through belief systems has caused us to live through karma We create and repeat cycles over and over again only because we believe in these systems we ve created We not only repeat them on a daily basis but also on a life after life basis If you hold the love for someone or something else it is held out of the fear of losing it In neutrality there is no holding of energy Neutrality holds no energy There is no holding the positive or negative If you hold the positive it is because you fear the negative If you are holding the negative it is because of the fear of the negative which makes it real Attachments are simply held energy that you fear letting go of Connections connect these attachments and create a time line which makes it difficult to live in the here and now It is not contained within any package human or otherwise If you place a metaphoric box around someone or something and call it love then what happens to everything else that you haven t placed a metaphoric box around If God is love and God is also everything then God also happens to be YOU Is it possible for God to love some things and put containers around them that says love while other things aren t contained with that box of love Loving some things and not others simply means judgment for or against them Neutrality cannot be found in judgment It can only be found in the balance of all things It can t be limited or labeled Human love is either romantic or emotionally attached Therefore if you can say that you are in love with another person or that you love your children spouse friend etc more than you love another you are also saying that you are emotionally attached to them Attachments only arise from the fear of losing them The fear of losing something only happens because you are attached to it That fear energy is a held energy that sits inside your body and attaches more of the same to itself It is a cycle that keeps you on a time line and automatically creates a future of the same thing It certainly doesn t come from the mind and it cannot judge right or wrong The human mind operates at 186 000 miles per second That means in short that by the time your eyes see your ears hear your mouth tastes or your nose smells it is literally already in the past Which means the human mind that sits in the human now and says that you love someone or something is purely and simply human and of the mind It is also already in the past The eyes create the optical illusion that says you are attached to that person or thing The mind creates the illusion that says you love But the heart lives and understands that Love is Everything The

global healing by providing a vehicle to expand the power of the feminine yin energy throughout humanity Yet within every endeavor in life the yang masculine and yin feminine energies are involved and there is a struggle to find balance And although Tai Chi may be part of the healing solutions even Tai Chi is not above the fray in this struggle for balance and wholeness The originators of Tai Chi seem to have been aware of creating something that profoundly balances humans on the deepest levels We see the results of their awareness they wove into the technology of Tai Chi in the emerging medical research reporting that Tai Chi can help balance hormonal levels in aging men and women lowering men s high estrogen levels while raising women s low estrogen levels and lowering the blood sugar levels of people with Type II diabetes for example These results show us a physical shadow of the internal balancing Tai Chi has on people Yet Tai Chi itself as mentioned before also struggles with finding balance to become its most effective and profound self Tai Chi is known worldwide as a martial art and indeed it is a highly developed form of self defense that enables practitioners to defend themselves from attack both physically from attackers and health wise from invading viruses and bacteria These are examples of the yang or masculine aspect of Tai Chi However there is also a powerful yin or feminine aspect that Tai Chi offers perhaps more than any other known exercise This is the unseen the receptive the intuitive nature of Tai Chi When one is not doing Tai Chi as a martial arts Kata series of fighting forms consciously warding off enemies with each thought and muscle motion or with a conscious intention to heal something but rather losing oneself in the flow of motion breath and physical release that is when the mind heart and body are immersed in the yin or feminine aspects of Tai Chi This is not a utilitarian aspect of Tai Chi It is not being done to defend or to strike or even to heal oneself with the motions For utilitarian usage of Tai Chi immediately puts the mind and body into a Yang or Masculine modality where form and outcome are utmost and control is needed to exact the desired outcome The yin or feminine energy seeks no result but rather opens to the pleasure of what is as it unfolds from within the opening petals of consciousness and experience coming together without any destination or intention or judgment or analysis of right and wrong correct or incorrect superior or inferior What good is such practice Some might ask Creativity and inspiration come from the unseen the yin the receptive the intuitive Albert Einstein once said Imagination is more important that knowledge Einstein didn t devalue the masculine or yang consciousness for he also defined success as 10 inspiration and 90 perspiration However he did exalt the yin feminine intuitive consciousness as the MOST important For without that all important spark of awareness or inspiration which can only come from quiet contemplative thought the 90 perspiration would be as purposeful as a busy hamster running around its endless wheel that leads nowhere Just as many of the world s actions today are resulting in environmental and political messes that could easily be avoided if preceded by deep contemplation before action occurs Too often our endless business busy ness is not purposeful at all as far as solving our global problems but to the unaware observer the decision makers look very important and very busy Qi or life energy is a subtle unseen power that emerges from the very fabric of the subatomic field that makes up all matter In this field all things are connected and insights from this pure consciousness can be powerfully complex solutions that seem simple and elegant and obvious once they come to mind Tai Chi may help cultivate such intuitive receptive states of mind if taught to that end Tai Chi can be incorporated with gentle deep breathing and physical loosening and mental images of constantly letting go of everything so that this unseen force of the universe can flow through us emanating from every cell and atom of our being and expanding effortlessly from each airy fold of the tissues of our mind We can allow every atom of our being to glow with and be permeated by this energy of life as we move through the flowing motions of Tai Chi without purpose without analysis without grades or self judgments But rather only for the sheer pleasure of being while experiencing the thousands of wonderful sensations tingling and percolating through the body Tai Chi becomes an effortless self massage that flows through the yielding heart mind and body This state is not directed by the mind but allows the mind to let go and be massaged by the pleasant sensations flowing through it holding on to nothing not analyzing or even naming the sensations caressing and washing the mind as they flow through This pool of sensation Tai Chi can bathe us in again and again day after day enables the subtle possibilities and gentle power of the yin and feminine to permeate our being and consciousness and through that affect our actions in the world It can change the way we function so that rather than charging into personal or social or national decisions we now instinctively contemplate and intuit all the possible outcomes of that action BEFORE taking that action This could keep us out of costly wars and reduce futile quests to find where on earth to dump thousands of tons of highly toxic nuclear waste that will be poisonous for tens of thousands of years It may open us up to more subtle yielding approaches to international relations that can get us the desired results through the subtle dance of negotiation which entails listening before

Chi benefits called Tai Chi the perfect exercise While The Wall Street Journal recently did a front page lifestyle story entitled Qigong The Next Yoga A Sweat Free Workout Tiger Woods Secret Weapon So why all the buzz on Tai Chi Qigong Partly because today s high stressed fast moving population is seeking not only health fitness but serenity Serenity may sound superficial in today s busy world but that aspect of Tai Chi may be why it is increasingly utilized in healthcare corporate wellness education and even in prison and drug rehabilitation programs The current hubbub about Tai Chi Qigong may be that we are only now seeing the breaking of a tsunami wave of growing evidence unearthed by western medical research that has been quietly building for the last decade Qigong is a Traditional Chinese medical health practice that directly translated means breathing exercise or energy exercise Tai Chi is a sophisticated form of moving qigong which involves a series of choreographed movements done in a relaxed and flowing way Both have gained increasing attention by western medical researchers in the last decade that has been gaining steam and resulted in more research dollars going toward discovering their benefits The National Institute of Mental Health has increased funding to further research these ancient yet modern health techniques A couple of such study s findings one a ten year study through Harvard Yale and Emory Universities stunned researchers when they discovered that the gentle slow relaxing low impact Tai Chi improved the balance of practitioners profoundly reducing their risk of falling by 47 5 Another found that Tai Chi offered significant cardiovascular benefits roughly the same benefits as moderate impact aerobics Yet another study sited in the Hawaii Medical Journal asserted that Tai Chi increased breathing capacity and relieved back and neck aches in practitioners The pain relief and low impact aspects of Tai Chi was good news for everyone but offered even more hope for those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis RA Tai Chi being a weight bearing exercise offered the potential advantages of stimulating bone growth and strengthening connective tissue The only concern was if they RA sufferers could handle a weight bearing exercise without exacerbation of joint symptoms The American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation reported on a study that found RA sufferers practicing a specially tailored form of Tai Chi suffered no significant exacerbation of joint symptoms This was great news not just for RA sufferers but for all maturing baby boomers looking for a health regimen that is kind to the joints Surprisingly given its gentle nature Tai Chi burns a significant amount of calories as well 280 per hour To understand how significant this is realize that down hill skiing burns about 350 per hour Yet Tai Chi is gentle enough to be done in business clothes in the office without even breaking a sweat Which is one reason Tai Chi and Qigong are increasingly being used in corporate wellness programs However there

a report in http www intelihealth com by Natural Standard and the Faculty of Harvard Medical School This is a very important finding and begins to make even more sense when you consider the National Institutes of Mental Health reports that the stress hormones found in depressed women caused bone loss that gave them bones of women nearly twice their age Exactly why Tai Chi offers such benefit may be explained by a study from Australia s La Trobe University that found that Tai Chi reduced levels of stress hormones more effectively than some other forms of activity Details at www seniornet org php default php PageID 6055 But no matter how you slice it research is indicating that Tai Chi may be a very effective multi level beneficial therapy for women A Chinese study reported in the December 2004 Physician and Sportsmedicine found that tai chi could retard bone loss among postmenopausal women significantly Bone mineral density was measured before and after the study period Both groups experienced general bone loss but the rate of bone loss for the Tai Chi group was less than in the control group In fact the Tai Chi practicing group of women slowed bone loss by 2 6 to 3 6 times more The study reported Bone loss was 2 6 to 3 6 times slower p 01 in the distal tibia in the Tai Chi exercise group compared with bone loss in the control group Back in 1999 before these studies began showing that Tai Chi may actually improve bone density or at the least dramatically slow bone loss the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery s 1999 7 19 31 reported that Coupled with drug therapy should be a comprehensive approach to exercise and fall prevention Stretching strengthening impact and balance exercises are effective Of the balance exercises tai chi chuan has proved to be the most successful in decreasing falls This was because falling injuries are a grave health risk for all aging Americans but given the dangers of osteoporosis for women an especially important concern In fact the sixth leading cause of death for aging Americans is complication from falling injuries However research has shown time and time again in major medical studies such as John s Hopkins that Tai Chi can reduce the incidence of falling injuries by 50 in those who practice Tai Chi So even before emerging research began to show that Tai Chi may contribute to stronger bones in menopausal women perhaps by reducing stress hormone levels and providing a gentle weight bearing exercise it was know that Tai Chi was a powerful therapy to reduce falling injury Now there may be even more benefit ancient Chinese health therapies can offer to relieve the discomfort of life changes Tai Chi is known as a general therapeutic form of Qigong pronounced chee gung exercise Qigong means energy exercise or breathing exercise in Chinese This indicates that Qigong combines gentle motion or physical stimulation with
