alone should be enough incentive to get your sixth sense up and running One of the easiest ways to jump start your vibes into action is to think of it as accept it as an honored guest in your life It is important to prepare for your spirit in much the same as you would prepare for any guest And in your home growing up every time we prepared for a guest the first thing we did was to clean up the house and put out the welcome mat Prepare to receive your higher awareness by clearing out the unnecessary in your life and putting you home in order Literally It is hard enough to be conscious of the most obvious when your life is in order but when things are cluttered disorganized and out of order it becomes almost impossible to pay attention to the more subtle direction in life Another step in awakening your sixth sense would be to slow down and check in with your spirit When I teach awakening your vibes I tell my students that what you are beginning to do is build a relationship with your spirit And as with any relationship especially in the earliest stages it is important to take time for it and pay attention If you are rushing through everyday like a runaway train chances are you will not notice the more subtle guiding direction coming from your spirit You must quiet your mind and pay attention if you really want to hear what your inner teacher has to say My own mentor Charlie Goodman who taught me how to develop my sixth sense suggested that I make a daily appointment with my spirit and said that it was even more helpful if I kept that appointment everyday at the same time When you do that your vibes speak up on schedule Make an appointment to check in with your self with your inner teacher and keep that appointment every day Finally if you really want to hear the voice of your intuition you will have to quiet voices that distract you These include the voices of judgment negativity criticism and self doubt There are several ways to quiet these distracting voices One is to go on a criticism fast and have the discipline to avoid all critical thought or expressions for a week or two Another would be to forgive the people that you hold a grudge against It is amazing how much inner dialogue is necessary to keep grudges going Finally it is extremely valuable to pray to a Higher Power to guide you in focusing on hearing your spirit s voice Asking for help along the way is also a very powerful way to hear your inner teacher The reason for awakening your sixth sense is so that you can make better decisions in life and in making better decisions for your self you add to the harmony of the planet in general which we call all

leaders and role models for others Their vibes not only ensure their personal success but in many cases also create a positive successful work environment providing prosperous jobs and a happy work experience for many others I call these intuitive creative people six sensories They recognize and actively use their sixth sense as natural and necessary for achieving success They do not consider it sixth in importance but first when making decisions I call people who tune out the sixth sense or allow it to lay dormant five sensories because they rely only on their five physical senses and not their heart centered spiritual sixth sense to direct their lives Five sensory or not yet six sensory persons perceive the world through eyes of limitation and fear and all too readily are victimized by what appears to be out of their control whether it be the economy bad luck bosses who are unscrupulous unfit low paying jobs or whatever the problem of the moment Five sensories struggle against appearances and see work as only a dog eat dog arena where people must fight over limited resources Six sensory people on the other hand perceive the world through eyes of possibility and creativity an open ended realm of opportunity with only their imagination limiting their potential Six sensories don t engage in the struggle of competition They operate out of an entirely different paradigm one that is friendly and receptive to their desires taking them wherever they want to go creating whatever they want to create while bypassing obstacles along the way Six sensories operate in a world where they see their personal gifts and talents as well received and well rewarded If you are ready to stop struggling in fear and doubt around the job and want to start flowing joyfully with the creative and unlimited forces of the universe to start using all your natural resources and reclaim your power as a six sensory intuitively guided creative soul and truly succeed at work open your mind and let s begin Vibes at work Tool 1 Set Your Intention If you truly want to be a six sensory leader in your work world you must set your intention to do so Begin each workday with a clear idea of what you hope to achieve that day especially if you want to be intuitively guided toward reaching your greatest potential I remind clients all the time that intuition doesn t drop from nowhere as some people would believe It directly follows your natural interests and intentions and supports what s most important to you If you come to work with no set intentions you will not be divinely inspired because your creative doors will be shut If you come to work however with clearly defined goals everything in your conscious subconscious and higher mind will focus on supporting those goals One of my favorite quotes is from the I Ching the Chinese Book of Changes The way it begins is the

in an institution Since February is the month of lovers let s take a look at what it takes to be a great lover and find great love The funny thing about love is that the more you try to organize it the less like love it becomes As spiritual master Meher Baba noted Love and coercion can never go together Love has to spring spontaneously from within It is in no way amenable to any form of inner or outer force and it cannot be forced upon anybody yet it can be awakened in one through love itself People usually institutionalize things when they don t trust life to take care of itself naturally and spontaneously I m not saying that institutions are bad or we should not have them they serve a purpose But institutions have a way of becoming hollow shells that the heart gradually dies out of Most religions for example began with a genuine enlightenment experience by a prophet whom God spoke to That experience was so powerful that it inspired others to follow in their footsteps The glitch in that formula is that if you really want to meet God you have to follow in your own footsteps not those of another It s more about energy than action more about consciousness than behavior A friend of mine studied with a Native American shaman whom she adored One day my friend asked the shaman How can I be more like you The shaman gave the best answer I have ever heard If you want to be more like me be more like yourself He was teaching that the road to enlightenment is paved with authenticity not imitation The story is told about an African tribesman who went to his favorite rock by a river and sat there eating an avocado Suddenly a shaft of light broke through the leaves above him and he realized he was one with all life eternally whole and filled with peace In other words he became enlightened When the fellow returned to the village everyone realized there was something extraordinary about him he had been transformed and he glowed with a new light When the villagers asked him What happened to you he explained I was just sitting on the big rock down by the river eating an avocado A beam of light fell upon me and I saw God The next morning when the tribesman awoke he found no one in the village He looked in all the huts but everyone had mysteriously disappeared Finally he decided to give up searching and just go back to the rock he loved to sit on When he arrived he was amazed to find all the people from the village clustered on the rock avocados in hand scrambling to get to the top of the rock Silly as this parable sounds it s not very different from the way we try to institutionalize spirit The key to the tribesman s illumination

to resist Yet when I am meditating he simply lies down and waits for me to finish Something in him understands meditation and respects it He gets the okay I ll say it vibe The universal intelligence in him is connected to the universal intelligence meditating in and through me and the two create a lovely respectful dance together I like to think that people are at least as smart as dogs and something inside each of us recognizes and respects wisdom beauty and authentic love When you are connected to higher power doors open in miraculous ways I saw a video of Mother Teresa on a mission to rescue a group of children from a children s hospital in war torn Beirut Although factions were shooting at each other constantly when Mother Teresa announced that she was going into the city to remove these children the parties declared a cease fire At the appointed time Mother Teresa and a group of her nuns drove two trucks into the quieted city and freed the children The moment she and the kids were clear the factions went back to fighting This noble example tells me two things 1 War is a choice and can be stopped at will and 2 The spirit s commitment to peace is more powerful than the ego s commitment to war When authentic peace shows up in the face of conflict peace ultimately prevails because peace springs from love and war springs from fear and love is always stronger than fear When Ram Dass visited India he met a yogi Hari Dass Baba who had been silent for many years and taught Ram Dass a brief lesson each day by writing an aphorism on a small chalkboard One day the lesson was Yogi in jungle need not fear Snakes know heart A major truth in a condensed nugget When you are in harmony with life you need not worry or struggle to protect yourself for all of life bows in deference to the presence of the divine A Course in Miracles offers a profound poetic image in Workbook Lesson 156 describing how loved and powerful you are simply by virtue of who you are There is a light in you which cannot die whose presence is so holy that the world is sanctified because of you All things that live bring gifts to you and offer them in gratitude and gladness at your feet The scent of flowers is their gift to you The waves bow down before you and the trees extend their arms to shield you from the heat and lay their leaves before you on the ground that you may walk in softness while the wind sinks to a whisper round your holy head This touching passage tells me that life loves to love you and as you love yourself you are aligned with your purpose and the purpose of everything that lives It s not egotistical to have rewarding fulfilling relationships and

Alan Cohen The holiday season brings with it the inevitable questions Who will I spend the holidays with Which family members should I visit Must I really go to this party Here is the answer to all of your holiday questions as well as any that occur during the rest of the year or your entire life Love yourself enough to be where joy guides you Toward the end of his Hawaiian vacation my friend Jack came to visit me As I drove Jack to the airport he confessed There were two things I always dreamed of doing with my beloved and waited to do with her when she came along One was to buy a house in a neighborhood I have always loved and the other was to visit Hawaii Last year I decided to quit waiting for my beloved to show up before I could enjoy those gifts I bought the house and now I have come to Hawaii and had a stellar vacation Jack went on Now I realize that I have done those things with my beloved My beloved you see is me When I next saw Jack he introduced me to his fiancée When he found his beloved inside him he found his beloved beside him As you find your beloved inside you you will know exactly where to go and when and find many different manifestation of love beside you Over years of counseling people in relationship and life choice quandaries I have observed many happy endings This has taught me that no romantic friendship or family relationship issue is so overwhelming that you cannot find your way home indeed some of the most painful predicaments are preludes to glorious triumph Take Hannah for example a young Jewish woman who fell in love with a Muslim man Hannah s father was furious about his daughter s romance and forbade her to date Rashid Over several years Hannah attended my seminars and plodded through the saga of her star crossed love Finally she mailed me a copy of a letter she wrote to her father explaining to him that she appreciated all he had done for her but this was her life and this was the man she loved and she could no longer deny her heart s calling A year later I received Hannah s wedding picture and the following year her baby s photo Eventually her father dropped his resistance and accepted Rashid into his heart and family Then there was Erin the wedding coordinator who could get everyone to the altar but herself When she finally admitted that she was in the wedding business because she really wanted to be in a wedding she let a good man into her life Then someone else planned the wedding at which she finally walked down the aisle herself Wherever you stand on your relationship journey any perceived deficit can get offset with a healthy dose of self love Self honoring is in fact your

a woman who had grown up in Russia As we spoke about wealth and poverty she quoted a Russian folk phrase that translated to English means I m not rich enough to be poor When I asked her about the meaning she explained When you buy cheap things cut corners or do anything with an intention less than full quality you think you are saving money But in the long run such an act will cost you more Cheap things break and you have to repair or replace them Business or personal relationships that represent compromise cost you more peace joy and money in the long run than if you had claimed excellence Acts based on poverty thinking only create more poverty conditions So you are not rich enough to be poor Å you cannot afford what living from a poverty mentality will ultimately cost you Consider what in your current life represents a wealth mentality and what represents a poverty mentality Å not just money but business friendships family and relationships If you were to proceed from a sense of wealth rather than scarcity what would you be doing differently I met another fellow who owned a plumbing company He opened up the phone book and showed me a large ad his company had taken out in the yellow pages At the bottom of the ad after listing all the services his company offered bold letters invited Ask us why our prices are higher So I asked him Why are your prices higher Our prices are higher because we use the best quality materials we can find he replied Our repairmen are trained to be fast efficient and courteous We guarantee our work and if there is any problem with the job we have done we will come back and fix it until you are satisfied That s why our prices are higher Well that was enough to sell me I remembered when I had purchased services or materials just to get a good deal and I later wished I had gone for quality rather than economy Your presentation of yourself or your business speaks for the level of quality to which you are committed After several years of presenting my Mastery Training in Hawaii we experienced a lull in attendance People were not signing up in the numbers they had been and I wondered what it would take to build the attendance again Taking the lead from other businesses I had observed I lowered the prices When the program s brochure was reprinted I had a banner inserted at the bottom of the page that listed the tuition New lower prices When I showed the brochure to a business consultant his feedback was I like almost everything about the brochure you present the program in a very attractive light The only thing I don t like is this banner New lower prices I think it cheapens what you are offering The program is a class act Don t
