    Question Answer Costs and Charges 1 Are there set up costs and annual charges which our health board hospital will have to pay in order to use the Heart Manual digital format No Most definitely not There are no set up costs or annual charges 2 How much does the digital format cost per patient The cost is exactly the same as the book format of the Heart Manual Please refer to www theheartmanual com for charges for manuals training 3 Why does the digital format cost the same as the book surely it must be cheaper The cost is the same whether book or digital format There are absolutely no annual overhead charges to health boards to host the digital format a very important factor The practicalities of using 1 How do I go about getting some digital formats The same way you would order the book format Call the HM office on 0131 537 9137 or email heart manual nhslothian scot nhs uk and we will provide you with individual patient logins for the amount you require 2 Can the digital format be used on a SMART phone Yes it can be used on a SMART phone however as the HM is an interactive tool most people will find it easier to complete it on larger screen 3 How does the patient get started on it They will be provided with a personal login from their facilitator and from there they can get started All very straightforward 4 We don t have Wifi in our hospital yet can I use it Yes If show explain a copy of the book format to the patient and provide them with a login they can commence at home 5 How will the Heart Manual facilitator interact with the patient In the

  • Digital Heart Manual wins 1st prize at the NHS Scotland eHealth awards
    Scotland eHealth awards at the Health Informatics Scotland conference in Edinburgh The conference included keynotes from the Cabinet Secretary for Health Shona Robison MSP members of the Scottish government eHealth department as well as prominent academics and industry The award was presented by Mr Eddie Turnbull Head of eHealth at the Scottish Government who commended the resource for its collaborative and iterative approach Patients clinicians and eHealth experts from around Scotland inputted to the Heart Manual digital format which was an integral to its development It is terrific to be able to share this news with all those involved The fact that commissioners and clinicians now have a choice to use the Heart Manual in book or digital format with patients has been extremely well received in the UK and further afield While the scaling up of digital technology can be seen as the way forward having the choice of a paper OR digital format helps the many NHS areas who are not yet ready for 100 technology and the many patients who may still prefer a book to a tablet Louise Taylor Head of Service accepts first prize from Eddie Turnbull Head of eHealth Scottish Government eHealth Divisio n
