in a yang world Our days are filled with tasks and chores running and fetching laughter and brooding We feel vital alive exhausted spent and overwhelmed If we stay too long in an unbalanced situation writes Bernie Clark in The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga the universe acts to restore balance It throws us to the other side our health may suffer and our lives may change We need to tip the scales to restore balance We need yin Power Vinyasa classes Hot Fusion Sculpt and Slow Flow are essential for building strong muscles strengthening spines and aligning our bodies Yin works on the tissues of our ligaments joints fascia and bones So while a yang sequence provides strength holding a pose in yin offers length In yin our muscles are relaxed so that the stress the good stress moves to the ligaments binding the joint If yang is the embodiment of our energetic dynamic exterior selves yin is the subtle introspective hidden part of us Many practitioners who are drawn to yoga for its physical benefits are delighted to discover this quieter aspect of yin Yin classes at Vibe are about this revolution within Join us on this journey

  • Our Vibe Community – An Interview with Jane Faubion! | Vibe Yoga Studio
tone up after having a baby I came back because it was challenging but also seemed like a feasible enjoyable challenge Q What would you say to someone thinking about trying yoga A I usually tell them to try a class None of it is as scary as they think it will be that they don t need to be super flexible I tell people how helpful it is for their body mind and life I don t go crazy trying to convince people because I don t like that personally but I let them know I ll talk or help them if they d like Q How does your yoga practice help you off your mat A In so many ways Yoga has given me a lot of patience I feel physically stronger I think I try to let life happen more rather than controlling it And also letting go of the desire to control Often times I feel like I have a little secret with yoga It gives me comfort on a daily basis to know that there is a place on my mat that I can go to where I can feel better Maybe feel worse for a time or any other emotion but always eventually better Q Why is a yoga community important to you A My experience with Vibe as my yoga community has been invaluable I started practicing at Vibe during my husband s illness He was in and out of the hospital while I was taking care of our son who was at the time 2 years old Yoga became a practice for me because it was one of the activities I felt I could do for myself during this challenging time period It was a way to get a break from the caregiving in the rest of my day Since my husband passed away Vibe has become far more than a community of yogis to me while I do find that great It has been a place for me to heal I have been supported unconditionally by the space itself the teachers and fellow yogis Q Why do you practice at Vibe A I practice at Vibe because I feel comfortable there The summer after my husband died I dubbed The Summer of Crying During which I cried almost every time I was in class That s why I practice at Vibe It is a place I can be myself without shame or fear and I m immensely thankful for that Q Wha t is one thing you would like yoga teachers to know from your experience so they can share it with others A There are several teachers at Vibe who I ve taken different bits from to add together to form my experiences I appreciate what I feel a teacher can give what they are strong at promoting in their students and in a class There isn t one thing I ve gotten but rather a series of bits and

twice Wow What an inspiration Q What do you remember about your first yoga class that made you come back A How absolutely amazing my body and mind felt I certainly wanted more of what this thing called yoga had to offer me Q What would you say to someone thinking about trying yoga A I would tell them the same thing that I think even experienced yogis need to be reminded of from time to time be open to the experience don t judge yourself or your neighbor trust yourself don t be so serious all the time have fun and know that it may take a few classes to find the style and teacher that suits your needs Q How does your yoga practice help you off your mat A Haha I think my family could answer that question better than myself Seriously though yoga has enriched every aspect of my life I think it has made me a better wife mother friend and teacher Yoga has definitely brought me more awareness and day to day peace I find myself taking a breath or ten before responding reacting making quick decisions or just when I need the world to slow down a bit Q Why is a yoga community important to you A We support each other with not even knowing it most of the time I can t tell you how many times I ve walked out of a class that just had that energy to it you know it left you feeling on top of the world There s power in numbers It s so nice to share some common ground for 1 hr with people who all have different stories and experiences It s a practice for anyone and everyone Q Why do you practice

It allows me to disconnect from daily life and focus on each moment as it happens When I do yoga I feel energized like I m part of something greater than myself Q What do you remember about your first yoga class that made you come back A I remember feeling complete energy and complete peace at the same time I loved the power coming from each asana but also the meditative aspects of connecting with every breath It was unlike any experience I had ever felt before Q What would you say to someone thinking about trying yoga A There is no part of your life that yoga can t enhance If you walk into your first class with an open mind then be prepared for it to change your life for the better A towel might be helpful too be prepared to sweat Q How does your yoga practice help you off your mat A Yoga helps me stay balanced in everyday life When stress kicks in and things seem like they might be too much to handle yoga is always there to remind me of what is really important and what isn t worth the worry Q Why is a yoga community important to you A Surrounding myself with a group of people who share a passion for yoga inspires me Yoga inherently allows you to connect with the people around you and that inspires me to continue my practice and progress as an individual Q Why do you practice at Vibe A Vibe offers so many different kinds of classes and different styles of yoga that everyone can find something that appeals to them At Vibe I feel a sense of community and connection with the instructors that inspire me to deepen my practice every time

powerful tool that provides balance for the mind body and spirit It has been practiced for thousands of years and the benefits are endless To name a few meditation reduces anxiety stress insomnia depression lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels and improves immune function It s easier than you think to establish a regular practice You can set a timer and start out with just a couple of minutes a day There are lots of types of meditation to choose from including transcendental visualization mantra and mindfulness All that matters is finding a meditation where you can feel come sense of calm and ease For my own mediation practice I use mantra meditation specifically So Hum meditation So Hum means I am that so I am and hum that Here that refers to all of creation our connection to everything around us I try to meditate each morning before I begin my day in a quiet spot where I won t be disturbed or distracted You can begin by finding a comfortable posture for meditation seated on a cushion or blanket in a chair or against a wall Sit quietly with your spine straight and hands in chin mudra index finger and thumb touching resting on the knees Allow your mind to become present listening to the breath following the flow of your inhales and exhales Begin to vibrate the mantra sooooo as you inhale and huuuuum as you exhale When it s time to end you can finish with a moment of gratitude reflection or prayer to soak it all up before moving into your day You can being with 2 3 minutes a day and build up to 20 30 minutes if you wish Without fail the mind will want to wander into the past or future grocery

  • Bacon or no bacon? That is the question. | Vibe Yoga Studio
were gone like yesterday s news I used to be afraid to leave the house without my inhaler using it at least once a day and I didn t have to use it one time all month I was hooked and when the 30 days was up and all my friends went to celebrate by drinking and eating pizza I made a decision I was done dieting Done feeling like crap Done done done No pizza and beer for me Long story short I added certain foods back into my diet one by one to see what exactly the underlying issue was and it turned out that I had an allergy not an intolerance but an actual allergy to wheat Apparently I never actually had asthma but the tissue in my chest and belly would get inflamed when I would eat wheat I definitely had an intolerance to soy and dairy so I kept all of those things out of my diet but added certain beans that agreed with me back in I used to get insane sugar cravings and I found that when I just don t eat it I don t crave it It s pretty simple When I embarked on my journey to become a yoga instructor we learned about the philosophy of ahimsa or non violence A lot of yogis take this to mean not harming animals of course and therefore not eating animals or animal products I think that s really cool if that s right for your body As I said earlier I was a vegetarian for ten years and in those years I was incredibly sick and anemic all the time Though I was eating ample amounts of vegetarian sources of protein and taking multiple supplements there came a point when I just couldn t take it anymore My body craved the energy from meat so badly that I binged on burgers at a friend s graduation party and I never looked back I think sometimes in the yoga world it s assumed that you re vegan or vegetarian and occasionally I feel alienated as a meat eater Try going out to eat with your yogi friends at a vegetarian restaurant and finding something to eat that doesn t contain soy or wheat But we have to remember that ahimsa works in two ways Yes it s important to be kind to animals but you have to be kind to yourself and your body too I have plenty of friends who are vegan that are strong vibrant and full of energy and I have a few friends who seem sickly all the time Most importantly we need to listen to the signals from our bodies A giant steak makes me feel invigorated and energetic so why would I deprive myself of that I do try to make the effort to find locally and humanely raised organic meat and even though it s more expensive it s important to me to know that the
