  • A Programme for Heart Failure
    study of the manual in 50 patients with Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction HFpEF began in Dundee in June From the outset the Heart Manual Department at NHS Lothian has been actively involved in REACH HF The team has provided expertise based on the existing Heart Manual for post MI patients completed an extensive review of current healthcare services for those living with heart failure co developed and delivered training for facilitators and contributed to the design and editing of the final manual that was used in the feasibility study and the main RCT The continued support and involvement of the Heart Manual team is essential to the success of the project For more information on the REACH HF project please visit our w ebsite www rcht nhs uk RoyalCornwallHospitalsTrust WorkingWithUs TeachingAndResearch ReachHF This contribution presents independent research funded by the National Institute for Health Research NIHR under the Programme Grants for Applied Research Programme RP PG 1210 12004 UPDATE April 2015 The Rehabilitation Enablement in Chronic Heart Failure REACH HF National Institute for Health Research NIHR funded research programme officially began in 2013 The aim of REACH HF is to develop and evaluate a new rehabilitation intervention for people with heart failure and their caregivers The home based intervention comprises an evidence informed Heart Failure Manual a Family Friends Resource and Progress Tracker together with an exercise programme tailored to individuals to help patients to manage their own condition with the support of specifically trained facilitators In 2013 the research team developed the Heart Failure Manual and following a successful feasibility study of the REACH HF intervention in 2014 the main randomised controlled trial is now underway across the four study sites Cornwall Birmingham Gwent and York An additional pilot study of the manual in patients with Heart
