    Barbero and curator Anna Moszynska and marks Gormley s first exhibition in Italy as well as the largest exhibition of the artist s works on paper since Antony Gormley Drawing at the British Museum in 2002 Drawing Space will open with a vernissage on October 25th 2010 and will be on view through February 6 2011 A catalogue will be published to coincide with the exhibition with insightful texts from both curators Drawing Space features more than eighty works on paper from seminal works in the early 80s to recent drawings alongside four sculptures from recent years The act of drawing has played an indispensable role in the artist s exploration of the human form and its relation to space throughout his career Drawing Space investigates the works on paper emphasizing their intrinsic link to Gormley s sculptural practice and highlighting how the process of drawing has informed the changes in thinking behind much of his recent sculpture Antony Gormley s work is included in numerous public collections worldwide including the Tate Modern London the Centre Georges Pompidou Paris the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles the Walker Art Center Minneapolis the Denver

    by Laurie Anderson This landmark exhibition entitled I in U Eu em Tu is curated by Marcello Dantas and will be on view from October 12 through December 26 2010 it will subsequently travel to the CCBB in Rio de Janeiro Anderson s works which poetically investigate the pluralities of language will be installed on every floor of the CCBB building In conjunction with the opening celebration Anderson will re perform Duets on Ice a piece originally created in 1974 in which the artist wearing skates embedded in blocks of ice plays the violin in duet with a recording of herself playing the violin until the ice beneath her feet melts This engaging exhibition is the first solo retrospective of Laurie Anderson s work in Brazil Though she is known primarily for her multimedia performances Anderson has cast herself in roles as varied as visual artist composer poet photographer filmmaker vocalist and instrumentalist The retrospective at the CCBB will cover the full breadth of Anderson s dynamic body of work including installations photographs drawings videos music and documentation of performances and films Anderson has also created new works for the exhibition such as the multifaceted installation Delusion which combines musical

    A forthcoming catalogue will accompany the work Exposure which stands at approximately twenty six meters high and weighs sixty tonnes gives the impression of being a drawing in space The figure is constructed of five thousand randomly orientated steel sections arranged to articulate the human body as an open entity porous to light and the elements The expansive landscape of brackish sea and lowland sky that Exposure inhabits is a significant aspect of the work As Gormley describes the physical experience of the sculpture I wanted an object that couldn t be read immediately the opposite if you like of the Angel of the North arguably Gormley s most well known public work to date which immediately confronts you Exposure invites you to investigate to walk to it You can see it as a human form in the distance It becomes more abstract the closer you get to it And finally it becomes a chaotic frame through which you can look at the sky Antony Gormley s work is included in numerous public collections worldwide including the Tate Modern London the Centre Georges Pompidou Paris the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles the
