    tool is the possibility to combine it with the well established and validated GRASP The satellite model shown here kindly provided by M Sabbadini ESTEC clearly illustrates the commonly encountered problem when designing telecommunications antennas a multitude of antennas cramped onto a platform that leaves little room for the individual patterns to radiate without some interaction with the other antennas Today the antennas are designed developed and validated based on their isolated performance and the interaction analysis can only be performed in GRASP using a simplistic model of the platform Consequently the antenna designer needs to combine several additional tools to thoroughly analyze the antennas in their true environment The objective of the new project is to enhance the capabilites of GRASP with novel analysis techniques that will allow the antenna designer to model the influence of the antenna farm as an inherent part of the antenna design in GRASP The new tool avoids the current data exchange between GRASP and additional scattering tools leading to a faster design process and reducing the risk of errors Also the tool will lead to a more accurate design due to the detailed modelling of the platform offered The new tool will enable

    the previous version will be glad to see that the object editor for e g a reflector now also provides access to all referenced objects e g coordinate systems rims etc On start up the user is presented with a choice of options including launching the auxillary program COBRA which is still old school but provides the antenne designer with a convenient tool to define coverages on earth as seen from space and subsequently generate a POS project It is also possible to select worked out examples from a library that includes amongst other single feed single shaped reflector direct radiating array and shaped reflector with feed array Automatic convergence estimate for PO The well proven GRASP method of estimating the appropriate density of the PO current sampling is now available to the POS user as well It is a long awaited feature in POS and particularly useful since for highly shaped reflectors it is not just the aperture size and the location of the file points that influence the integration also the shaping itself has an effect and all fine details must be captured in the PO integral Least squares optimization We have added a least squares optimizaton engine
