canter says February 2 2014 at 4 10 pm I recommend the supplement mentioned in my blog post Iodoral The dosage is adequate it s pill form so it doesn t taste bad and I have proof in my body that it works Cheryl says April 4 2014 at 9 11 am I m wondering why you have to take a maintenance does I also have nodules and a hot thyroid I have been officially dx d with SIBO which can cause malabsorption so I think that s what caused my deficiency Of course SIBO has no cure yet Sheryl Canter says April 8 2014 at 11 23 am You need a maintenance dose for the same reason you need to take it in the first place insufficient iodine in the diet Ashley says April 8 2014 at 2 23 pm Thank you for this research I have a family history of thyroid issues was just told I have a toxic hot nodule on my thyroid I have taken iodine in the past stopped due to the scary stories found goiter had scan fna tomorrow Since my ENDO said iodine was fine for me to take I have continued I don t take the pills I paint a couple drops of lugol s 7 randomly around my body I have a TSH of 08 low ft3 high ft4 I also had a thyroid storm when that passed I restarted the painting It gives me energy I never get ill Sheryl Canter says April 8 2014 at 2 33 pm Ashley I doubt that you are getting as much iodine through your skin as you would from swallowing Iodoral in the dosage I described in the article You need a lot to make up for the kind of deficit that causes hot nodules You might want to try it it cured my thyroid problem hot nodules as you can see from my blood test results Thyroid nodules run in my family too I suspect because we have an above average need for iodine Cindy says May 14 2014 at 1 36 am I am at wits end trying to figure out how to get my son off of the Ritalin and or Adderal my son has been on for years now I actually weaned him off the Adderal recently gradually added Iodoral iodine iodide supple ment he s now taking 3 12 5 tabs ea day but he s still struggling greatly daily to get his school studies done I m ready to put him back on the Ritalin because his focusing issue is worse now but he is eating more now that he s been off of the pharma drugs I m very worried still because as each day progresses he struggles to maintain his usual level of focus while on the Ritalin or Adderal but he s sleeping eating much better now that he s drug free But his ability to focus make good choices gets worse as the day goes along he gets angrier as well I just don t know what to think or do Our son was adopted at birth and WS know there were issues w the birth mom as well as all of his siblings even tho there are 4 different birth father s involved w all the siblings In just don t know if I should watch him continue to struggle with his focus anger issues while taking the daily 37 5 MCG mg dose of Iodoral or get him back on the Ritalin deal w the sleep appetite issues He lost a lot of weight while on the Ritalin as well as the Adderal Plz send me any info you can that might help me figure out what I should do as to which pathway to take In am soon to be 60 yrs old next month our son jUST turned 17 I m worn out sick with worry about him his behavior and that he won t be able to finish his home school subjects graduate next year Thank you for listening to me Cindy B Holly C says June 18 2014 at 8 44 pm Sheryl I am so glad my mom found your blog You give me some hope I am like you low TSH with normal FT3 and FT4 Recently had ultrasound and then scan and uptake and found out I have hot nodules As we are trying to have a family recommendation is surgery We have had 5 losses and also have MTHFR A1298C mutation which we found out trying to see why I can t carry For the last 5 years I have had thyroid testing with the same results and the official diagnosis was subclinical hyperthyroidism I was curious about iodine treatment and yours is the first I have heard of it working for hot nodules I am going to have the 24 hr iodine loading urine test and see if I am indeed iodine deficient as I suspect Thank you so much you may have saved me from surgery and a lifetime of thyroid hormone supplementation Lynette says July 24 2014 at 1 57 am I have been told I have a nodule calcium deposit on my thyroid However the doctor said it is fine and we will watch it for 6 months to see if it grows Meanwhile my blood test comes back everytime saying my thyroid numbers are normal I have every single symptom of a sluggish thyroid but the doctor says no you are fine I have several family members including mother on synthroid for thyroid problems So now what do I do My right arm is trembling but they say it is not from thyroid either KP says July 24 2014 at 4 38 pm do you have these figures reversed Before iodine One month on iodine Mar 8 2012 normal range Jul 19 2012 normal range T3 131 71 180 ng dL T3 total 0 82 0 80 2 00 ng ml T4 8 7 4 5 12 0 ug dL 5 1 4 5 11 7 mcg dl TSH 0 013 0 45 4 500 uIU mL TSH ultrasensitive 2 690 0 270 4 200 uIU ml typically we d want to see a lower TSH figure and higher levels of T3 not the other way around KP says July 24 2014 at 4 43 pm oops please disregard my comment above I don t see a way to delete it I just realized you were saying your levels were too high before mine are always low so I am always looking for the reverse effect Jennifer Keinutske says August 31 2014 at 1 51 pm I just stumbled upon your post as well Just so happens I am a patient at Dr Brownstein s Clinic in Michigan there are three MDs there and Dr Ng is my doctor and I can not sing their praises enough On to the reason for my comment I don t love how Dr Brownstein s books are put together but they are life savers if you haven t read Salt Your Way To Health It is a MUST read and you will be beyond please I am a fairly new patient to their practice I haven t read all the books not sure if I even need to so I am not promoting for any reason other than I have thyroid and autoimmune issues too Dr Ng also is requiring his patience read Grain Brain by Dr David Perlmutter not often physicians ask their patients to read books written by Doctors from outside their practice Kathy Strine says October 1 2014 at 12 02 am I am taking the Armour thyroid pills I was taking the Iodoral but was told that I probably don t need them My grandmother had a large goiter and my sis now is developing one While on the Iodoral my neck got skinny because the thyroid gland swelled up when I lacked enough Iodine Sis is taking the synthyroid pills With them I would have my heart race whenever I laid down of night Scared me so had Dr give me the other brand Does dry skin and eyes seem to indicate lack of enough Iodine Sheryl Canter says October 1 2014 at 12 07 am Kathy you don t give enough information for me to comment on your condition Who said you don t need more iodine Dry skin is a symptom of low thyroid Marisa says October 10 2014 at 2 26 pm Hello Sheryl many thanks for sharing your story I wondered if you could let us know how many nodules you had and how big they were I have two thyroid nodules the largest is nearly 4cm and at the moment it feels like I m choking Thankfully I m not hyperT nor hypoT I ve tried the iodine protocol twice this year and both times I felt extremely ill couldn t think straight extreme tiredness twitching muscles etc The symptoms cleared up within 2 days of coming off iodine I don t think I eased myself into it properly so I might try again at a slower pace But thanks anyway for sharing it s encouraging to hear there s a cure for some people at least Regards Marisa Marisa says October 10 2014 at 2 48 pm Sheryl I ve just realised that the Brownstein book you quote is called iodine why you need it why you can t live without it Could you let me know whether this is where you found the iodine protocol for your nodules please I have Brownstein s book overcoming thyroid disorders and it doesn t say anything about the dosage for nodules in there In fact if I remember correctly there is only one sentence in the whole book that mentions nodules I found my protocol off the internet but I just wondered whether the book you mentioned had more information in it than the one

who ends up in an affair with her ex husband played by Alec Baldwin And then there is the divorced architect played by Steve Martin who also is interested in Streep s character I won t tell you who wins I thought the acting and direction were better than the script which was a bit predictable The acting was great everyone in it was good One very funny scene was when Streep s character tells her children about the affair with their father thanks to some inspired direction or maybe it was in the script who knows I won t spoil that for you either The movie has many funny moments one in particular is fall on the floor funny If you see it you ll know which one I mean The film consistently held my attention never dragged But it became obvious fairly early on what was going to happen so there wasn t a lot of suspense Nor was there much depth in the character development This is okay in a light comedy there just wasn t a lot to it It s a simple story with simple characters I d rate it good but not great pleasant but not profound It s a pleasant way to spend a couple hours but not the kind of movie you tell all your friends they have to see Tags Movies Category Life Miscellaneous Observations Comment RSS Trackback Leave a Reply Click here to cancel reply Name required Mail will not be published required Website CAPTCHA Code Currently you have JavaScript disabled In order to post comments please make sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled and reload the page Click here for instructions on how to enable JavaScript in your browser Subscribe Subscribe to Sheryl s Blog Categories Food Recipes Cooking

right on the equator I googled how to cut my own curly bob and walla I found you I video taped the whole thing today in small segments and will try to figure out how to post In the mean time thank you Emmy says June 3 2012 at 7 32 pm Sheryl Thanks for your post I was worried about cutting my very curly hair on my own I didn t think it could be done in two cuts But I did it with a little help from my husband and it s adorable Thanks for your walk thru Sonia says July 26 2012 at 6 40 pm Thanks for the post Sheryl I started using this method earlier this year and love it I ve recommended it to a few other curlies I know Again thanks Lori Durwar says August 17 2012 at 4 12 pm I like you and most of the commenters here have been struggling with my curly hair all of my life My hair had grown past my shoulders because I was too wary of going to yet another stylist who swears they know what they are doing with my texture of hair only to cut it so short that I have no choice than to straighten it only to have it end up looking fried over worked I have never been a stranger to cutting my own hair I always snipped here and trimmed there in lieu of stylist trims for the above stated reasons I googled How to cut your own curly hair and viola there you were I read all of the comments and looked at the pictures and watched the video posted by a commenter and was so psyched to do it myself I ran upstairs and snipped away I did it with dry hair my hair poofs up a lot when it s dry so I did not want to over do it the first try with wet hair I was a little conservative my dry do barely brushes the tops of my shoulders now but the curls lie in nicely stacked layers and very flattering face framing waves and curls Thanks for posting I may never pay for another hair cut again Sorry there is no pic my phone died and my camera batteries are dead right now Tina says September 12 2012 at 5 23 pm Sue Cut below the elastic I just did this method a week ago on my bsl 2b hair I love it Never got such a good cut from a salon They just didn t believe me when I told them to leave the front extra long So naturally my bangs ended up above my eyes uugh terrible Haha no more I m my own salon now Diane says December 28 2012 at 11 44 am Wow I m amazed and want to give this haircut a try Has anyone posted here though who has very thick curly hair I think I have enough thickness for 3 people seriously Will I need to have it thinned also to do this hairstyle Also like many of you have said I too have never yet found any stylist who can make my curly thick hair work for me so I just wear it up in a huge ponytail all of the time I m getting tired of it though and want something cute Suggestions anyone Kael says December 30 2012 at 6 49 pm Your haircut is so cute It looks great I use this basic idea but I don t like bob cuts on myself personally so I go with a longer style Same idea but I do it backwards making the cut on top first If you would like the front to frame your face simply move the ponytail to the front of your head Cut all the hair to the length you would like the shortest part of the front frame to be Remove the ponytail This in itself creates a nice layered style but I like the back shorter than this achieves so I then part my hair down the middle all the way to the base of my hairline and pull the back around the sides and in front of my shoulders Then I cut straight across at the desired length To make sure the two sides are even I pull the parts closest to my chin together to the center This cut creates a slightly curved u shape back instead of the harsh straight cut that never has looked right with my curls I ve found this cut frames my face nicely and creates the layers curls need My first go at this took me about 20 minutes because I was nervous but since then it only takes me 10 at the very most I will never let a stranger touch my hair again after finding how easy it is to do at home myself Doing it myself actually came out better than the last time I paid for a haircut Thank you for getting the word out how easy it is to cut your own hair To those of you still worried about trying it I suggest starting off with a longer style It s easier to cut more than it is to wait for it to grow back out Kiya says January 19 2013 at 6 52 pm Wow I first thought no way this has got to be a fake website But after trying it on my daughter lol I saw that it turned out AMAZINGLY CUTE So cute that I feel it is necessary to post a comment saying thank you to all who tried before and posted video and pics and thank you Ms Sheryl for sharing this vital info I am now going to go home and try it on myself I will surly post some pics when it is all said and done Thank you for all of your help I

humans are so incredibly greedy There has to be regulation or you have what s going on in China antifreeze in the toothpaste sweet tasting poison in baby formula lead in kids toys Mike says September 30 2009 at 3 38 pm I am neither very rich nor very poor though that is somewhat of a relative question I vote for what I believe would be in the best interest of the country Really I do Sometimes that means voting against my own self interest Being for a government run health care program would help my kids out in the short term but I am not for it I am not an advocate of legalized stealing from one to give to someone else in order that they can have something for nothing Polls can be very misleading as pointed out in my first comment here on your Blog Which Poll do you subscribe to I quoted a fairly recent poll from Rasmussen Look we have fraud and corruption in all aspects of society in all parts of the world I am all for better regulation that keep people more honest if thats doable I see a problem with both Republicans and Democrats in that for a politician to be successful he she must bow to the leadership of their party even if it goes against what they personally believe or want to do This is not specific to any one party I see that as a fundemental flaw in the two party system But laws can not replace honorable customs traditions and moral values in regulating human behavior What we are seeing all over the place now days are laws replacing human decency I don t have a solution for that but I believe a growing secular society is partly to blame There is an awful lot of demonizing of so called big business anymore Thats a reaction that is being fed by lots of things including people like Mr Maher and Mr Moore through media The right certainly has it s problems with people like Hannity and Rush Limbaugh who contrary to what some would have you believe do not represent the Republican party Its very ironic to me that the same people who fault our government and speak of cronyism mistrust of their congressmen also believe that government should fix the problem Why is it that so many Americans are in favor of taking money they don t personally own from some and having the government use it for what they view as a good cause for others People love government because government while having neither moral nor constitutional authority has the legal and physical might to take the property of one American and give it to someone else As to regulation well we are not a China not even close Are you saying there is corruption in China We do have regulation in this country Quite a lot of it as a matter of fact and the
