universal and this is the first time that I ve really experienced that on my own However I will admit to being a little frustrated at the pacing I realize the goal is to have an encounter each session but I want to see a little more progress I want to move beyond level 1 I want more It s still fun but I m ready after four weeks to be a little older and more experienced As part of my next D D Encounters review I ll share some of my thoughts on playing a Hybrid Invoker Avenger from 4e dndenc rpgbloggers Stupid Ranger 8 Responses leave one Cedric permalink April 13 2010 Good to hear you had a good experience I m curious as to how this was going to pan out myself I talked to Chris Tulach over at WotC and he seemed really excited over this his pet project and it seems to be going over well As for wanting to play more have you thought about the RPGA Living Forgotten Realms Stupid Ranger permalink April 14 2010 I got contact info for a local LFR group I haven t jumped in yet but I know where to go when I m ready Tourq permalink April 19 2010 I m on hiatus myself I just got burnt out Oh well I ll be back someday Tourq Noumenon permalink April 21 2010 I can t remember if I raised this issue before but some of your archives may be broken since http www stupidranger com 2007 09 proper villainy pt 2 time to kill 04 php doesn t work any more The good news is the Internet Archive Wayback Machine still has a copy and the other good news is probably not that many people are still

As we continued our exploration we encountered a tortured soul who had no control over her actions most of which involved attacking us And that s when I got in trouble I was attempting to move to a more secure location in the room when I was attacked and knocked prone Our Runepriest was only able to heal one of us involved in the battle and I told him to help the Fighter who seemed to be more effective in combat Then before I could even stand up I was unconscious Fortunately the Runepriest was able to heal me shortly thereafter and I returned to the fray Unfortunately I was so rattled by the experience I wasn t able to do much of anything productive after that The rest of the group managed to end the poor soul s suffering But this pace has been difficult for us all we could all use a nice long rest and I hope we manage one soon from 4e dndenc rpgbloggers Stupid Ranger One Response leave one Matthew Arcilla permalink May 26 2010 I ve always wondered if prolonged adventures in dungeons Underdarks Undermountains and Undercities would result in severe Vitamin D deficiencies

than us Our monk went down three times the warlock and the psion both once Fortunately no one died But it was close So imagine this my cloth wearing invoker avenger is backed into a corner her sword in one hand and her rod in the other The monk has fallen the warlock takes a nasty hit and falls too There are two enemies left and one takes the psion down Atora is standing alone facing two enemies Suddenly 12 hit points doesn t seem like enough to survive the round She lands her attack dealing some radiant damage Then suddenly the warlock stands back up Combat ended shortly after that Everyone survived though our monk has decided that adventuring isn t for him so he s headed back to the surface the player has decided to hang up the monk and replace him with a leader role class And we can definitely use the healing Suddenly next week looks a little more promising from 4e dndenc rpgbloggers Stupid Ranger One Response leave one Yoo Hoo Tom permalink March 24 2010 There s never a Dwarven fighter around when you need one We had 6 7 people for our first

the source material to not have to read verbatim It was a good gaming experience Combat was a little rough on us as a group Our monks did a great job of engaging in melee combat with a little help from the warlock and the ranged attackers Only one monk fell in battle but he did not die Atora managed to revive him hooray bonus renown point I think it would have been a bit smoother if we d had a leader in the party to help with healing but in the end we survived I play to recap my Hybrid character experiences after I ve had a little more game time but I wanted to share a bit of Atora s combat experience Rolling a 1 and a 2 on two of the three attacks I attempted meant I didn t manage to do much damage during combat But I figure reviving the melee combatant had to count toward my damage count At the end of the session I d accumulated 12 renown points earning me the Delver Reward All in all it was a fun experience and I m looking forward to playing again next week from 4e dndenc rpgbloggers Stupid Ranger 4 Responses leave one Greg permalink March 19 2010 1 Where did you get that name tag 2 If you made it could you post the file I m DMing my own D D Encounters group and I would love to provide these to my players If these came with the kit my store owner didn t give them to me Stupid Ranger permalink March 19 2010 Greg They were on the table when I walked into the room I thought they came with the kit None of us players actually wrote our names on them

other so long as you build up both halves equally The initial stats are based on combining halves so you re not going to have a crazy lot of hit points or defense bonuses You may gain additional weapon proficiencies but you re restricted to the armor proficiencies both classes share Additionally and I should have mentioned this in my post each hybrid class has a narrower scope of talents when compared to the standard class For example the hybrid bard has access to the Bard Armor Proficiency Bardic Virtue Song of Rest and Words of Friendship talents you d find with a standard bard but the hybrid can only select one talent from that list The drawback of taking a hybrid class is that you haven t fully studied the occupation as fully so you don t gain all of the benefits Jenny Snyder permalink March 17 2010 Thanks That s pretty much what I was wondering about I haven t looked over the hybrid stuff myself yet I have a bad habit of only being interested in reading the things my players plan to use I appreciate your take on the matter Jamwes permalink March 17 2010 I finally got around to looking at hybrids myself last night with the roomie and my conclusion is that they are a lot better then I first thought they would be The right combinations seem to gel wonderfully The trick is knowing what exactly what you want to do For example I was looking for ways to have some fun min maxing Marauder s Rush or what ever that Ranger at will is called and the conclusion that we came up with was a Ranger Warden For the expenditure of the talent feat and two 18s I now have a character that can mark one target a turn have fighter AC and Striker damage InspectorHound permalink March 17 2010 Jamwes just remember that you only Mark an enemy when you attack it with a Fighter power and you can only use Quarry damage when you attack it with a Ranger power Jamwes permalink March 17 2010 Which is why Warden is so awesome as a free action you can mark one target I guess I should have said AC 19 instead of Fighter AC that would have made my description clearer As for Quarry damage on only Ranger powers yeah that can be a bummer But it all depends on how you look at the build and what powers you take If all of your go to powers are Ranger and your situational powers are from your other class then it isn t so bad All the more reason why I stated up a Longtooth Shifter with 18 Str and 18 Wis When I want to do damage I ll use Marauder s Rush which is 1 W 4 4 Quarry Otherwise I ll be using powers with cool effects which make up for not having Quarry damage The trick is

to say at first glance my favorite aspect of the monk is the Initiate of the Dragon Paragon path Here you ve learned the ancient skills that were once taught by dragons to particularly gifted humans and have pass through the ages Once you ve mastered this Paragon Path at 20th level you have fully developed the ability to polymorph into a dragon What About the Rest Each of the other psionic classes has its interesting features as well as the more mundane powers related to keeping oneself alive But here s what I thought was neat about the Ardent Battlemind Psion They don t have Encounter powers Instead they gain At Will powers when everyone else gets Encounter Powers These At Will Powers are fairly useful in their own right but there s an extra little kick to make them truly unique for the psionics These three classes gain Power Points at Encounter Power Levels Power Points can be used with Augmentable At Will Psion powers Based on the number of Power Points expended to augment a power the At Will gains extra strength It s an interesting concept of psionics control over their mental abilities by training and focusing their mental powers they can alter their attacks as needed Power Points reset after a short or extended rest giving them the same basic utility as Encounter powers Now I am personally more of a give me a sword or a fireball I want to see the damage I m about to inflict class preference But after reviewing these new psionic classes I m impressed with the width and breadth of their abilities I think they would be fun to play from 4e phb3 reviews rpgbloggers Stupid Ranger One Response leave one Jenny Snyder permalink March 12 2010 Become
